Don't Look Up (2021)
Bloated Annoying Crap
Hard to watch. Another bloated egocentric pile of hollywood crap with movie stars trying to act like regular folks. Extremely annoying characters. Over the top. Big names big pay checks but only good if you want to be annoyed.

Irritating Obnoxious Main Character
Yorick has to be one of the most irritating obnoxious characters ever put into a tv series. Selfish and with little to no good in him. I give the actor playing him credit for being a good actor. This show does have a great cast of characters especially Agent 355. Hopefully the Yorick character will grow a pair sometime in this series.

Brilliant Engaging Sci Fi
I love a film that totally engages a person. This film has great performances by the whole cast. Left me guessing and thinking. A rare film that does that. The ending was a huge surprise and I liked it that way. A WOW! Ending. No spoiler there. I loved how it made me think and try to imagine how it could go. I enjoyed the emotional button punching done - again - a rarity in films these days. A truly thought provoking film. Applause to all involved!

Gratingly Annoying Stupid Characters
I liked this the first season and then it got to Mexico and it became insanely STUPID. It reeks of stupidity. The CHARACTERS seem to all have a stupid gene along with being incredibly ANNOYING. The only reason I continue to watch the show is I PAID for a season. It's a TV show. I don't hate it. I just try to wrap my mind around how incredibly stupid, obnoxious and annoying the characters are. I think the dead have more common sense than the living characters in this show. I wonder that they made the character of Nick so incredibly stupid. The whole religious angle of it is annoying as well. They seek to go deep but it is shallow. I hope the show is not renewed for a 3rd season and they put it out of it's misery and that of the viewers misery.

Original And Different
I was skeptical of this but had read a good review so I thought I would give it a try. Starts and moves slow. Picks up speed. Acting better than some give it credit for. Low budget but good. The kid in it is one of the most annoying kids I have ever seen in a film. Part created that way I am sure. You have to wonder WHY some actors take the scripts they do. I understand why these actors chose this film. Different and original. I had to wonder what there WAS about this film that some thought was so good. It is unique is why. Different. THAT is difficult to find in a time of derivative plots. Give it a shot and watch out for the ending. Wait for it...

I WANT To Like This Show
I had high hopes for this show. First season was fairly good. I started out disliking some if not all of the characters and hoped they would grow. That SOMEONE would show as a good person. The only interesting POWERFUL character is that played by Ruben Blades. Were it not for the nice pay checks they must be getting for this garbage, I would feel pity for them being in it. The plotting is mildly suspenseful but like the characters getting to be ... ANNOYING! The only reason I watch this NOW is because I paid for a season of it. It is difficult to believe they already have a 3rd season of this OK'd. It should be put to rest so that the actors can go on to better things and not have this garbage tarnish their resume. Then again, the pay is probably good. I wish that I could become a zombie in one of the episodes so I could take a bite out of each annoying character then yell, "HURRAH! THE SHOW HAS BEEN PUT OUT OF THE VIEWERS MISERY!" There is still hope that the writers can all find it in them to write improved plots AND CHARACTERS. OH SHOW ME A HERO IN THERE SOMEWHERE!
Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter (2013)
A Brilliant Other Side View
It is said that in wars, the Victors always write the histories. I grew-up on the American and English war films always showing the Germans as monsters. People without emotion other than hate (most of the time). So much of that history was written by THAT generation that lived through the war with all the attendant hate. As I became an adult I knew there was of course another side. It was impossible for all on the OTHER side to be monsters. So much simplification. War is full of good and bad on both sides. The victorious can hide their monsters and ignore them. Not all Germans were monsters. They were HUMAN. This wonderful mini-series shows that humanity. Some think that it shows the Germans as being so nice. IT DOES NOT. There is kindness hate love cruelty and compassion in this. There are haters of Jews and those that change their minds about Jews. There are ALL sides of the German of that time shown. The acting directing and writing are very good. It lacks the polish of a Hollywood big budget film but it tells a fine STORY. STORY is what this is all about. There is an even handedness about it all. I felt they tried to show all sides of what happened complete with the torture murder and rape of Jews to a few scenes of compassion for them. Not all are the same in Wars. Just as there were murderers and rapists in the ranks of the allied military. Just not done on such a horrific mass scale as the Germans did.
Californication: The Abby (2013)
Great Writing Most Of The Time
I recently binge watched this on Netflix. I found it addictive with the writing, characters and story lines. The acting is very good by all. I could relate in a sad way in my past to the Hank character. It made me yearn to fall of the wagon and go on a drunk ;-) I have not. Leave that for fiction. It IS very good lite adult entertainment. There are moral lessons in this in that the life pictured in the series is crap. It looks like fun but there is always the hangover that lasts a lifetime. Sometimes the writing takes a very ugly turn and the characters become very detestable. That is art imitating life. We all know such detestable characters at some time in our lives. I had heard that Duchovny was treated for sex addiction in real life. THAT again is life imitating the art of the small screen. There is a goodness hidden in this series. Moments of wisdom that make you laugh and smile. We see and feel the pain in the characters and laugh and cheer them on at times. As-in life we do so with the characters that populate our own lives. The adults are children and the children show wisdom at times the adult have yet to learn. This series is a good place to go away from the characters and Selves of our own lives. Then let it go and go back to our own lives so much life that will imitate art. If you dislike this series maybe it is because it brings out things in your own life you don't want to see or remember. Such as it was in my life. I faced it and with maturity embraced it all. I grew up and kept hoping the characters in the series would... and the people in my own life will.
