October Faction (2020)
Not Terrible nor Exceptional
Reviewers who attempt to influence the overall rating of shows by giving 1 star are being disingenuous. Rarely is any show that bad, and
while certainly this series about a monster hunting family is somewhat uneven at times, it's no worse than many others in the genre.
The children are typical moody teenagers trying to fit into their new school, so nothing out of the ordinary there.
The parents are world traveling monster hunters returning to their hometown to settle down, but unable to escape their calling. Nothing too terrifying or groundbreaking, but still fairly entertaining.
Still Standing (2015)
Better than you'd think
Have watched a few episodes now and actually this show is better than you'd think. During each episode Jonny Harris visits a smallish Canadian town and spends some time with it's people, learning about what makes it unique - often getting his "hands dirty" in trying out some of the local occupations and activities.
The format flips back and forth between that and him doing a stand up routine for the townspeople, with them being the source of his material, and it's quite funny, although always gentle and respectful. Definitely worth your time if you're interested in Canada and proud of our diversity.
The Murders (2019)
Exceptionally bad.
Usually won't leave bad reviews, but this is one of the worst written cop dramas I have ever seen.
Watched a few episodes (just to ensure I'm not being too harsh), and to pass the tedium, made a game of counting the numerous illogical or unprofessional decisions the main characters make each episode.
Even the motivation behind the actions of the criminals' they encounter make no sense.
The dialog is nonsensical as well, so really hard to fault the actors in this case.
Love a good mystery show, but unfortunately this is not one of them.
