Terror on the Prairie (2022)
I really wanted this to be good but...
Like you, I wanted this movie to be good, but after just 5 minutes I couldn't lie myself into liking it anymore, and it just got worse from there. Even if I hadn't gone to film school, it clearly doesn't take an expert to notice every plot hole and problem with this movie. No offense, but all the 9 and 10 star reviews are from people who are easily amused, basic Daily Wire fans, or the cinematically illiterate.
The movie is pretty well shot but the story makes no sense. There are no interesting or motivated protagonists, and none of the characters change or learn anything in the end. For being the best actor in the cast, Searcy just plays the stereotypical bad guy who quotes bible verses and over acts a lot.
Now for the really bad parts: In the middle of multiple gun fights, characters wandered out in plain view with no cover and the other person missed every time. What's worse was when someone had a clean shot two feet in front of them and didn't shoot over and over and over again. The husband was supposedly some sharpshooter back in the war but missed every shot he took, except for the man he shot that wasn't even fighting back. The bad guys kept the wife and kids alive to get to the husband who wasn't even around for most of the movie. They kept saying they needed the wife and kids alive but they could have easily just killed them and waited for the husband to come home. When the husband "Jeb" magically found them he did some ninja-jump-take-down-tackle-move off a river bank that was so cringe I yelled at the TV screen. Gina Carrano's character tried to burn her own house down to signal the neighbors and the bad guy put it out with one bucket of water. A neighbor came to see what the fire was about and promptly died. The kid and baby "escape" by walking accross a river that the adults somehow can't cross and find him. Then after the bad guys all die it's just a ten second shot of them building a new house. The list goes on and on. Nothing happens that matters the whole time.
The Daily Wire really missed an opportunity here to do something cool with the small story Western genre. I wanted this to be good, I really did. Alternative media making a feature film on their own platform is such a great idea, and I love the Western Genre, but this was an utter train wreck of a film. I mean it was abysmally bad. My girlfriend and I kept debating whether to stop watching halfway through it or not. Glad I finished the movie just to say that I never need to see this garbage again.
I gave 3 stars because it was shot relatively well with nice set design and cinematography. Also the costumes were cool. However...
This is the worst movie I have seen since the live action Mulan.

Best fact checker on the planet
Tim Pool is one of the last honest journalists left. He is fair and balanced unlike what other new sources will tell you. He draws from all sources to help the audience understand the main points of an issue, he fact checks media organizations, and has on interesting guests. In my opinion it's the best podcast on the internet.
