Welcome to Mooseport (2004)
Went from bad to better
Yes, yes. It went from horribly slow and flat in the beginning to a fresh hilarious comedy about midway through. It starts out somewhat boring, but gets unbelievably funny, especially Christine Baranski, who didn't fail to make me laugh. This movie did have a charming story line, with that inevitable love interest here and there, but still, it made me laugh hard to the point where my stomach hurt. (3.5)/5 stars
Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004)
As a sequal normally is..
Didn't provide the comedy the first one had, but Barbershop 2 wasn't half bad. Unfortunately, Queen Latifah's part wasn't too big, and I got most of my laughs from the parts she was in. Her spin-off movie, BeautyShop, should be along the same lines of Barbershop from a more feminine point of view. However, sticking with Barbershop 2, Calvin and crew still deliver the days laughs and cuts, with a good amount of soul to set the movie on.
Hannibal (2001)
Simply Bad
This movie made no sense, and half of it is completely irrelevant. I could hardly even hear what was going on half the time. This movie was such a dissapointment compared to Silence of the Lambs which was purely breathtaking. Red Dragon was also better than this. Hannibal was my least favorite of all 3 Lector movies, a quite honestly bad movie.
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Outside it may be raining but this movie keeps on entertaining...
This movie captures the essence of theatrical art. It modernizes the stereotypical Hollywood Musical with a twist to 18-century Paris. Nicole Kidman is beyond phenominal and is more than compatible with Ewan McGreggor. 9/10 stars, rent it, or you're losing out on one hell of a movie. DVD extras are even better.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Good, but not Excellent
For a 70's flick, i must say it wasn't half bad. Good tunes, freakish story line, but amusing. Tim Curry rocked as Furter. Though the transexuality was a bit awkward in the movie. Still, a decent movie. Exceptional cult classic. 3.5/5 stars
Rollerball (2002)
Downright Bad
This movie was downright bad, and im usually good/leniant about reviewing movies, but this one was BAD. Honestly, I was bored from about 10 minutes into it. The only good, eye opening parts were the actual Rollerball Arena Game sequences themselves, but at that, it was nothing thrilling. Definitely not worth seeing this movie. 2 thumbs DOWN.
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999)
Better than expected
South Park, despite it's trashy, bad mouthed reputation, this movie was actually (shockingly) good. I just saw it for the first time, and even though the language and gestures were (as usual) quite provocative and obscene, it's hilarious. I was particularly fond of the music in the movie. The movie contains several original catchy jingles, like La Resistance, Blame Canada, Mountain Town, and It's Easy, Mmmkay (as you can guess, feat. Mr. Mackey). I give this movie thumbs up, hilarious, yet I agree that it shouldn't be for those under a certain age. They take full advantage of the R rating, just a heads up. To conclude my review, this movie was hilarious, catchy, and overall awesome. You have to be accepting of this type of humor too, or you just might think it's some sick, twisted perverted flick. I just wanted to comment and give it my 2 cents in saying that I liked this movie.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Rocks
The only reason I gave Two Towers a 9 was because I just saw Return of the King yesterday and that blew 1 and 2 out of the water. Two Towers was phenominal though, don't get me wrong, completely worth seeing. The Helms Deep battle scene was great. I loved the Fangorn Forest scenes as well; Treebeard must've been one of my favorites. Although Frodo and Sam's role becomes completely separated from the rest of the Fellowship at Rohan and Helm's Deep, the entire movie is spectacular. 9/10
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
Wow
This movie was simply stunning, I'm not sure if I'll ever again see such a powerful, while at the same time soft touching movie. It combines the emotional aspects of Fellowship with the battle effects of Two Towers, in a cinematic masterpiece. Jackson has outdone himself. I don't mean to idolize, but this'll be on I'll talk about for weeks to come. I'm planning on seeing it several more times. The downfall, it's the last, sadly concluding this epic. Does anyone know if they're planning to do The Hobbit? To end this, I can't express within the limits, my gratitude and love towards this movie. Can't wait for the extended dvd! This movie gets a 10!
