Hanna (2019)
A Fantastic Show that Slowly Slides Downhill
Hanna is a fantastic adaptation of the 2011 film of the same name. Season one is fantastic and really brought to life by Esme Creed-Miles and Joel Kinnaman. I 100% recommend you watch this show for the 1st season alone. However, the show starts to slide after the 1st season. Season 2 is still very good and worth watching but didn't blow me away. Season 3 is lackluster and I was was extremely disappointed with the writing. Creed-Miles does an excellent job of embodying Hanna and carrying the show but the writing of season 3 was so appallingly bad and often tried to shift the storyline outside of Hanna.
I absolutely recommend that you give this show a chance for the first season alone and if I had to give ratings to the seasons they would be:
Season 1: 9
Season 2: 7
Season 3: 5.
Jolt (2021)
Jolt into another movie
I thought the trailer for this movie was so cool and had to give the movie a shot. The premise is interesting in theory and I think they could have made something of it but this is not it.
I felt absolutely zero connection with any of the characters and there was such minimal character development and storyline that I struggled to even watch half of the movie. I hate writing a review with a rating this low but I urge you to save the precious time that is your and spend that time watching something better.
Warrior Nun (2020)
Promising with a side of Terrible Monologue
When I heard the title "Warrior Nun" I almost assumed the show had to be cheesy. To my surprise the show was actually pretty well done, it kept my attention for the most part. It did a pretty good job at bringing the church into an action based environment and I will definitely watch season two.
Where the show went wrong was some of the action scene and the main characters inner monologue. For the action scenes specifically some things were flat out impractical. First, do the showmakers really believe that no one is going to question why a nun is walking around with a sword on her back? Second, do they think no one will notice huge, loud fights in public places? Third, why beyond trying to look BA is a character constantly carrying around two shotguns? Two shotguns it totally impractical and she barely even shoots them the entire show.
The main characters inner monologue was easily the worst part about this show. It's like they had no idea who they were marketing the show to so they included a good amount of action then threw in the most cheesy teenage monologue in existence. Think, "OMG he's so cute" kind of monologue.
