Darkest Hour (2017)
Totally fantastic
When we watch any film on the Second World War we still can't understand or over estimate the enormity of the event. The story of Britain's struggle and our stand alone against the Germans is truly epic. This film brings home the struggle we had in the early days brilliantly. Churchill was full of flaws and almost eccentric but he was a totally brilliant leader. This film shows his brilliance perfectly with superb acting and script. Having been to a lot of the places portrayed in the film (Chartwell, Churchill war rooms) it was very realistic. Garry Oldman was absolutely off the scale acting. You totally believe he is Sir Winston Churchill. In short it's rather a good film.
Star Trek: Picard: Disengage (2023)
AT LAST. Star Trek is back
AT LAST. Star Trek is back This is proper stories, proper characters, proper villains. I loved the first series but the second was far to complicated. To many characters. And I never thought I would say this but the Borg is used to many times in plot lines. This third season is the nearest to next generation as you can get. It's so warming to see all the old characters back too. There is something so comforting in the characters and story line. Even the names of Le Forge and Beverly Crusher is lovely. I'd guess the next generation actors would not be willing to make mire series but I'd pay to watch series 4. 5. etc.
