Somewhere in Time (1980)
A wonderful movie about addiction
Spoilers ahead.
A young artist got a writers block and while in a retreat outside his normal life he became obssesd with the idea of beauty you cannot transcend. Eventually he seeks advice about a mistic doctor about reaching that state of happiness. The advice comes as a metaphor substance abuse. A set of instructions of what to do to reach an altered state of consciousness. Moving forward we can see our hero transported in his bliss illusion and enjoying his time there, in pure happiness, up to the very end where the viewer realize it that he is actually dying, underfed, confused, out of touch with reality caught in his illusion.
Person of Interest (2011)
The show we deserve, not the one we need.
You know that feeling of being so tired any yet awake, your brain is scrapping for some guidance, it is late, you lay on your couch unable to move it to the shower or maybe straight to bed? So you open the TV and after a few zaps you find yourself watching what is maybe the worst movie you ever seen? Maybe a sci fi one, maybe something else. But is bad. The script sucks, the dialogs are out of this world, the acting is terrible and yet, in spite of all this it is somehow entertaining ? And you keep watching because what the heck
you need to see if the next stupid hole will be bigger than the previous one.
Person of interest is about the relationship of 2 very different people. A very enigmatic millionaire genius and an ex CIA bum (also enigmatic as hell). They team together to solve petty crimes and grow a sense of purposes. The millionaire genius could have probably get that sense of purpose much more efficient in a hundred other ways but some reason only he could only team up with the ex CIA bum. The ex CIA bum is very skillful paranoid warrior so it takes about 3 minutes to be convinced to get into this mix. From the very first second of the pilot we can see all the stereotypes you can think about and more. The very honest skillful cop who can read people. The elusive, enigmatic and EXTREMELY private millionaire that has apparently unlimited resources but somehow chooses to do all the work himself. No strike that – as private as he is, he does have some private high end muscle with him in the pilot. But never again. Consequently we do find out that if you push a high end bodyguard fighter (lightly) he will fall and then he will stand up looking extremely disoriented and not following up anyhow. I could go on forever. The holes in writing and in what should be common sense never stop. Fast forward few episodes, we see some highly trained CIA operatives cornering our ex CIA BUM. One being at 30 feet away, one at maybe 100, with a sniper. Our hero is alone. And he is shot. Twice. Once in the belly and once in the foot. He fells. The operative with the sniper blinks. And just like that, our hero is gone. The operatives are extremely confused. "Where could he be? What happen? We lost him in the heat of the moment". We see the hero walking away slowly. He is wounded. We feel for him. The operatives already gave up and left, after all 1 second has passed.
As I mentioned in the title, this is the show we deserve, not the one we need. Why should we have something decent? Watching this or watching CSI Miami is just the same thing. I just do not understand how can this piece of crap can get such a high rating score
666 Park Avenue (2012)
Devil's Advocate Rip Off
Well - they tried to capture the magic from devil's advocate at least, but Rachel is no Charlize Teron, Dave Anabele is no Keanu Reaves and definitely - Terry Q'Quinn is no Pacino. They are trying though and if the script resemblance would not be so close it would not strike you as somehow cheesy and cheap at the end of the day. Anyhow - lots of twists that can go different directions, obviously is not an exact copy and this may go in the right way and become something decent. I applaud the aim towards a good angle here (devil's advocate was a masterpiece) that's why a 7 out of 10 but this show must find its own identity soon.
Best of luck guys. 7/10
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
OK - truth be told
I have seen this right after i seen The Raid:Redemption - so obviously, after that, - "The Dark Knight rises" was sluggish, slow and so on - and the action scenes remind me a lot with action scenes from the original star trek with Kirk fighting aliens in slow motion. I did not appreciate anything about this movie - from the retard plot to the constant whining and inner struggle of the main char. Nor his comeback and push ups or anything else. Nor the constant epiphanies and speeches everyone's having. The movie is a huge budget disgrace and the fact is was successful it is probably related somehow with 2 things: -Previous batman was a success (because of Heath Ledger and his unfortunate passing) so obviously everyone wanted to see this one. -Human race is going on the same path as foretold in the "Idiocracy" movie. Which will certainly explain the IMDb rating for this disgrace.
