A bit of a Seven vibe, with some found footage
22 April 2023
I wouldn't class this as a horror bit a good watch. My only issue is a discussion with a doctor where the police are horrified by animal organ transplants. This is pretty common and it's made to be "experimental", I felt this lack of insight really lowered it's credibility. The audio is annoying as it jumps up and down, but the story has potential and has a dark and morose atmosphere. It's broody, like Seven but brings in some found footage elements. Plus some real time parts so there's a lot going on to keep you interested. Don't go in expecting to be blown away but definitely a decent watch. It's a puzzle type thriller, you're working it all out with the lead detectives and it's okay.

Hardcore horror fan recommended this
1 April 2023
I don't even know where to start. If you like fly on the wall movies, watch this. If you're bored of the current horror narratives, watch this. It's impossible to review this movie without spoilers but what I loved, and it's hard to love any themes in this, is the continual shots. It's so new, and so clever and innovative. I won't give anything away but the twist happens early, and then it get worse, so much worse. Don't expect to like any main character, and it's a good thing. But the cinematography is incredible. It's been a long time since a movie has broken the walls of a genre and this movie is it. From women representing a narrative we wouldn't expect, to the smooth transition of real time. I can't get enough, but I can because the themes are horrifying. Thank you and please watch. You won't be disappointed, but you will hate all leading characters. If you don't, please take a look at yourself. That it all. Much love. Xxx.

The Irish have a great sense of humour
26 March 2023
I really enjoyed this movie. It's like Alone in the Dark but with some Irish humour. A great cast and very gritty beginning. There is a lot going on and it's enough to keep you watching. And then the twists start and you can't help but see it through. It's got a strong story and backed up with a bunch of good actors who are able to see it through. There's gore for the horror fans, an easy plot for the newbies, comedy lines for those needing an easy watch plus it has goblins, who don't feature much but it stands up well. I was really impressed and it definitely has a lot going on. Very much recommend.

Nothing happens
19 February 2023
I couldn't even get to the end. I got three quarters through and NOTHING was happening. It's not to incite terror and dread in a haunted house movie but these guys did their best to do none of this. I paid to rent it and for the first time, couldn't be arsed to waste my life seeing it through. Don't bother. No dread, no excitement, too much character development for no reason. The two leads are siblings and far too much dwells on that. There's not even any hints at a haunting or alterior motive. I have no idea of the ending but I'm convinced it won't be good. Avoid and don't waste you're time.

A good combination of FX, comedy and horror
30 August 2022
I really enjoyed this. Anything set in Eastern Europe is creepy anyway as small villages are very small and isolated and it sets up for a horror. There is a good amount of comedy script with intense scenes. I really liked it. It paced well and I was never bored or felt anything was dragged out. Which is good for an American footage film. I highly recommend it. It certainly isn't a surprise ending but it doesn't ruin anything. It's really enjoyable and a good movie for any horror fan, new or old. The acting was great for the most part and there isn't massive amounts of gore to the end. I like the addition of the frogs, which I believe is heavily linked to the themes and no character outshine another. Plus that dude really does play violin, massively impressive. I have to use 600 characters and I feel I have already used that but apparently I haven't so I will try to use more.

Don't believe the poor reviews if you love 80s horror
16 January 2022
This is a rehash of the 80s movie of the same name, except it's mocking the campness of 80s horror and the gender stereotypes. It is comedy central. Superbly written and a strong storyline. It takes the critical elements from the original and ties it in to a modern story very well. Sticking with the formailty of all Slumber Party movies being written by women but twisting all sexual gratification. It is very funny, the acting is absolutely fine and I for one, think it's a stand up movie. Highly recommended.

If you like the originals, you know what to expect
12 January 2022
It's a Critters movies, I like the originals, I like the nod to the original cast and it's campy and silly. Don't read too much into it, and don't expect anything ground breaking. It's fun, as the previous Critters movies were.

Independent horror and worth a watch
28 February 2021
Don't believe all the haters on here. Yeah, the acting isn't amazing but let's face it, nor is a fair few actors in Hollywood (Amber Heard, anyone?). This is a bit of fun, on a shoestring budget and a prequel to Bad Ben.

The creepiness and instensity doesn't feel as powerful as the first movie but if you like found footage, paranormal movies, it ticks all the boxes.

Old school thriller
4 April 2013
I felt it was very drawn out. Tiny little pieces were given along the way and it built to a huge, twist finish. The characters were believable and there left enough unclosed at the end to make your own decision, without any confusion - it ended without ending.

It is very riveting despite the drab surroundings, the acting does grip you, the baddies frustrate, the goodies you want to cuddle and there's one mysterious character. The doctor, it's impossible to determine which side he is on.

Very good film by a great man. Not a John Carpenter classic but worth a watch.
