From Scratch (2022)
Hmmmm 🤔
3 November 2022
I started watching this yesterday and was very confused about Zoe Saldana being cast. I came to imdb to confirm Zoe and myself are roughly the same age (I'm 43 she's 44). I kept thinking "are they trying to say this girl is in her 20s?" I found it distracting as other reviewers pointed out. I kept trying to figure out if she was supposed to be older and started school late (absolutely nothing wrong with that) or what but, no, she's supposed to be in her 20s. She's beautiful and youthful but it just really was distracting and nonsensical imo. (my younger coworkers think I'm younger than I am but no way can I pass for 20 something either and that's OK!)

I read a review that said if she was a partner at a law firm and then made a career change it would make more sense. I agree with that.

I think I made it through 1 ep or so before falling asleep. I didn't understand why she brought the gallery owner twice to Lino's restaurant. It's Zoe clueless? Cmon

I wasnt going to continue with the show because I just didn't find it interesting. But I was spoiled by some headlines that tragedy is coming so I may continue.

Plus I'm half Sicilian so I feel compelled to see more of Lino lol

I better cry by the end or I'll be mad that I sat through this show.

What a chore to watch
28 August 2022
Netflix recommended this to me. I decided to watch it while I worked out.

Wow what a chore to watch.

I usually can find charm in stupid movies like this but this just was so terrible and I like CW shows haha

It was laughably bad.

The two "kids" (the guy looked 30)didn't seem at all believably in love. Their romance was just cheesy and nonsensical

The best part were the dads and the sad mom (who is also included in my Ps)

I just don't see the point in why this was made. I never saw the original or read the book.

Ps Hollywood pls stop casting British actors in American roles if they can't do the accent. It's obvious and distracting.

Everything christinaamariotti said
9 August 2022
Christinaamariotti basically wrote my thoughts in her review.

The movie could have really been amazing had they focused on the mother/daughter relationship, such a heartbreaking storyline that was! (crying just thinking about it)

And also more Harrison Ford. The wife dead and Adeline and him sparking something up as it's clear they still loved each other and had feelings for each other.

Adeline definitely seemed to have had a more epic relationship with Harrison Ford than Ellis.(i just didn't care for Ellis and felt they had no chemistry)

Blake is not the best actress and It felt like Serena van der Woodsen was trying to act in a movie. But she looked fabulous with her hairstyles and outfits. Can't deny Blake is a very gorgeous woman.

Movie definitely had potential but as Harrison Ford's character said "a near miss"

Buoy is boo-ee in America
2 February 2022
In response to the other reviewer about how to pronounce buoy Marty said it as boo-ee Which is how I also pronounce it as does anyone I've ever spoke to about buoys (I live on an island so "buoys" come up more than I'd like lol) I then wondered "have I been saying buoy wrong my entire life?" I had to look it up.

As per my research Americans say buoy as boo-ee British people say it as boy This is as per my "how do you pronounce buoy search"

Maybe that reviewer is British? I am not sure but boo-ee is how the Google search for American English said

But I digress, great ep.

A little too on the nose re: Charlotte at the end Solid acting from everyone Glad to see Marty and Wendy having a real conversation about their relationship.

Great ep to a mediocre season
27 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was not a huge fan on this season at all but this last episode was really great.

I'm happy about the breakup between Kevin and Madison (altho it seems like they'll end up together in the future =( ) I felt like something was going to happen with Kate's boss when he said she was beautiful and wouldn't let her resign.

I was happy to see them getting married (Toby has grown on me but I did not like him at all when Kate and him originally got together)

The Randall /Rebecca storyline made me cry. It was a really beautiful scene.

While I liked that Beth and Tess had a loving moment, I don't think most people want to wear or like their bridesmaid gowns. It's just something we are all forced to do at some point in our lives.* Lord knows I had to wear a dress I hated to my brother's wedding (Tess's dress was so much better!) * I think it was disrespectful to alter the dress without the bride's permission. Life is about grinning and bearing it sometimes and not making it all about you and your feelings.

I think if Tess brought it up beforehand Madison would have been receptive to changing her look.

I want to say Deja looked absolutely stunning (all the girls did) but wow Deja looked so beautiful. I am so happy for Malik getting into all the schools! I hope he winds up being the father of her baby.

I know some people think the ending was a mislead but I've read that it's legit Toby and Kate are divorcing and she's marrying her boss. (who I've been seeing popping a lot since You're The Worst ended) Go, Chris Geere!

Good ep
25 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
One of the better episodes this season. My least favorite season so far.

As another pointed out, looks like Madison will be calling off the wedding.... At least I hope so. I just don't like her and I don't like them together. It all seems really unrealistic.

Please TIU, anyone not Madison!

I always forget Beth has been close to the family since she was a kid. I adore Beth and I like how she can have a clear se relationship with Rebecca.

Miguel........ I'm not sure what to say about him...... I like the actor but the character is so boring I forget he exists.

Toby.... He looks really good and I hope he gets the job he wants

Kate is even becoming a better character. Maybe it's just me but when she watched Kevin in the video she looked like she didn't feel Kevin wanted to be with Madison...but then only asked Madison if she was happy. Maybe she was just trying to sew the seed 🌱

I want Kevin and Sophie to be together... I don't think this will happen... But a girl can dream.

He's probably going to stay with Madison just because I don't want that. 😂 She's more tolerable I guess..... But..... Just no!

This was I one of the best episodes in awhile because it really brought back the heartfelt emotion of The Fosters. The moms are the best. I definitely cried multiple times.

I wish more episodes were like this one. The family dynamic is so beautiful.

Gossip Girl Meets Pride and Prejudice
9 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I never read the books so I can't compare. I had no idea what this show was all about but I definitely heard the controversy with having POC in it.

I really can't imagine a woman alive seeing that unbelievably handsome man who played Simon and not falling in love with him.

The show was sappy and soap opera-ish but entertaining nonetheless.

I laughed. I cried. I fell in love.

There are definitely faults to this show with many characters but it's charming and I enjoyed it anyway.

Daphn was a bit too "Kiera Knightly" for my tastes, but she was cute.

Anthony was one of my least favorite characters as he was joyless and just boring.

Eloise was charming and very Jo March-ish, which I liked.

Simon was so handsome and Mr Darcy-ish, I couldn't help but love him.

I wondered if Dan Humphries would make an appearance as Lady Whistledown (lmao)

I'm glad they revealed her in the end rather than make us wait (if there even is a second season).

I'd like to see Penelope get a happy ending. Also, I'm curious who inherited the Featherington home (if they told us I missed it).

I hope Will (the fighter) was not hurt due to the Featherington bet.

Overall, I was entertained (which is the point I believe). I will definitely tune in for a second season.

Sometimes you just have to put reality out of your mind and take things for what they are. It's just fiction. Don't take it too seriously.

Not what I expected
26 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The moment Harper said she lied about being out to her parents, I would have been out of the situation. I would have ubered home with harper paying. Harper was so disrespectful throughout the entire movie, I really felt for poor Abby. (who was really trying to be a trooper) Dan levy (voice of reason) said things exactly as I felt them aside the ending where he felt she should forgive harper.

F that noise!

Abby should have gotten with Aubrey plaza. I was rooting for that.

Disappointed it didn't go in that direction. Nightmare gf. Nightmare family.

Kristen Stewart wasn't as bad as I thought. She looked really beautiful...

Roswell, New Mexico (2019–2022)

Not as terrible as I first thought
17 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I sorta liked the original Roswell (not the last season). I had the hugest crush on Michael.

When introduced to the new Michael of Roswell, New Mexico I was really disappointed.

.... But he really grew on me! He's my favorite now.

Michael and Alex had no chemistry so I don't know why they cast people with no chemistry to have a forbidden love story. I definitely felt the chemistry between Michael and Maria. And Alex and Maria. I imagined a threesome (surprised it actually happened on the CW!)

All the characters grew on me aside Max. He has more chemistry with his "sister" then he does with Liz. Also, why cast the girl that plays his partner to look just like Isobel? The sex scene with the partner really confused me because I thought it was Isobel! Although, the door can be opened for Max and Isobel (I'm kinda hoping it will).

It was fun seeing some Vampire Diaries alum (Tyler and Vicki). I had no idea Michael Trivino was Mexican irl and at first he seemed miscast to me as I've only ever seen him play white roles.

I do not understand what they put in the dumb side story in s2 with Kyle (Trivino) and some rando girl Steph. I guess they ran out of storyline for Kyle.

The end of s2 has me interested in s3.

Even though I wasn't the hugest fan of the original Max, it was really great seeing him in flashbacks of the past. He had good chemistry with Michael's mom. And was that Sophia Bush I saw playing Isobels mom? They looked so alike! Great casting!

I laughed at the reviews that have keep speaking about the "gay agenda"... Lmao! What are your crazy people even saying.

I guess they don't mind humans and aliens as long as it's male/female. Laughable!

I'll be tuning in to see season 3.

Wanted to like it more
13 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have never seen anything with Pete Davidson....i have only seen headlines of him with hot actresses Instagram and people making fun of his looks. Tbh, I can see his charm under the facade.

I thought that the movie would be "more" than what it was. It seemed like if it went a bit deeper it would have been more heartfelt.

I loved the interactions with the children. It was pretty cute.

There was absolutely no chemistry between Pete's character and the "love interest." It didn't even seem like he was remotely interested in her, treated her like a friend that he had sex with only (didn't even seem like he enjoyed having sex with her either)... But by the end he said he loved her? (I think? By the end I was getting bored and playing on my phone) I didn't really buy that at all. Plus, the girl seemed pretty pathetic to put up with it and Then keep trying to get attention when he just didn't respond to it. But then he loved her and was scared? Boyfriend material right there! Lolol

Anyway, back to the real plot of Scott's issues with dealing with his father's death in 9/11. That really sounds like a good storyline but it just stays too shallow for me to really care. And I wanted to care more. I wanted to cry I felt at sad... But I didn't! I cry at everything I watch these days but not this.. I know it's a truly Heartfelt to me when I get all choked up and/or cry.

I did laugh a few times but this movie either needed to be more funny or more sad or both. Ie Ricky Gervais's Afterlife - I laughed, I cried... It was heartfelt. Or Schitt's Creek.. I laughed, I cried, it was heartfelt. This movie I laughed a little.

Also, why does Staten Island seem like it's in the wrong decade? Marisa Tomei looked like she was in the early 80s with that hair and the glasses. I honestly didn't even recognize her at first. That hair cut was god awful! She's hot... She just played Aunt Mae in Spiderman and was super hot... And in this I could not get passed the haircut.

Also, that guy Ray seemed weird and I agreed with Scott that his mother should not date him! First, I knew he would be back to hit on her because she said her husband was dead. (predatory behavior in my opinion) Then he makes Scott take his kids to school after Scott tattooed his son. Ray does not notify his ex wife or the school that a strange man would be doing this. That's bizarre to me. Also, he lied to Marisa Tomei that he was living in the fire house. Also weird. To me, he was manipulative and trying to worm his way into her house to have a place to stay and having Scott be kicked out. Not cool, Ray!

I guess there's a happy ending? I honestly don't remember today. (I saw it last night) It was too long for not that much going on in the plot.

But, I sorta like Pete Davidson now.

This did not seem like a Judd Apatow movie aside from having his daughter in this playing Scott's sister. (she's not that great of an actress but she's beautiful at least)

I love me some high school dramas!

I've watched so many things lately and most of them have not been good.

This entertained me. I liked the characters. Almost everyone is hot of course. Predictable story, but most things are.

Eh

I heard about this show for a long time. I'm on season 2. I don't particularly like it. Everyone is hideously ugly. The teenagers (aside James) look like middle aged women. I'm a middle aged woman and I look younger than these "high school girls". There's no jokes that stand out. Nothing quotable to go around saying.

I thought the troubles would be more of a plot but it's very background.

My favorite part so far was s1 when the Ukrainian girl told them how stupid the fighting was because protestantism and catholicism basically are the same religion.

Ain't that the truth.

I am only watching because I'm running out of shows #quarantined

Not the most groundbreaking plot but I was entertained. It was predictable .

I liked the characters and I laughed a bunch.

I want to say that I really loved the actress who played Rebecca (Paxtons sister). She was so beautiful and I loved the addition.

Random thought: when Devi was getting snacks out of her cabinet I saw a really old school nacho dorito bag. It really distracted me because I wondered where she got it lolol I haven't seen a dorito bag like that since the 90s (I think?)

Warning: Spoilers
I was having a lot of trouble getting Netflix to work yesterday. I clicked on the shows I wanted to watch and they wouldn't load so I clicked on this and it worked so I watched it.

It is embarrassing that people like this probably exist (I don't know if these people are actually like this or just actors). I was embarrassed to be watching this when my bf came home from work so I turned it off. But then I told him how I came to watch it and he watched some with me. All I know is I Left the room for a few minutes and came back to my bf crying because he was laughing so hard. Lolol!

I really wanted Harry to be found out that he did kiss Francesca first and that never came back. Which was disappointing tbh.

Very unlikable characters.

Why is being an idiot rewarded?

The people who should have gotten the money should be the people that actually refrained from sex or kissing!

I just can't even with this show.

They have to be told that you should make deeper connections?

It's pathetic and Kelz and Nicole should have won all the money since they didn't hook up at all.

That being said I hope Sharron and Rhonda made it. She was definitely the hottest girl out there and a mom to boot. You go girl.

Watch only if you want to have a laugh at redonk people. If you want to be like them maybe think about killing yourself.

Ps the narrator is awful

Ridiculous and Also Heartfelt
20 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was in my queue forever. I started it a few months ago and recently finished the last episode ever *😭😭😭😭*

I really loved this show. The characters are outrageous and you just grow to love everyone.

It's So quotable and fun. I wish it Didn't end. I've rewatched it a few times even. I just love it. I love all of the characters: The way Catherine O'Hara plays Moira is superb... She has a crazy accent, interesting word choices, and loves to make it all about her. But deep Down (very deep) she is a softy and has touching moments that make her human. She reminds me of Beetlejuice in how she dresses. It's hysterical

I adore David Rose! My boyfriend always jokes that I am David Rose hahaha

I love that Johnny and Stevie became like father and daughter, as well as business partners

I love that Moira wears wigs every day and names them

I don't think I hate a single character.

I love that Patrick sings to David. I cried 😭😭😭

I will rewatch again at some point.

Ehhhh falls flat for me
20 April 2020
Tina Fey was in the thumb nail on Netflix so I chose to watch this. I loved 30 Rock and enjoyed Kimmy Schmidt and was surprised I never heard of this show.

I was disappointed Tina Fey was not in this that much! And the lead woman is pretty annoying and not a good actress. Carol (her mom) is ridiculous and I like her. I like Chuck as well. Nicole Ritchie isn't that bad even. I just overall didn't like this show very much. The music was definitely the same as 30 Rock (Jeff Richmond).

It's just not that funny and nott that great of characters or acting. It could have been a really great show but falls flat in so many ways. I'm disappointed tbh.

Fun high school drama
29 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Gossip girl meets 13 reasons why minus suicide.

Since I was a little kid I've always loved high school tv shows and even now that I'm older I still love them!

This show was great and has it all: -hot people -teenagers acting like gown adults -sex -cheating -betrayal -murder -mystery -love triangles -high powered parents

You get the drift

It's one of those shows that the end is the beginning and we find out what happens through interviews with flash backs.

I just binged 3 seasons and I hope there's one more!

I love the characters and it's just a really entertaining story and I care about the characters.

Guzman and Polo in the season 3 finale had me in tears

I absolutely adore Valerio (even if he was obsessed with his sister *half sister*)

I am crazy for the many fanny packs Rebecca has worn over the course of the show lol

I felt the show started more about Samuel and he was my least favorite character. He was kind of a creep and a jerk. He did get effed over by Nano (who I love!) and Marina and sort of by Carla so I felt a little bad but he was just annoying to me. Also I felt his falling in love with Carla was kinda of fast and weird.

Also, I'm surprised Rebecca even forgave Samuel after he bugged her mom's house and got her mom arrested. That's pretty messed up.

At first I didn't like Guzman but I've grown to really like him. He comes off like an a-hole but he's a really nice guy underneath. They really layered his character. Like I said earlier, Guzman forgiving Polo in the last ep of s3 was really touching and memorable (much like that crazy cat shirt Guzman was wearing).

I loved Omar's end with Ander, it was sweet and I'm glad Omar stayed.

The crew is smaller for next season as only Guzman, Samuel, Rebecca, Ander, and Omar didn't graduate (am I missing someone?). Cayetana being the janitor was a nice touch. I'm sure Valerio (who also didn't graduate but is now in charge of Carla's wineries) will be around (I hope! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🤞🤞) Lu and Nadia left for NY Carla is studying abroad (but they can always come back for breaks?)

Can't wait to see what other mystery will be for next season (and obviously can't wait for more fanny packs! And Valerio)

Love it!

The Night Shift (2014–2017)

Lots of spoilers. Not good (but I was semi entertained)
19 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I was bored and saw this show was on Netflix with 4 seasons and I was happy I had a new show to watch. It was ridiculous but entertaining. It had a lot of "wtf" moments.

For example: Landry (psychiatrist in the first season) just vanishes by second season and although I didn't pay the closest attention I don't recall anyone mentioned her departure, same with the resident Krista. She just disappeared by season 3 without anything being said. Maybe she went with Chavez to doctors without borders? I don't know.

Also second season has an emt all of a sudden being Jordan's bff and no mention of her before this. And I think she lasted one season and then she was gone. I think they explained that one though. Although I don't remember what.

Also season 3, they fired Topher then killed him OFF SCREEN! What was the point of that? He was a main character. Can't the audience be respected by giving us his death on screen?

Jordan, while pregnant with TC's baby, not only had a stroke but then was in a coma then lost the baby in one episode. Dafuq? And still looked beautiful like nothing happened!

I've always had a crush on Brendan Fehr (who was on Roswell) so I liked his character... But... He adopted a daughter and later joined the Ranger program and I don't recall him even mentioning the daughter when he debated about going and we didn't even see them say goodbye to each other. It was just odd.

Also, Cain (Mark Consuelos) started as a nurse but then let slip he was an actual Dr in Mexico but couldn't go to school in the USA due the language barrier plus other reasons... Then Jordan makes him a Dr the next episode because they're "short staffed".... Dafuq? He's not a licensed Dr in Texas or the USA! Also... I don't remember what even happs to him. He all of a sudden quit and then the cartel was after him or something and then they kidnapped him...? Maybe he died? Maybe we don't know... Like I said I wasn't glued to the screen.

Kenny, the nurse, dates Paul's sister for two seconds and they get married WITH the dads approval?! (who is the head of the hospital btw)

Also, Ragosa... In the first episode I swear him and Jordan were dating. Then as the episodes went on we find out Ragosa is just divorced and Jordan has a long distance relationship with Scott. Then Ragosa quits his admin job and becomes a bumbling fool of an intern. Then his character is written off.

I enjoyed some of the storyline and got somewhat emotional during certain scenes but there was too much ridiculousness to really take it seriously.

They don't go too deep into the characters and if they spent more time fleshing out the character's lives I think it'd have been better.

I enjoyed seeing Jennifer Beals and I wish she had more screen time.

I am also glad they left the door open for TC and Jordan to be together. They seemed endgame but for most of the show they weren't together.

Overall, if you're bored and have nothing better to do and don't want to fully pay attention then this show is for you.

Love Is Blind (2020– )
3/10
Trashy, scripted, garbage yet I watched it all
13 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Netflix recommended this to me by saying top show in America, so I said why not?

😑😑😑

Bad acting, awkward and shallow interactions. No one really seems sincere. Most of the men are fairly tolerable but the women are pretty annoying. We don't even meet all of the contestants, it just focuses on a few couples.

Lauren and Cameron were the only people that seemed like they actually liked each other. They seem like good people and I hope they make it. One thing that stood out with them was that Lauren was very focused on how being different races wasn't important to her but she brought it up almost every episode. Clearly, it bothered her.

Which leads me to bring up Jessica. She did the same thing only talking about age differences in each episode.

Jessica was the absolute worst person in the show. She was manipulative and mean. She used Mark just to stay in the game longer and talk to Barnett. I don't know why Mark didn't see she wasn't into him at all. She literally was convinced every episode to stay with him. Mark deserves better.

Jessica tried to steal Barnett from Amber multiple times it was so pathetic. Plus she had to be super drunk just to get with Mark.

Weirdly, in the reunion Amber looked like Jessica a lot!

Barnett was cute but not all that. Good luck with Amber and her debt. Kinda surprised he went through with it

Giannina was really adorable but clearly bipolar to Damian? Is that her guy? I can't remember which guy is which. He was super awkward. I didn't think he'd go through with it.

Kelly was cute but she just wasn't into her guy. He seemed like a good guy. But it was obvious she wouldn't go through with it.

Carlton and Diamond. He got crazy for no reason. He kept important info from her then told her he was bisexual and then he flipped out on her and then she flipped back. I think Carlton was the one wrong here. Keeping info from her then proposing then saying it was the wrong way to say this. Before she even got a chance to talk with him he got super defensive and made a self fulfilling prophecy by pushing her away and saying very rude and mean things. She said she was getting death threats? That's nuts! Imo he didn't even hive her a chance to process what was said before he went crazy.

This garbage was my life for two days. F this review I can't believe I even wrote one.

/endslife

Edit for the two year anniversary eps: Ps I had to watch the two year anniversary special. I had to say wtf is with Damian bringing fish face Francesca?!

1. Her fake hair was awful and she couldn't stop touching it which was really annoying 2. Was this guy that delusional to think that it was a good idea to bring Francesca without informing Giannina?

Obviously it's fake drama but still wtf?! No man could be that stupid to think his life would work out after that.

I'm not even a really jealous person and if my bf took another girl to a party and didn't give me a heads up first he would be dead. The end.

And obviously Giannina will watch Damian and Francescas conversation during the fake lunch they had.

Giannina is too pretty for Damian, who looks way older than 29 even with botox.

Is Damian on some kind of medication? He has such a flat affect he seems robotic.

Onto Jessica, girl stop acting like you remotely liked Mark. You didn't!

You have a supposed bf that you left back home and you're still looking like you're into Barnett. Just stop 🛑

I didn't even know who LC was but if what she says was true, Mark is a dog and he made a wise decision to not show his face.

Amber was being a real b**** about that whole interaction with LC and diamond.

I just mainly edited my review to talk smack about Francesca really but that went sideways lol 😂

(still love you Lauren and cam!)

Jojo Rabbit (2019)
9/10
Surprised At how much I enjoyed it
23 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
*I don't know why but my review was severely edited by imdb. They removed all my experience with recent antisemitism and how hearing the antisemitism was difficult to hear* It is all necessary to make the story complete. Jojo being indoctrinated at a young age into Hitler youth and not realizing how ridiculous those ideas really are until he learns for himself that, yes, Jewish people ARE PEOPLE TOO! It was heartbreaking and funny all at the same time. Hitler as his imaginary friend was absurd to me at first, but this is through the eyes of a young boy. Things are all fun and games until the horrors of war really hits home. Having Jojo realize hating people for no reason is wrong and that the one person he has left in his life is the one person he was brought up to hate and kill was very beautiful.

It felt influenced by Wes Anderson, who I like a lot.

It left me in tears at the end.
