Archer: Archer: 1999 -- Bort the Garj (2019)
Ok I guess
Nothing special. I honestly don't expect much seeing as the last two seasons didn't particularly do it for me. The episode itself wasn't especially funny and seemed very short. I know they've cut back on episode lengths but this time I really felt how little happened in the episode.
Jigsaw (2017)
Holy smokes is this movie horrible
Even given how the Saw series isn't meant to be some highly intellectual or complicated or deep piece of work, this movie still somehow manages to do a disservice to it.
In typical horror movie fashion, the characters in the movie make all the stupidest choices. In a universe where the Jigsaw killer exists, and the characters are shown to be fully aware of who he is, why would they make decisions in the game that would very clearly lead to someone dying?
The "puzzles": the magic to the puzzles that were constructed in previous movies was that they did not require an observer to trigger them. A pint of blood filling a jar to its limit, a severed limb to account for the needed weight to release the players, that kind of thing. The first two puzzles in this movie already defy that and completely ruin immersion.
Jigsaw: in what very well may be the worst besmirching of a character that I can recall, the Jigsaw killer is completely stripped of his character. We are expected to believe that John Kramer, whose focal point regarding his puzzles was that people intentionally did something bad and had to atone for it, put the orderly who misplaced his (Jigsaw's) name tag when tagging the x-ray that showed his tumor into one of his puzzles. They then try to casually explain that "but John had a change of heart and couldn't sentence a man for what was an honest mistake". Bullshit, that's a cop out and the director should be ashamed.
1/10, a piece of shit movie, don't waste your time. You won't even get to see any gore, as if they deliberately made this pile of garbage PG.
How I Met Your Mother: The Final Page: Part Two (2012)
A really really really stupid episode, proving that even thought the show is enjoyable, it's ridiculous
So, discarding for a second the fact that none of the relationships in the show make sense (even the non-romantic ones), there is still no reason for the episode to end as it did.
The whole premise revolves around Barney misleading Robin into thinking he's in it for the long run with Patrice, thus making her jealous and wanting him more etc. Robin falls for it (because the plot calls for it) and they inevitably both end up on top of that building where she finds the last page of the Playbook where Barney's entire plan/play is described.
Upon finishing reading she lifts her head and sees him standing opposite of her. She then goes on a rant about how this was not OK and even someone like him was supposed to know how manipulative and deceitful this play was, too much for her to now be able to ever trust him. Then he bends the knee and she says yes.
...What? Did you not just go on a tangent about how you would never be able to trust him? How do you see this working? How did you claiming to not be able to trust a person lead you to agreeing to marry him? There is no cause and effect connection between the too, it's retarded. There is no way realistically for them to end up together, but apparently the writers had a real hard on for them being a couple so they just wrote it in anyway.
The show is rife with social premises that have no basis in reality, like how Robin spends an insane amount of time with a group that includes not one but TWO OF HER EXES. Don was really on point when he made that observation, surprised he didn't haul ass sooner. And when characters actually try to make it out to be insane when Victoria leaves Ted for refusing to end his friendship with Robin, you know, his ex with whom he keeps daily contact and relapsed with and has the "if we're still single by the time we're 40" deal.
I like the show, I really do, part of the reason I watch it is because it's just a group of friends in scenarios that wouldn't happen in real life. But instances like this really remind how this show just doesn't care about integrity or consistency.
The Hangover Part III (2013)
Pretty Good
I honestly think people overreact when giving this movie less than a 7. It's just a comedy, yet somehow I get the feeling that people expected this to be some enlightening, influential, intellectual and gem of a movie. I went to see this movie with 2 friends yesterday (we are all about 17), and we had a lot of fun watching the movie, we laughed ourselves silly. We came into the movie theater expecting just a simple comedy movie, that would make us laugh, not think, yet I what see here in the IMDb community is a whole bunch of people not looking to enjoy a movie, but to analyze it. As if unless the movie has some message to give or is a revolutionary comedy piece, it is not worth seeing. As if unless you can really analyze the movie and come out thinking "this movie made me a better person", it is not worth seeing. What I'm saying is, this is a very "easy" movie, very likable, no message whatsoever, simple entertainment. Unless you are a stuck up self-proclaimed critic, you will enjoy this movie, especially if you watch it with friends.
P.S. get those sticks out of your asses and learn to enjoy movies, not analyze them
