Oppenheimer (2023)
Oppenheimer: An Ambitious Yet Disappointing Biopic
*Context:*
"Oppenheimer," directed by Christopher Nolan, promised a riveting biography of Robert Oppenheimer and the creation of the atomic bomb, but unfortunately, it veered off course and left viewers wanting more. The film focused primarily on discussions surrounding Oppenheimer's security clearance and Strauss' confirmation hearing, failing to deliver on its marketed premise.
*Negative aspects:*
The negative aspects of "Oppenheimer" are quite pronounced. Running for nearly three hours, the film was heavily laden with discussions, ego clashes, and court room drama, rather than exploring the intriguing world of atomic bomb creation and the scientific brilliance that shaped history. Although the discussions and courtroom drama were needed but at the cost of A-bomb development process, was something not anticipated at all. The Trinity test bomb scene, while boasting great sound design, suffered from inefficient visuals that did not live up to expectations (as promised before release).
Complexities & non linear narrative again:
Adding to the film's complexity, a non-linear storytelling approach left many viewers perplexed and struggling to grasp the sequence of events and the significance of certain conversations. The omission of pivotal moments, such as Oppenheimer's childhood years and the aftermath of World War II, hindered the film's ability to provide a holistic portrait of the brilliant scientist and visionary.
*Few positive aspects:*
On a positive note, the film's sound design and soundtrack deserve acclaim for its flawless execution. Additionally, the performances of the cast were commendable, with RDJ delivering a noteworthy portrayal.
*Conclusion:*
In conclusion, "Oppenheimer" embarked on a bold journey to depict one of the most significant periods in history, yet it ultimately fell short of achieving its full potential. The film's preoccupation with discussions and courtroom drama overshadowed the opportunity to delve deeper into the fascinating world of atomic science.
*Final words:*
"Oppenheimer" falls short as a biopic, failing to showcase the crucial A-bomb development process and attacks. While the sound design is impressive, the film left me unsatisfied, yearning for a deeper exploration of historical events. A missed opportunity to deliver a compelling narrative on a pivotal figure in history. It was marketed a "biopic thriller" but ended up being "biopic courtroom drama thriller".
The Night Agent (2023)
OKAY-ish
Kinda ok web series, nothing great nothing bad about it. But its long, waayyyyyyyyy too long than it should've been. Each and every character has some back story and a lot of dialogues drama, its too much. 8 hours for the story they wanted to tell is not something I'm going to buy the next time. I think if they had wrapped each episode within 30-45 minutes rather than an hour, would worth it. I expected more action, more thrills and that's where I got disappointed.
Watch it if you have absolutely nothing to do, keep your expectations very very low and you might not get disappointed or else you can give it a pass.
Mrs Undercover (2023)
P A T H E T I C
The lady director wanted to show A) men in bad light and B) her own feminist side. I bet she must've been a victim of patriarchy in her home or something, which encouraged her to make such a bad film. She doesn't know a D of direction. Many scenes seem like cheap web series footage. Not sure how she got the opportunity to direct a movie for ZEE5 and that too with Radhika?!! The director must be sued for showing the intelligence agency members doing cheap things. The head of agency is named as Rangeela! LOL.
The women empowerment message was conveyed in worst way possible. Laughable climax and dialogues. Wish its the last film of that director. Wasted amazing talent such as Radhika Apte.
Gehraiyaan (2022)
Pretty bad (and a plot hole!)
So when Alisha "kills" Zian, they were in middle of the sea. But then she drove off and docked the yacht. The cops thought Zian was drunk and fell off in the sea but nobody thought about the angle that who could possibly have driven off and docked the yacht! Apart from this, the rest of the movie was equally stupid apart from Naseer's character.
Sooryavanshi (2021)
Nihaayati ghatiya (and I have reasons for saying so)
1. You are a most wanted terrorist and you visit a place like Mumbai without disguise and get caught just like that. Logic?
2. You have to add religion drama in a movie where cops are going to be fighting with Muslim terrorists. For?
3. You have to show that the cops are better fighters than NSGs. Seriously?
4. You have to add nonsensical punchlines when terrorists are about to blow the ATS headquarters. Right?
5. You have to spoil an old masterpiece soundtrack. Why?
6. You have to copy the action sequences from Hollywood. Always?
7. Your family will always be on same places where terrorists are going to be around. Yes?
8. The cops fighting with 40+ terrorists won't get a scratch on their bodies. No?
3 Idiots (2009)
Engineering is a weak point of Indians. They think its cool and extremely hard to be an engineer. So make a film on engineers, deliver the same message and earn millions!
If you have watched MBBS, TZP -- skip this. The same motivational message ENGINEERED in modern college students way.
This kind of movies are made to be in comfort zone yet earn millions and deceive Indian audience. Try to be smarter than those and avoid this.
The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)
OK - from start to end I had smile on my face
I don't understand the mixed reception at all. The movie does what it says. Its funny, action sequences are great and its entirely watchable. I'm gonna watch this again next week for sure.
Bharat (2019)
Seriously?
People are getting so dumb?
What's so special if Bhai digs a tunnel and brings back several people?
What's so special if Bhai rescues ship crew from pirates? That too by dancing on Amitabh Bachchan songs? (See Captain Phillips of Tom Hanks. Seriously).
Good thing: Reunite scene. Only one scene in entire movie.
Verdict: Flop. Don't waste money. Watch movie on TV after 2 months.
Zero (2018)
HONEST review by a true SRKian
The movie is bold. It is courageous. It has moments. Great VFX and nice dialogues.
First half is literally what majority of Indian people want in a movie.
Second half is very touchy, emotional, deep, little dragged, little underdeveloped which is again majority of Indian people do Not want in a movie.
Mohammed Ayub, R. Madhavan etc characters are underdeveloped. The space scenes could be a little more explored. Around 20 mins of second half could be well edited.
The biggest strength of the movie is SRK. He is on 🔥 with his performance. His anger, sarcasm, pain, frustration, love, sadness, guilt are very well captured.
Anushka is decent and so is Katrina. Direction is good but could have been better.
This is prime example of a movie which Indian public do Not want to see. They worship logicless action and comedy only. It breaks my heart to say that this might not work in India.
9/10 for SRK's unbelievable commitment and acting, VFX, music, cinematography and concept. Thanks.
Tiger Zinda Hai (2017)
They consider us fools. Period.
I don't really put my reviews but seriously they consider us as fools. These kind of movies are purely made to earn money, and now we should become smarter than them and not watch this. Not against Salman (Sultan, BB were good) but this is really illogical and pathetic.
Furious 6 (2013)
Above average below expectations
First after watching Fast Five I was very excited about the movie but sadly it did not live up to my expectations.
The first half is okay and offers nothing new. Some scenes are incredibly ruined by shaky cameras during the whole movie. The comic scenes and sound design is cool.
The tank scene is beautifully taken and Vin Diesel stunt is awesome and over the top.
The final chase scene is quite long and due to darkness it is completely wasted. No one cares when Gal Gadot dies!
Finally Jason Statham entry to the franchise is awesome move.
Overall the movie is watchable but not remember-able like Fast Five. Go with a very little expectations and you won't be disappointed for sure.
