Curb Your Enthusiasm: Elizabeth, Margaret and Larry (2020)
Best episode ever
You have to watch it all to know the show, know the cast and of course know Larry. John Hamm nails this by pretending to be LD in an episode that is up there with 'soup nazi'. The story line is the usual bizarre thoughts behind a man where things that can go wrong do. From creating a pee app to sleeping with his ex wife's sister to having a bleeding rectum the whole 40 mins are laugh out loud.
Where these ideas come from only add to the mystery and impressiveness of the writing and acting. This is a show that shouldn't end. It's translates globally and enjoyed by all who watch.
Pretty, pretty good.
The Adam Project (2022)
Meh....
Watchable.
That all I can say. Don't make a plan around this movie though.
Ryan Reynolds plays himself as an adult and a kid. He's great, the kid is great, but the story misses a lot.
Cheers.
Infinite (2021)
Poor
Idea - great
Acting - couple of good performances
Movie itself - garbage
Not sure how this went so drastically wrong but give this a miss.
13 Reasons Why (2017)
Wrong cast - ruined story
Season one is superb and a must watch for parents.
Season two is an unneeded extension.
Season three is why 'Hollywood' should stop ruining books.
Season four is so bad I actually wished that the characters were shot.
Overdrawn and as so often before, a needed story is ruined. Poor cast choices make it even worse as you grow to hate ALL of them.
Ozark (2017)
Modern Macbeth.
If Shakespeare himself could watch this he'd question the similarities on how Macbeth and ozark go down the same path.
This is a show about the strength of the female leads.
It is epic. A must watch. Great cast, great idea, great show.
Banshee (2013)
Hidden gem
Excellent!
Great cast, great story, great ..... just great.
I know one other person in the planet that has seen this and that is a tragedy. It is brilliant.
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985)
Adult 'Hook'
Was unsure about this one.
Starts of great then seems to be an adult version of the Robin Williams classic 'Hook'. Yes MM3 was first but the Peter Pan genre was far earlier.
Overall it's a must see. Not as good as 2 but better than the 1st. Can see Hollywood May of had its finger in this pie as it's a big less Aussie.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
You have to watch it - especially if you like the original
It's a visual masterpiece. Plain and simple it captures the effects that the original made us all think about. Good story, well acted, solid directing.
Yes it is long, too long if I'm honest, some will get bored especially if yo I didn't like the original.
Leto and Batista give incredible performances that add to the feel or the movie which leads me to my only two criticisms...... the length and Batista was not utilized enough. He is a talent.
The Matrix (1999)
Breathtaking
First time you watch this you will literally lose your breath.
Flawless.
Masterpiece.
Space Force (2020)
Just not good
Yeah.....not sure of the humor here or the intended humor that was meant to be.
As a big fan of Steve cartel it is a disappointment. John Malcovic is excellent and the cast at the round table are great but they are not utilized enough to make this anything more than a mediocre 5. Then again I doubt they would of made any changes to the number of laughs.
Friday Night Dinner (2011)
Can't put my finger on it.
The characters are annoying.
The program is frustratingly cringey.
You get angry watching it as it's predictable and repetitive.
Yet it works....somehow.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Wowsers
If I'm being totally honest, I didn't like the other movies. Captain America was irritating, the hulk movies were shocking, ant man was a comedy in fact other RDJ as iron man I was never impressed.
However, I binge watched the avengers movies, with one eye on the tv and one eye on my phone, last week knowing I was going to see end game in the cinema ..... and what a decision that was.
My biggest mistake for movies was never watching 'the matrix' when it came out. I am glad to say that this did not happen for 'End Game'. Superb, marvelous, incredible, outstanding are only a few superlatives I can give. Quite possibly the greatest ever 'wrap up' movie I've ever seen.
Fan or not, this is brilliant! 10/10.
Ray Donovan (2013)
Incredible
I'm not going to waxkyrical here and will only state the facts:
Ray Donovan is amazing
Watch and enjoy
Brockmire (2017)
Excellent -
As a massive fan of Hank Azaria I was always going to be slightly bias towards this show but it's creativity, uniqueness and level of dialogue was second to none.
Perfect binge watching I saw right through in one day. Azaria hold the cast together and with supporting roles from Peet and Jackson Williams that fit perfectly with the level of comedy.
Character creating is essential and Azaria seems to have perfected this for USA in the way Steve Coogan did for the UK with Alan Partridge.
Not for young kids.....this is one for adults to enjoy.
Ghost in the Shell (2017)
Disappointing - Sadly
With such high hopes that Hollywood would get this right I was left bitterly disappointed with the effort created here.
If you aren't a fan of the original this may be bearable but for those who know the anime, this will fall way short of expectations.
Direction - Very poor. Unsure if this was art, action, syfy, thriller. The jumps between action scenes to badly crafted "pigeon flights" made it very difficult to watch and a clearer direction would have helped.
Casting - Really poor. Channel 4's "Humans" offered a more watchable performance. Very difficult to like anyone in this other than the Japanese cast.
Action - This was a poor mans Matrix.
Visual - While stunning it was over played and complicated. Compared to Colin Farrell's "Total Recall" it was a very weak showing. Keep it Simple!
Music - Outstanding, I will be downloading the Soundtrack ASAP. However, in line with the Direction all the music was played at the wrong time and wrong scenes.
Ground Breaking - I was hoping to put this in the genre of Blade Runner. Sadly I don't think this will go down in history for anything other than a hashed out movie.
My girlfriend, who is Japanese, liked it though. read into that what you will.
Sorry Scarlett - You were right for the part but this was bad.
