Dreadful
8 May 2022
I watched some of these with my wife, she likes the show. It's absolutely dreadful. The people invited to get 'married' are awful. This is not an experiment it's an awful exploitation show. Certainly one of the worse shows I've ever seen.

Walkabout (1971)

Excellent movie
27 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this years ago and just now and the thing that struck me about the film which I didn't pick up on the first time, I was young, was the different attitudes of the black boy and the white people. The destructive and ignorant attitude of the white people compared to the helping and caring attitude of the black body was very stark.

I also enjoyed the wildlife scenes, not so much the killing.

Quite enjoyable

This was a funny little murder mystery with plenty of red herrings. Acting was superb and production excellent. It is funny that the best joke in series is saved for last, well the last episode. Well done, looking forward to the next season.

First season meh, second season it gets much better
23 October 2021
I originally gave this a six after the first season. It had its moments but was still very clunky and the acting not as good as hoped. The second season especially towards the end with William was much better. I think the actors become more confident of the story, special effects became better and overall pushed the rating to seven stars. Nice job.

A mess
12 October 2021
The movie was a confusing mess. It started out straight forward then we got to hear about all these other people and things happening. At one point I mentioned I was lost. It came together a bit at the end but really it wasn't very good at all.

Park your brain and enjoy

As the title says. It's a well made action film with extreme violence. Goodness knows what the body count is.

The film doesn't take itself seriously with some nice comedic moments and a homage to the magnificent seven. Well acted, and it does what it sets out to do. Worth a watch.

As a drama it was okay but there were so many mistakes
27 September 2021
I actually enjoyed the drama but on so many occasions I just either laughed or shouted at the television.

There's one thing I hate in drama it's when supposedly sane and intelligent people do stupid things and this had quite a few.

Other than the obligatory horrifying history of the lead police man/woman it was okay, just.

Very haphazard writing makes for a confusing watch.
11 September 2021
I came to this hoping for a new crime drama but really it's just all drama and not in a good way.

The writing seems to have been done by five different people on different continents. It's really confusing sometimes.

We do get a crime and the team are sent in to solve it but it seems we have form over function and by the end of the episode I couldn't really care less. Maybe it will improve, I'll give it another try but it's not looking too good.

Stowaway (I) (2021)

Not a bad movie
31 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The story was of course far fetched but we ended up with a stowaway on a Mars mission. The problem is how did he get there, what caused the initial damage, why did they not have a spare thingy ma jig that's so vital to their survival?

These questions were never answered.

I kept waiting for the stowaway to turn out to be a mad murderer but no. So a bit tame.

Other than this the acting was fine, effects realistic and everything else was good.

Some ridiculous moments
6 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Now you can't take midsommer too seriously but this episode really took the biscuit. The story was standard stuff people getting bumped off one after another, no one ever gets arrested or even questioned properly but we've come to expect that. Lots of running around and red herrings but how on earth did the petite murder overcome a taller man, particularly when she's wearing a huge heavy costume. He just had to run away. Not a great start.

A bit disappointed
24 December 2020
I thought this looked good. Good actors, good story. The special effects and acting etc were all great and then it dawned on me why I wasn't enjoying it. I didn't know anyone in the film. Sure we got some snippets but certainly when it came to the the astronauts they were all strangers so I didn't really care. It was a missed opportunity.

The story was very good, acting even better. This is one you need to watch and pay attention to. The story can be confusing but it all comes together nicely at the end. Recommended.

A fantastic episode with a great cast and story. They really did hit every button right with this one and at the end it had you really thinking which is always a sign of a great show. The sets, costumes, makeup, everything was superb. Well done guys.

A great cop thriller here with a twist. I tried to spot any plot holes/errors but couldn't. The acting was excellent as was the script. This is a very good thriller and you shouldn't be disappointed. Recommended.

Very good
10 September 2020
This series has its problems. For me It's a wee bit over sentimental, but I can understand this. The acting was excellent, the sets and technical details also excellent. Script and the story was great too. It's a very entertaining series and well worth a watch. Stick with it and you will be rewarded.

Enjoyable series
14 August 2020
I looked forward to this and wasn't disappointed. The sets, actors, everything was just right. The story did wander about a bit, perhaps two less episodes would have tightened it up but on the whole an enjoyable watch. Recommended.

Game of thrones on a train
11 August 2020
I never seen the movie so I can't compare but this tv series stands on its own. The premise is of course extremely far fetched but just run with it and you will enjoy the programme. The acting is great and inside the train the sets are very good. I was a bit disappointed with the effects for outside the train, it looked unreal. So well worth a watch.

Nice looking movie in need of a story
22 July 2020
As people have said this is a nice movie. Some great visuals of the moon and Neptune but it's let down by a very slow story of no real consequence. We get the whole daddy issues thing but it needed more, a lot more. I was disappointed but it's worth watching for the visuals.

A great movie
4 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A nice movie, well acted and filmed. There was only one problem. The love story was a bit forced and didn't really ring true. I had watched cast away the previous day and noticed a couple similarities. The main character was lost and alone even though he was in a busy terminal. He had to learn to survive. The hand print. The escape from the prison of the island/terminal. The lost love. A great movie, worth watching.

Dreadful
25 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Between the stupid things characters wouldn't do, the number of plot holes and just plain bad acting this is terrible. I watched this blind, seen Guy in it, thought it's bound to be good, was I wrong. Me and the wife just rolled off the plot holes all the way through this and to top it off the jumping over the shark moment, chasing the bad guy on a motorbike down the road on a horse. I actually laughed out loud at this point. Not worth watching.

Good movie, maybe slow for some
1 June 2020
I found the movie an entertaining watch. The acting was excellent as was the photography etc. The story is slow but it suits the location and is sufficiently interesting. No fancy special effects and only a few actors but well done. Definitely worth a watch.

Reasonable if strained episode
31 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Introducing Danny who goes from hero to zero to hero or is it the other way round. The case was very confusing with a bit of a rushed murderer reveal. Did seem a bit of a way of introducing Danny and accidentally solving a murder. The reaction of the previous suspect was very odd at the end. Singing and happy whilst her 'best friend' has just confessed to a murder she had almost been jailed for.

Ok but very predictable
18 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The acting is quite good and so is the story. It has the feel of a TV movie, maybe it was. The story unfortunately was extremely predictable and in some occasions I actually laughed. Dumb decisions are the meat of the these movies and we have plenty here. Just for once or maybe a number of times can the baddie not win?
