Jingle All the Way (1996)
Holiday Entertainment Scores A "10"
"Jingle all the way" is a fine Christmas movie a light-hearted comedy and family film and should be judged accordingly... Considering the category, it gets an "A" in my book.
I love this holiday gem, Arnold Schwarzenegger fan or not! Sinbad is a beautiful comedian and a solid casting choice for this holiday charmer. Add beloved Phil Hartman to the mix and great becomes better!
If you're looking for cheer during the holiday season, you'll find it here. Highly recommended, if you're in the mood for comedy, adventure and fun... regardless of the time of season.
If you love to laugh, you'll love this film!
Fireproof (2008)
More than a Movie
Most of the time, a movie is simply a movie... Not this go around.
It's wonderful to see a unique story with a solid message. "The Love Dare" experiment is likely something which has helped a great number of couples :) How often is it that a film can serve both as entertainment and provide something so useful and ever lasting? Though considered a family film, I'm not sure this would hold the attention of youngsters below the age of 17, but none the less, entertainment that is safe viewing for all.
Clever title for a clever film. Fine work, fine filmmaking and fine story! This movie won't be forgotten :)
Flipped (2010)
What would we do without Rob!
I'll keep this brief! A movie for anyone of any age. Truly an uplifting an humorous film, which reminds us all of how great life can be when we keep things in perspective. This one is now part of my collection, as is any Rob Reiner film.
I loved the story of us and am always amazed at this filmmaker's in depth understanding of both human complexity and humor. It is the story that makes the film and this is a must see example of such!
Heart, love, life are consistent themes for this filmmaker, thank God. This sort of responsibility is all to often over-looked by may of today's directors and producers alike.
Flipped for Flipped :)
Highly recommended.
Somebody's Hero (2012)
We need this!
Some say we need more heroes... I say we need more stories like this. "Somebody's Hero" is a charming tale that champions spirit, heart, and hope.
Going in I thought this would be a superhero movie made for children, so I wasn't expecting much. Although kids will certainly enjoy the fun, there's something here for adults. This go around I found myself surrendering to simplicity and forgetting financial limitations (there are some). Dialog was well-written and superbly executed by a fun and unique cast. Delivered with compassion, this story provoked thought, leaving one to question how they treat others.
Unfortunately, harder, more expecting movie-goers will probably dismiss this movie as an overly sentimental and unrealistic film. However, in a world where role models can be tough to find, this is a film which can inspire our youth to care, without expecting reward or remuneration. That alone is a substantial achievement.
Fine work by a talented group of filmmakers who are certainly heroes in my book!
