Major Grom (2017)

Funny, short teaser for "Major Grom: Plague Doctor"
16 July 2021
Based on the "Major Grom" comix series, quite famous among Russian speakers.

The movie is a set of cliche and despite that I really liked it The catch of this 23 min only movie is in the overal quality of the filming and ... tiny funny details, truly from "modern Russia".

Too "Charlize Teron" movie
1 August 2017
I see this movie as quite standard "Action Movies Channel" one. Indeed - good actors, good filming, great costume designers and quite interesting plot... but ... sort of "standard movie". A bit of cliché for this type, a-la James Bond movies. A lot of fighting - martial arts... But after these 1.5 hrs in cinema I felt disappointment and sort of emptiness. Even after "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." was better, thanks for its humor.

Good for kids up to 11-13
29 July 2017
The story is simple, not a smart one, not a funny one (ok, a bit). Just a simple story for an evening entertainment. Not a great story to be taught. Several months passed since we watched this, only 3 years old boy somehow remembers the monster truck, the rest of kids never discussed it, what I see is quite bad for such a budget.

One of the best musical sitcoms I've ever watched
6 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not good in writing reviews, but this dorama was brilliant so I decided to write something about it.

First of all - the plot is good, the casting is BRILLIANT - all the characters fit their roles for 100%, the music is very-very good, performance, makeup and costumes are good too. Thus all this in a bunch makes this dorama really exciting. Honestly, I see this 'sitcom'- dorama as the best in the line of all the musical series, I've seen in my life (I'm nearly 41, thus I have some experience in it :))

THE STORY: It's a story about 6 students of Kirin High School of Art in Seul - the school for pop talents - dancers, singers, composers. It starts from showing a girl (Go Hye Mi) singing opera on a stage. Next, we see shy girl (Yoon Baek Hee), acting like a Hye Mi's fan. She's Hye Mi's admirer and friend. Later it appears, Hye Mi's father went bankrupt and run away of the country, owing some money to mafia. Mafia tries to get the money from Hye Mi and this brings her from the way of opera singer to the Kirin school. Next we see Hye Mi's teachers (Kang Oh Hyuk, Shi Kyung Jin). Also we see future Hye Mi's friends - violent Jin Gook, country man Song Sam Dong, cool dancer Jason and strange person in a sushi costume (Kim Pil Sook). Hye Mi and Baek Hee will try to pass the entrance exams to Kirin school. Hye Mi will fail, but the school principal will open a special class for the students (and a teacher), who, by his opinion, worth something. Thus it is just the beginning of the story.

Try to get it and see by your own eyes :)

I'd like to study in such a college
7 September 2009
What 'smart and good' kids can do, when they aren't accepted in any college, when they usually don't exactly know what they want from their life? They usually do nothing smart, except searching for fun, making profit from serving as waiters, cashiers, and all the other kinds low paid jobs, loosing the time, when brain is just ready for a lot of new information, people just need to get WHAT THEY WANT.

The society wants them to fulfill 'boxes' AKA known colleges and other educational institutes, but what percent of kids REALLY know what they want? What percent of those people just enforced to do what they doesn't really want (like studying computers instead of being painter). Parents, teachers, relatives and all the society pushes them toward decisions, which rarely go well with the 'internal willings of the kid'.

So here we are - smart funny guy Bartleby Gains, who did not accepted...and his best friends did not accepted too. But Bartleby is kind of "outlaw", it means he CAN find a way, where other people cannot see the way. Bartleby makes his own college, where people study what they want! It worth watching for anybody, who loses their grip :)

Good casting, but awful movie
18 October 2008
It's amazingly awful movie: good actors and casting, somewhat average-to-bad idea, bad filming which made worse by production; very bad operator's work, bad staging/production of fighting and car racing, bad filming of Vin Diesel, strange-to-bad work of Depardieu, weird scenery design and so on. I feel it like waste of time and money.

The plot itself is kind of weird: pseudo-Christian ideas of new messiah, brought to the world by some virgin... when virgin herself is made by scientist - she's robot! And to make it better - virgin brings 2 babies to the world...ha-ha - 2 Messiahs, girls :) In case she's real Messiah - she's to know what to do :) But not in this movie. Uff, I'm angry to Kossovitz and staff.. nothing to add.
