Jerk (2019)
What a jerk!
I love this show! Only found out season 2 is now available to stream. As someone who dated a person with cerebral palsey, I can say that people see the condition, not the person. Tim isn't nice because he has a disability, he's also not nasty because of it, he's a normal average, everyday person who, just happens to be a jerk. It's making fun of people's perception of disabilities, not the person with the disability. The first part with the toilet is the funniest thing I've seen. Watch it before making any judgments.
Breach (2020)
Anti-life aka don't order the space special
Called "Anti-Life" on Netflix in the uk. Yeah it's low budget, but sometimes low budget sci-fi films work better than Hollywood budget sci-fi films, but as soon as I saw the "alien" I guessed what was coming. 27 minutes in and I'm thinking this might help me fall to sleep better than a hot chocolate.
Day of the Dead: Bloodline (2017)
Day of the don't!
I only gave it 1 star because I can't give it zero or negative stars.
Spoiler alert.
I'm used to zombie films being low budget, those tend to be the better ones anyway. I can overlook some of the ropey acting, but at 37 minutes in, that's it for me, and I never normally give up on films (the only other films I stopped watching part way through are "Left Behind" and Ghost Rider 2, both Nicholas Cage films). Intelligent zombies? Sorry, been done in "Land of the dead" much better, when they weren't Olympic altgletes as soon as their hearts stopped beating. Nothing to do with the George A Romero "Of the dead" films, just piggy backs onto the name as far as I can see. Avoid.
How It Ends (2018)
How did it end?
Run of the mill low budget end of the world film, which works for some, especially zombie films. Watching the end of this was like the first time I saw "empire strikes back" when it just finishes, and I was all "what????"
The Assignment (2016)
Utter trash
When I first heard about this film I was like "ugh! Another non-trans actor playing a trans(ish) role", and was annoyed.
The lead actor Michelle Rodriguez is pretty much only known for the Fast and Furious films, so this would be the first film with her as essentially the lead.
I'm trying to play devils advocate here and give it a fair go, but its just a terrible film. Frank never looks convincing as a man, that beard! Omg! I've seen kids with better pretend pirate beards! The story makes no sense, no even Sigourney Weaver can save this steaming pile from going straight to the 50p DVD bin.
Is it transphobic? I don't know. It's not someone wanting to make a change to their body but someone having that change forced upon them.
Is it a good film? Absolutely not. Don't waste your hard earned on this, if you really want to see it then wait for it to appear at 3am on some b-movie channel or with a Netflix / Amazon Prime subscription or other "free" method, but you won't get that time back.
Timeless (2016)
From zero to hero
I'm a big fan of scifi, and time-travel is right up in there with that, so when the series first started I was really looking forward to it, and then, ugh, meh. Each week I was watching thinking "it's going to get cancelled, they're going to cancel the show unless something changes to make it not stop me from falling asleep watching each week", and then, as if they'd heard my thoughts, series 2 rolled around (albeit with a shortened 10 episode run), and I was punching the air waiting for the next week's episode.
I'm not going to put any spoilers out there, but I'm hoping they've done enough to warrant a third season and maybe more.
