The Baker (2022)
Dark scenes
May as well try to watch a podcast.
The 4 stars are for what little I could discern of the acting.
This movie exemplifies my decision, made only this morning, to waste no more of my time on modern movies.
Happily I have a comprehensive library going back decades. Should keep me entertained until my last breath.
My review too short. No problem.

Page Eight (2011)
Brilliant
The First of the Johnny Worricker trilogy.
An understated spy mystery, in the vein of Le Carre.
Wonderfully entertaining if you like the genre, as do I.
The Newsroom (2012)
Excellent
Loved it.
Great acting and writing.
Gives The West Wing a run for its money, in the entertainment stakes.
The West Wing (1999)
Perfection
I had to watch the series twice just to understand half of the very fast dialogue. Subtitles also helped.
Very intelligent writing and strongly believable acting.
For those who do not require an endless diet of car chases and loud bangs, this is as good as it gets.
The heroes in this political series are 20th century Democrats, just before the rise of the neoliberals. You may wish to suspend your beliefs, as did this libertarian.
The Looming Tower (2018)
Excellent
A realistic journey from the Al Qaeda bombings of the East African embassy and USS Cole until September 11.
Puts on display the animosity between CIA and the FBI. Shows the deep beliefs held by the Jihadis.
Omits the part played by the West in the formation of Al Qaeda.
Acting and writing par excellence.
Shock and Awe (2017)
Worth Watching
Very educational for those unable to digest a thick book.
Especially for those, like my family members, who consider main stream media to be arbiters of truth. Alas Ed Murrow is longer active.
In the same vein as Spotlight or All the Presidents Men, but not as entertaining.
Lake Placid (1999)
Brilliant
One of my top five favorite comedies.
Great cast, Great writing, a real gem.
Viewers relishing the horror may be disappointed.
Britannia (2017)
Excellent
Historical documentary it is not.
Highly entertaining fantasy adventure, with dry comedy dialogue, it be.
Loved the music.
Disliked the atmospheric dark scenes. May as well have been on a podcast at times.
Anticipating season 3 with fine enthusiasm.
