The Switch (2010)
WOW...Loved it!
I was not expecting to like this show very much, but it literally blew me away. This child actor who plays Sebastian is phenomenal, and absolutely adorable. At his age, his acting skills just blew me away. Jennifer Aniston plays her usual quirky self, but she was really great, and very classy. Jason Bateman was fantastic, and I loved everything about his character. This movie made me laugh and cry. The bond between Bateman and Sebastian was beautiful. Every actor in this movie was great, including Juliette Lewis and Jeff Goldblum, who co-star. Trust me, you will enjoy this movie, even if you don't normally watch these types of movies.
The Book Thief (2013)
Flawless
I cannot even begin to explain all the emotions I felt while watching this delightful movie. First and foremost, the cast is phenomenal. The casing director should win an award for the amazing casting of this movie....every role was cast with perfection.
Movies like this such as The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Pianist, Angela's Ashes, etc. always fascinate me, but this movie stood out from them all, as far as I am concerned. Lets start with the cast. Geoffrey Rush will always be one of the best actors that ever lived (in my book), and I have never had the privilege of watching a movie he was in that I did not love. Sophie Nélisse who plays Liesel (the lead character) was a breath of fresh air, and should definitely be nominated for her role in this film. Emily Watson, who plays Liesel's adopted mother, plays her role to perfection. Even Nico Liersch, who plays Rudy (Liesel's best friend) is one of the most amazing child actors I have ever seen.
This film is a roller coaster ride of emotions from the beginning to the end. It has the ability to pull you in every direction then jerk you back to reality. Happiness, sadness, hope, fear, love, sorrow, sympathy, and hate are merely a few of the emotions you will have during this two hour extravaganza.
I have to say the ending really caught me off guard, and I love the way they had "Death" narrate it from his perspective. This is one of those movies that you watch, and it makes you want to be a better person. It is a wonderful movie for families to watch together, and should be mandatory material for all middle school students.
On a scale of 1 - 10, I would give this movie 11 stars if I could!
The Odd Couple (2015)
Terrible terrible terrible!
Jack Klugman and Walter Matthau are turning in their graves....Having Oscar Madison portrayed by this reject!
Matthew Perry=Worst actor ever.
Not to mention that his new teeth make him talk with a lisp.
(annoying)

The ONLY reason I gave this show 5 stars is because Thomas Lennon is brilliant, and plays Felix to pure perfection. I don't care if Matthew Perry is bank-rolling this show. Get rid of him, and get rid of those annoying laugh tracks!
We're the Millers (2013)
Wow...Surprisingly great
I have to say that I agree with every other reviewer on this film. I really went into this movie thinking that it was going to be another dumb comedy. One of those stupid comedies with stupid one liners and ridiculous antics. I expected to hate it, but boy was I wrong. Normally I can't stand movies like this, but this movie was surprisingly amazing. Jennifer Aniston has definitely redeemed herself in my eyes, and Jason Sudeikis was a breath of fresh air. I had no idea who Jason Sudeikis was coming into this show. I don't watch SNL ever because, as far as I'm concerned, it hasn't been funny since the original cast of Belushi, Radner, Aykroyd, and Curtin. This guy was amazing and witty, and lead this entire movie to victory. You can just tell by watching him, that Jason Sudeikis is not only a great actor, but brilliant in real life. I am watching this movie again for a second time and felt compelled to write a review. I'm not going to go into any specifics because I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I urge you to watch this movie....especially if you (like me) go into it with very low hopes. You will be as surprised as I was how enjoyable it is.
Raising Hope (2010)
Love it!
I am so thrilled that this show has been renewed for another season. Season 4 is already off to a wonderful start. I can't begin to express how much I appreciate the subtleties and hidden innuendo's that this show projects. The writers are brilliant beyond compare. Well done Gregory Thomas Garcia for creating such a wonderful show. I was thoroughly impressed with Season 4, episode 2 "Burt Bucks".....kudos to Joey Gutierrez for writing such an amazing episode. I'm looking forward to another incredible Season. I hope this show continues for many years to come. I love the entire cast, and I love the way that we get to watch them grow each season. Hope is about the most adorable little child actress on television, and Martha Plimpton has always been one of my favorites (since she was a child). Maw Maw is hilarious, and I just love what Cloris Leachman has done with her character. For a 87 year old lady, she is as spry as they come. Keep up the good work Fox. Normally I am not very impressed by the programming on Fox, but this show has opened my eyes and made me take a step back. Love It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)
Love This Movie!
This is one of the best movies I have ever watched in my life. The acting in this movie is sublime. One of my favorite parts of a movie is the music. This movie has, by far, one of the best soundtracks of any movie ever made. I have always thought that Logan Lerman was an exquisite actor, but he has reached a whole new level of genius with this movie. Emma Watson is one of those actresses that unfortunately has been type cast by her portrayal of Hermione Granger, but her acting is so new and refreshing in this film, that you completely forget about her even being affiliated with the Harry Potter franchise. I have watched this film several times looking for a flaw, and I'm happy to say, one does not exist. Everything, from the writing, cinematography, production, and acting in this movie is one of a kind. I was hesitant to watch this film for the first time, but this will go down in history as one of my favorite films of all time. Kudos to the entire crew!
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013)
Loved It
I have to say that I was completely surprised by this movie. This was a very fun movie, with great one-liners, and incredible costumes/make-up. I thought this was going to be your typical low budget thrasher film, boy was I wrong. I went into this movie with very low expectations, and came out feeling wonderful and thoroughly entertained.
This is one film that I would love to see many sequels added. The acting was much better than I expected, and I found myself laughing several times throughout this movie. Don't pay any attention to the critics on this one....They are dead wrong. I thought that Jeremy Renner was great in this film, and Gemma Arterton made a fantastic Gretel. If you haven't seen this movie yet, go and see it. You will enjoy it as much as I did.
The Lone Ranger (2013)
Terrible Drivel
The Bruckheimer/Verbinski team is at it once again, and once again they have completely failed. This is so typical of the Disney Franchise....to take a legendary show, write a mediocre script (that has nothing to do with the actual Lone Ranger), and get a big name like Johnny Depp to star in it. Let's face it, with Johnny Depp starring, people are going to see the movie no matter how terrible it is, simply because he is in it. This is something that Disney does very well. They take a show that's more than 30 years old (1957 in this case) and they remake it into a movie because the majority of their fan base is under 30 years old, so they have no idea how accurate the movie actually is.
First of all, the real Lone Ranger was one of the bravest men alive, not a sniveling little wimp (as depicted in this movie). The characters (including Tonto) looked nothing like the actual characters in the original Lone Ranger. What's up with the thick crumbling face paint, and the dead bird on his head? He looks more like a pygmy that just got off the first plane from the Congo in Africa. This movie is nothing but another 2 1/2 hour 'Pirates of the Caribbean' with characters dressed as cowboys and Indians. This is because Bruckheimer and Verbinski have one style and one style only. They are not talented enough to expand, so all of their movies have the exact same recipe (good guys, fighting the bad guys, for a damsel in distress). Let's face it, we all know that Disney has completely lowered the criteria for talent in this country with all of these "so-called" new Disney stars such as: Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Ashley Tisdale, Hillary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, and Vanessa Hudgens. They can't sing, act, or dance their way out of a box if they wanted to.
This movie is such a flop in the hugest way, it saddens me that they spent 250 million dollars to make it. I'm guessing most of this money went to pay the salaries of the actors. This is definitely one of those movies that you will spend the last hour looking at your watch every five minutes waiting for it to end. Don't get me wrong, I think Johnny Depp is a wonderful actor, but the fact that he keeps accepting roles in these mediocre Disney films simply says that he is a complete sell out. It's hard for me to discern exactly what stereotype he's tackling with this oddball incarnation of Tonto, which has all the eccentricity of Captain Jack Sparrow, but only half of the wit. Depp has become another sellout who will take any movie role for X amount of money; there is no artistic integrity involved. Armie Hammer, who I also enjoy, does not have the acting ability to pull off a lead role such as this. He is much better used in co-starring roles such as his role in J Edgar.
The most important aspect of the original Lone Ranger was that it always had a lesson that each episode taught us, something of ethics and morality. This movie does nothing of the kind, it is simply a western with people blowing stuff up. If you're a typical Disney sheep, who will pay good money to see any movie that Disney throws at you, you will probably love this movie. This is what they count on, and is the reason they keep making these awful films. If you are a preteen, you will probably love this movie. If you're one of those people who worship Johnny Depp and will pay to see anything that he is in, you will probably love this movie. If you want to see a movie that has any artistic integrity, or a movie that has a great story and plot, you will hate this movie. If you grew up watching the original Lone Ranger, you will be sadly disappointed (once again) at the mockery that Disney has made of a pure classic. I can understand why Depp is in disguise and Hammer wears a mask...I would be embarrassed to be in this film as well. Hi Ho Silver Away!
Minority Report (2002)
wonderful
Well, it is now 2013, and I have finally watched this movie for the first time. I was surprised at how much i enjoyed it. Wonderful graphics, great imagery, and incredible editing. Spielberg did an excellent job directing this film. Not a huge fan of Cruise, but he did a wonderful job in this movie as well. I can honestly say, without a doubt, this movie was not at all what I expected, and I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. I will definitely be watching this movie again very soon. If you haven't had the opportunity to view this film yet please do yourself a favor and watch it. I have learned recently not to let my displeasure of one or two cast members dissuade me from watching a film. This is something I have done in the past, and it has made me miss out on many good films.
I give this movie 10 stars!
Rock of Ages (2012)
terrible
This movie somehow reminded me of a really bad episode of Glee. Lots of untalented people singing other peoples songs. Truly awful cover versions of every song here. I can't believe they hired Ron Anderson to (vocally) coach these actors, and this is the best they could come up with? What a complete waste of money on their part.
This movie had a terrible script, and it's no wonder that it failed to fall short of its budget. It's sad when you spend 75 million dollars making a movie and you end up losing over 15 million dollars after it's released. It seemed like every actor was given different direction as to how to interpret their roles. I would rather be stabbed in the eye with an ice pick than forced to watch this movie again.
Let me begin by saying that I grew up in Hollywood, and worked at Tower Records on the Sunset Strip from 1985-1987 (age 16-18). I was a huge part of the "Hollywood Scene" which is so poorly portrayed in this movie. Every Friday and Saturday night I would be at The Troubadour, Gazzarri's, Whiskey, Roxy, and the Rainbow Bar and Grill. I knew every band that played in Hollywood during this period. I used to hang out with all of the guys from Warrant, Poison, G N R, Bill Gazzarri, etc. Doug Goldstein (Tour Manager for Guns N' Roses) was one of my best friends.
The guys in Poison were all friends of mine. They were so poor that they all shared a one bedroom apartment off of Ventura Blvd. Back in those days, they actually had to pay the clubs to let them play. I can remember watching Poison play at the Troubadour in 1986. After the show, we all went back to their apartment to watch MTV because it was the debut of their first music video. It was the band, myself, and 7 of our friends all sitting on their living room floor, around the television, eating pizza, and drinking champagne. The reason we all sat on the floor was because they were so poor, they couldn't afford furniture, and only had one small sofa in their living room. I spent many days hanging out with band members such as: Bret, Rikki, Axl, Duff, and Izzy (from GNR), Jani (from Warrant). We used to cruise up and down Sunset Boulevard in my convertible with the top down shouting at people.
This movie was set to take place in 1987. If anybody knows what the "scene" was like in 87' it's me. I can honestly say, without a doubt, this movie does not even come close to how it really was. They got most of the music wrong, the clothing is atrocious, the language (nobody called people brother and brother man....everybody was referred to as dude), and every aspect that they tried to bring back was most certainly lost in translation. First let me say that some of the music in this movie wasn't even recorded yet, during the period of time this film is trying to portray. Where is the spandex? Where are the bangle bracelets? Where is the Aqua Net hairspray? Those were the three best friends of every band member in 1987, and none of them would be caught dead without all three in their possession at all times. It's almost like the person that coordinated this film had never been to Hollywood in his life, and most certainly did not grow up there during the late 80's.
SkidRow didn't even make it to Hollywood until late 89-90's. It really bothers me when people take a movie and try to portray a certain period of time, but they completely miss the mark on every aspect. This is what this movie did in every way, shape, and form. There are very few bands that everyone on the Sunset Strip listened to between in 1987. The bands that were playing the strip during this period are: Poison, Plain Jane (who later became Warrant), L.A. Guns, Pretty Boy Floyd, Guns N' Roses, Ratt, BulletBoys, Dokken, Rough Cutt, Jetboy, Black and Blue, Kix, Great White, Faster Pussycat, Motley Crue. There were also bands that had already become extremely popular and famous such as: Tesla, The Cult, Bon Jovi, Hanoi Rocks. This is the music that was played in every club during this period, not Pat Benetar, Extreme, REO Speedwagon, Quarterflash, Loverboy, Foreigner, Styx, etc...
Let me say that Cruise did an excellent job in this movie. Supposedly he was portraying Axl? I knew Axl in real life, and no way was he anything like the character in this movie, but I don't blame Tom Cruise for this....I blame the director and writer. I guarantee the part was written wrong, and I'm sure that Tom Cruise absolutely nailed the character they were going for. Yes, the real Axl was always wasted, always late, always surrounded by beautiful women, and always wore long coats and lots of jewelry, but the writers have made him out to be a complete psycho, and Axl was nothing of the sort. He was extremely intelligent and always aware of his surroundings, even when he was wasted. He just didn't care about anybody, and did whatever he wanted.
The one thing that I remember most about Axl was his bad temper. He fought with everybody and he was very abusive verbally and physically. He liked trouble and always managed to find it; he also loved to fight with anybody about anything. I've seen him beat people up backstage at his shows simply because he thought that they said something about him. I can honestly say he was probably the wildest person I have ever known.
Like I said, if you haven't seen this movie yet don't waste your time. It would be more fun to take hot needles and stick them in your eyeballs.
