Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001)
very surprised
Normally I am detested by Japanese Animated features. I come from a background of loving many of the old Warner Brothers cartoons, and saw Jap-Animation as a threat, along side of Mtv, Nickelodean, and Cartoon Network, ruining children's cartoons. (I really prefer not to elaborate because I don't want to push any buttons on this board.) But this movie was phenomenal, its very rare that I am impressed by modern cartoons now days but this film dazzled me so much that I had to rewind the film and watch it again the next day. There is so much neo-mythology and Post Alice Traumatic Stress Syndrome in this movie that I was tickled, honestly. There is a lot of imagination and colorful ideas and I wish that there can be many more animated pictures of this quality to come in the future - the movie resembled a lot of the wacky weirdness that were around in the old Betty Boop or Silly Symphonies cartoons, the animators really touched a chord in me and I thank them full heartedly.
Baby Looney Tunes (2001)
the anti Christ
This is the worst thing that has ever graced the world of television. I am appalled the way the Looney Tunes empire has gone. No longer are the days were children can experience Looney Tunes in all of its yester year glory, instead we have this crap factory of nonsense. The very fact that they have stripped down the characters into a bunch of sappy #%$##$%#% puss bags, but they don't even show the original show on television any more, if this isn't bad enough, I went to several Blockbuster locations he other day and couldn't find any of the original Looney Tunes cartoons on the shelves instead there was crap like Baby Looney Tunes and Reality CHeck and all that other post Mel Blanc - Chuck Jones garbage. If either of these two geniuses were alive today I'm sure they would tie these anti christs responsible for this deplorable garbage to train tracks, fill their mouths full of dynamite and let the Union Pacific roll over their miserable and mind numbing heads. Some of you may not agree with me, but children's cartoons have all gone to hell ever since the eighties and if you don't believe me well, I don't know what to say then.
Steal This Movie (2000)
steal this crap
Let me start out by saying that I am a huge fan of Abbie Hoffman and have read Steal this Book and Steal this Urine Test. Also am a even bigger Jerry Rubin fan. But his movie was a discusting pile of rubbish that made a very PG version of Abbie Hoffman. The director took no chances into making Abbie Hoffman interesting in this movie. They despicted Stew Albert as a F***ing cartoon chjaractor devoid of intellegence, the man was a proffesor at Berkley for christsakes. Ok they did a horrid casting job for Anita Hoffman, did a Horrible job casting for the Jerry Rubin character. I just guess the movie doesnt fit the news flashes that I have seen of Abbie or the books that he wrote. The movie just didnt fit and upset me. Oh yeah and theat is the absolute worst voice over I have ever heard of Richard Nixon. This is one of the few movies that I have ever rented that I could not sit all the way through because, I have a passion for Abbie Hoffman and his discruntled band of Yippies and this movie was just plain badly done. And it hurt me that now when people see a movie about the yippies they will see a terrible adaptation, and not get a true sense of reality. Instead they get a hollywoodized palanthra of crap.
Needful Things (1993)
terrible adaptation
Needful Things was one of my favorite Stephen King books. But this movie is one of the worst book to film adaptations I have ever seen they changed so many things around that it made me sick. Even the concept of the book being deception, things not always what they appear reminder throughout the book was not shown in the movie. Althogh it was enjoyable as many Stephen King films are, but as many Stephen King films this one did not follow the book and became a piece of Hollywood trailer trash. 2/10
