The Trust: A Game of Greed (2024)
Good ideas, but not so great cast
If you like other reality shows such as The Traitors, Survivor, The Mole...etc then you may like this show a bit, but be warned the cast isn't that great. The whole premise of this show is that everyone is a winner, and whomever gets to the end gets to split a $250,000 prize. The catch though is that if you chose to vote someone out that means that everyone's cut of the prize goes up due to there now being less people. Also There are things that happen along the way in which the cast can raise the total amount of money or keep more for themselves.
So you're thinking to yourself that sounds like it could make for a great show, but sadly you would be wrong and it all has to do with the cast. Most of the men in the cast act like they have a moral high ground and want to just go to the end with everyone. While most of the women want to get people out so they get a bigger cut of the money. Also none of them are all that interesting character wise. At no point did I ever find myself rooting for anyone. So if you like reality TV shows and you are really really bored you could check this one out, but don't expect anything great out of it whatsoever.
Saltburn (2023)
A movie that makes you say what am I even watching?
I watched this film with my girlfriend because she had seen it on an ad somewhere, and so we decided to check it out without really knowing anything about it.
Basically the movie revolves around this character Oliver who gets an obsession over his friend Felix. He then lies to Felix about his background, and basically everything about his life so that he can garner sympathy and make Felix feel bad for him. Felix offers Oliver an invitation to live in his family's mansion, and everything is great for awhile. Oliver's obsession then builds and he does things that are pretty vile and also mostly added to the film for shock value.
Eventually Felix finds out about Oliver's lies, and when he no longer wants anything to do with him Oliver then decides to kill Felix and then rest of his family, but does it in a way in which the family doesn't suspect him or any foul play. Felix's mother is the last alive and wills the mansion over to Oliver when she is basically on her death bed. Then Felix lives in the mansion alone.
That is the basic summary of the film, and some parts actually made us nauseous like the bathroom scene where Oliver licks the bottom of the tub including the drain after Felix had bathed in it and jerked off... yea that happens.
The Wilds (2020)
Another good cancelled Tv show
The wilds was very good for season one, and still pretty decent for season two. Sadly Amazon cancelled it shortly after season two was released. Season two ended up finishing on a cliffhanger that was going to be resolved once season three came out, but sadly that will never happen. It's sad because the show was really building up to something great, and I believe that season three could have wrapped up the story of this show.
Fans obviously were outraged by the cancellation, and made a petition online to bring the show back as well as paying for billboards to be put up with the slogan #savethewilds. At one point Hulu was interested in possibly purchasing the IP, but ultimately Amazon never did anything with it and never sold it off. So we are stuck in limbo just waiting for one day when a season three will finally be made. Sadly though I think it's never going to happen. I would say the show though is worth watching, but just know that you will never get a conclusion.
River Wild (2023)
Better off watching the 1994 "The River Wild"
The characters in this film make some of the dumbest decisions, and the main motivation for the "villain" really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Also for a film about rafting it doesn't have very many intense rafting scenes like the 94' film has. The storyline doesn't make a whole lot of sense and isn't written well at all. Plus the movie just ends abruptly.
The River Wild from 1994 is a much better film, and I just recommend watching that instead if you have never seen it. The new film is supposed to be inspired from it and not actually a remake, but it does take certain plot points from it. The original plot though is so much better in every way.
Jericho (2006)
One of the best cancelled tv shows of all time
Jericho is one of the best cancelled tv shows of all time and I highly recommend watching it. The show was originally cancelled after season one, but only brought back for a season two because of the big push from fans. There is also a comic book series that continues the show after season two.
If you like post apocalyptic shows about the end of the world this show is right up your alley. It's a must watch and I'm currently doing my 3rd watch through since the show aired in 2006. This show is a absolute cult classic, and wish it had more seasons as it deserves it. This show is so underrated and I don't hear people talking about it as much as they should.
Outlast (2023)
One team is absolutely horrible
Outlast really shows how greedy people can be, and how far they will go to win money. Literally stealing sleeping bags and survival gear to try and force someone to leave is horrible. The whole Alpha team should be ashamed of themselves. Especially Jill and Amber.
The show started off as a survival show for the first couple of episodes, but soon turned into vile thievery and bullying. It's probably the closest reality show I've seen that literally becomes lord of the flies. The Alpha tribe decided since there were hardly any rules in the show that they would do despicable acts to try and force the other players to shoot their flares off and leave the game. This whole scenario could have been stopped if production wanted it to, but no they let it carry on so they are just as much to blame.
Honestly if you are looking for a survival show to watch look elsewhere because this show is just not it, and I hope it never gets renewed because it was just shockingly horrible.
