The Engineer (2023)

Perhaps not a great film. But I enjoyed it. It seemed oddly realistic. The pacing was not Bourne series or Fauda. But a little more believable because of that. The acting seemed natural as well. Great-looking actresses. A friend who had been in the IDF told me he loves Fauda, just like the Americans. But to say it's realistic is like saying Lethal Weapon is just like being in the LAPD. Even Shin Bet doesn't get to shoot up the Territories, go back to the base, play guitar and have a cook out like Fauda. Well... maybe they do now. But not back then. And when is Robert Davi ever not super-solid as an actor? Glad I gave The Engineer a shot. Recommend.

Loved It.

I'm sorry, I just loved it. The costumes, the locations, the beautiful women and great combat scenes. Some of the acting was great, none of it less than good. Story moved at a nice pace.

Danish Secret Service Show Rules!

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favorite TV shows of all time... American or foreign. Wallander, Foyle's War, Prime Suspect, Annika Bengtzon, Spiral (Engreneges) -these are all great shows. But The Protectors is so real, so human. I just love it. Give it a shot. I only mention "spoiler alert" just to say: the first few episodes are good. But they get GREAT as the series develops. So my advice to anyone kind enough to read my review: watch The Protectors; as the series picks up steam the character development is wonderful, the production value also seems to get better, and the writing goes from better-than-average to simply superb. I can't say enough good things about The Protectors. Lastly please allow me to add: these aren't super-humans with badges, they're real people -or at least as real as a TV show about agents can be. Thank you!

This Film Had HEART
29 April 2006
This was a wonderful film with lots of heart. The other people in the audience that I saw it with clapped at the end just like I did. How many films are there about the world of gymnastics? It was original, and the kids were a lot of fun. The writer-director also wrote BRING IT ON, another wonderful film, tighter script -but not as much heart.

The cast was good; the lead can act and her two guy buddies played it well. Jeff Bridges is always fun. I suppose if I had to make one criticism it would be that the first half moved a little slow and some of the camera work was uneven: focus was soft in places, and sometimes the composition was neither here nor there. But I recommend this film.
