Hamilton (2020)
I finally get it!
When the hype around this stage production reached the mainstream, all I kept thinking was That 'there is no waaaaay that this is all it's amped up to be'. Honestly I just watched it for the sole reason of proving that theory. It's not so foreign to me that Americans usually magnify things that are made about their history to huge proportions for no apparent reasons. All that said though, I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS WAS! The story itself is very interesting, and I'm saying this as a person who has almost no knowledge about that period of American history. I believe a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes is long for anything, but certainly not this. Entertaining, witty, weirdly romantic, sad, not shy, impressive and most importantly refreshing! I highly recommend it for the sole reason that it's conveyed how much hard work and dedication went into it. It IS worth the hype, if not more.
Any Human Heart (2010)
Love, love, LOVE IT!
I don't think I can say anything that hasn't been said already about this series! It is surreal to watch (somewhat of) a whole life unfold in such a poetic heartbreaking way, that reflects with such humanity what any person can face at sometime or another. The true gems of the series are no doubt the little nuances to each creative choice every single one of the actors took, especially Kim Cattrall.
I am a HUGE Matthew Macfadyen fan and this series showcases why greatly. He just has this undescribable ability to make the viewer understand completely the motives and drives of any character he plays (I don't know if the man can do wrong!).
I enjoyed it immensely and cried my eyes out by the end.
Mansfield Park (1999)
Obnoxious!
If you invested your time in reading the book, I strongly advise you not to watch this movie. Although Mansfield Park may not be my favorite of Austen's books, this adaptation is by far the worst insult a screenwriter/director could possibly do with such treasured source material, and for that alone I appreciate the book even more.
Now, if you have NOT read the book and somehow decided to watch this, you may find this movie somewhat tolerable (very flawed but tolerable). But again, if it was a conscious choice I don't recommend it at all. JUST DON'T!
I'd give it a zero, but maybe the acting deserves my 1/10 (sometimes).
