Damien (2016)
The show has a lot of potential
OK the first episode is honestly fairly average, the middle of the episode is what I feel probably causes all the mixed reviews I've been seeing for the show, it tends to drag and is honestly pretty forgettable, even now as I write this review after just watching it, I only really remember the beginning and end because they were interesting and well done (so to me AWESOME)
I haven't seen 'The Omen' and probably won't get round to it any time soon, (I looked it up a bit online, while watching the episode though, more out of curiosity) and I don't think it's really necessary for the first time viewer to watch to get what's happening, the trailers and basic synopsis of the show pretty much tells you what it's all about, Damien is the anti-Christ. As a first time viewer, they got me through it all pretty well and I feel like I get what it's about, it is only the first episode so it can go wherever and I gotta say I'm down for it.
Now technical stuff... I'm not a expert on editing and whatever, but I found the cinematography and editing pretty good, acting was pretty god and the cgi was OK for a TV show, one scene had me like 'well that looked super fake' but otherwise it was pretty good. man this review is getting long, OK last bit I promise...
The first episode is probably around a 6/7 out of 10, but I rated the show a 8 because I believe in the potential it's showing with the pilot, I mean it's a show about the anti-Christ! I'm interested in where it will go and hopefully fun discussions about what is evil will pop up :D So give it a shot, you might like it, you might not, but I don't think it deserves the crappy reviews it's been getting, but whatever personal opinion and what not
That's My Boy (2012)
Good for a laugh
I love most Adam Sandler movies, and i noticed a lot of reviewers say the same thing, Thats my boy, is a really funny movie (at least to me, my friends and all the other younger people in the audience ranging from about 16-30's) It wasn't a movie i went in hoping for some comedy classic, it's a great movie to watch when you just feel like watching a movie that gives some good laughs (depending on your humor) and slight amused disgust..... the concept of the move was very straightforward with the teacher and student having sex and getting caught...etc then trying to reconnect with his son around 20-30 years later to pay off debt, which most of the audience would guess he would find out about and they'd get in a massive fight but i did not expect the major twist near the end of the movie that had the whole cinema i was in going 'gross' 'wtf' 'LOL' and causing a general sense of amusement.
This is one of those movies where its crazy, stupid and funny....i loved it so did all my friends and the rest of the audience in the cinema with us - so really if you like his movies watch it with an open mind and see for yourself, it really all depends what you find funny...the other reviewers just say its bad don't watch it, but really you should give it a go
