American Playhouse: All My Sons (1987)
Excellent production
It is difficult to imagine a better job of acting than all of the players in this production. I have seen 5 different versions of ALL MY SONS, and this one, by far, exceeds them all. This play truly provides Miller's philosophy, but also gives the audience both sides of the story. He humanizes Joe Keller.
Torchwood (2006)
Not impressed
I was not impressed with this series and am not surprised it was only four seasons. The characters never seem to learn from their mistakes. Gwen Cooper especially seems oblivious to her own ignorant decisions. As a Dr. Who fan, I was very disappointed with this series. The plots are implausible. While the series tries to address the moral dilemma of choosing the many over the one - a la Star Trek - the writers did not spend the ink to really present the topic. Instead, the show actively attacks faith without any logical, analytical argumentation. Cpt. Jack's character is too borderline. He's cruel, then he's tender, and he presents the stereotype that gay men are indiscriminate in their sexual exploits - implying that it is not relationship but selfish pleasure for gay men. It is a poor attempt to espouse an ideology with no real logic behind it. The series had such potential, but it falls flat.
