Death of a Ghost Hunter (2007)
Scary but worst acting ever
This is a descent scary movie, but the actors are terrible. The creepy church girl shows her breasts in the movie which is a plus and common for horror movies like this one. It will give you goosebumps if you can sit through it with the acting...or lack of it. It has a "Paranormal Activity" vibe, but again where PA was believable due to the acting this one does the opposite. At no point will you forget you're watching a movie. Another funny point is that Carter's computer has electrical tape over the brand. Another one of those amateurish issues with the movie. It would have been better to just leave that part our than draw attention to the fact they didn't permission to use the trademark. Lastly, the audio isn't very good. I had to turn the volume up and down throughout the movie. Some of the actors like the journalist always seemed to be loud and Carter was quiet. The videographer dropped the f- bomb almost every sentence...and it was extremely noticeable unlike Scarface, Goodfellas, etc. which this is obviously not.
Lilyhammer (2012)
Great New Crime Drama...with some comedy
I first heard of Lilyhammer through a Howard Stern interview with Steven Van Zandt. Since I was a huge Sopranos fan I immediately became interested in Lilyhammer. The show itself is great and I'm really impressed with Netflix's first original program. One concern is that they would not have enough funding to continue the project. Lilyhammer will never be confused with Soprano's but it has a lot of similarities to all organized crime dramas. Steven and the other actors do a great job, the only issue I have is sometimes it is difficult understand the native actors. While it does add authenticity to the setting it requires you to give your full attention to the screen. Luckily, the show is great and there is no worry of losing interest.
