The Missing (2003)
Hummmmmm, Entertaining...but SPOILER
The Old West...........couldn't be any better. The movie does seem to have considerable PC and Religious tones throughout. That beautiful female hero is one SUPER-WOMAN! The so-called (what, is he part Indian; or what?) father Tommy Lee Jones is a bit confusing. There were some scenes that were inconsistent and far from realistic. If they're going to make a fantasy movie, call it one. The kidnapped daughter wouldn't have been so stupid or have the energy to scream out and screw up the escape attempt and she already probably would have been sexually abused and weak as ever. I don't know. The plot seems quite choppy and hummmmmm, why does that mother look so darn good all the time? Why are the slave buyers so stupid that they trust the mean Indian and get killed? Why do the soldiers talk so nicely to the SINGLE MOTHER in 1880? Why do they speak such good English? WHY, WHY, WHY...........I could keep asking that. The movie was entertaining though, in spite of being unrealistic and a bit racist.
On Any Sunday (1971)
Times do & don't change.
I saw this movie at 10 years old at a drive-in and I loved it. Bicycles, and especially motorcycles give you that RUSH and that free feeling; the wind on your face, surroundings flying past you. It's an activity that's almost always fun. "On Any Sunday" shows better than any other documentary what this past-time, and sport, is really like. It was almost 33 years since I last saw this movie and when my brother rented it, I remembered most of the words in that song that plays throughout the movie. I've had my misfortunes on bicycles/motorcycles, but I still ride occasionally, though quite less tempting of fate than I used to. This movie gives a lot of valuable information on the goods and possible bads of cycling. I like what that other comment writer, Adam, said about this movie, it was a time when most of us could do dangerous stuff on our bikes, but not the EXTREME stuff of now. People may have better equipment on their cycles nowadays, but I'd say the amount of fun is identical.
