The Alienist (2018)
I loved Season 2
I've read many reviews that seem compelled by a sort of male fragility, people wondering why Sara now leads the investigation (which is perfectly explained in the writing of the show), why does she do everything, when it's clear she is reluctant to do so, and still needs approval from the male characters (don't worry, boys), or why strong John is weakened by love and the inability to chose what's best for him.
Well, it's one thing if some people don´t like the writing and the ways in which the story unfolds, that is fair, but another thing is to claim there is any unlikeliness to it. It would be the same as claiming not to like Sherlock Holmes because his power of deduction is somehow unrealistic.
That being said, I loved Season 2, it brought such a fine complexity to the main and secondary characters. It made a compelling story that often makes us empathize with everyone (well, almost everyone). This season made me, for the first time (more than season 1), want to follow the lives of these characters for as long as I can. Beautifully written, beautifully played and beautifully wrapped up.
High Fidelity (2020)
Why this was cancelled?
Top 5 reasons this show is amazing:
1. It's not a reboot, it's a remake (with tributes to its predecessor) - and it's fresh a.f..
2. The cast.
3. The soundtrack
4. The writing
5. The ending feels real
Flaws - the editing, sometimes. It was starting to get really interesting storywise and it was cancelled.
Breaking Bad: Gliding Over All (2012)
Ever a good episode, although difficult to explain
Brilliant writing, excellent acting and great suspense, as always. Nevertheless, I found very difficult to explain why the f*** sake did Walter, so careful and thorough, forgot that important object on the toilet! The guy, at this point, thinks of everything, every little detail, but he forgot that he owns a book given to him by Gale with a written dedication so explicit that could frame his ass so hard if found by his brother-in-law, whom weekly takes a dump at his house. I'm not hunting witches here guys, I'm not looking for flaws. I love this show so much that it kind of let me down on this one. Still, I forgive you.
