Lift (2024)
Good Lord.. seriously!!
I know this 1 rating may be a little emotional, but it is because I feel that I was "lifted" (pun intended). I've been waiting for January 12 to stream Lift and Killers of the Flower Moon, and silly me, I was even more anxious to see Kevin than Leo. So, I had great expectations on this one, and looking forward to Netflix financing heist number 2 and probably a number 3.
But this group is dead on arrival. I don't think I saw much chemistry, instead poor dialogues, awful acting, not-funny-nonsense everywhere, and a contrived script, which intended to do a lot bringing nothing.
I am really sorry because I love heist movies, but besides a good heist, you need to love the heisters... that's the reason why you are rooting for them to keep the loot and go scot free... otherwise, you could even desire a little jail time (perhaps?)
The Longest Week (2014)
People should revisit this little gem!!
If by IMDB rating, this film may have been outside my radar. It is nothing but the longstanding confirmation that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. For Woody Allen fans (consider me one of the them; the director, not the man), the movie has this Allen-esque style: perfect music, great words, and regardless of an apparent frivolity, substance.
Ok, it might not be a classic 8 under the movie ratings standards, but how could I get it higher so that others take notice of this little gem. Some users complain that it is slow, but find a quiet evening and enjoy the pace, because that's part of watching a good film. And for those who didn't get the joke, one word for you: Witzelsucht!!
Alien Warfare (2019)
Netflix... are you serious?
This piece of nonsense, amateurish-joke-of-a-movie, was recommended by Netflix as similar to the Book of Eli... I don't see how movies fans of the latter, would even spend 10 minutes watching the former. But, Netflix had them together and after just 5 minutes into it, I thought of it as a bad joke, algorithm glitch, or any other mind or tech disorder... Cant even imagine how they could pull this one?
Infinite (2021)
Give me a break!!
Seriously!! With plenty of money in the pocket and high profile stars, including the director, and this is the best they can come up?! This is a piece of crap, nonsense, and idiotic, which cost me a nice time with the wife, who btw remains unforgiving for inviting her to watch this movie on our Friday night!
Bliss (2021)
Surprise how many people are not getting it.
I must tag along with other reviewers that are calling attention for the low rating of this movie. This is a great movie, whose average rating should be around 7.2/ 7.4. It's unfortunate that even so-called experts critics are not getting it. There is no science fiction at all...!! so stop complaining about the complexities of not understanding which world is real, and which is not, and whether there any scientific basis for Isabel convoluted explanations. It's a simple but artistically filmed story of one man who becomes an addict (there is no need to go for that story, but be sure his mind has not been in a good place for some long time). That man has found a woman with her own mental and addiction issues, who also happens to have a more lively imagination and stronger personality. Estranged from their families, they struggle, and find solace in tripping and escaping to an orderly, peaceful, beautiful place, which they called and would love to be the real world; the addict alternate reality. The trick is that once you realize that they are both creating their own world, you have the director permission to imagine what is the reality behind all of this, including what might really happened when they use their so-called superpowers. Lovely finish; one that many who had similar family struggles can relate to, while others may be living with the hope for, at least, a late arrival of their own flowers.
