Unlike 99% of sequels, this Crushed.

Judge left nothing on the field.

Very smart writing. Never boring.

One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. 10/10 all day.

Painfully boring
17 June 2022
Had to take a brake. It feels like work.

NOT "character driven." Just boring dialogue no one cares about.

Like the relationship between the French guy in the mute supe. WHO CARES!!!

As bad as episode 2 of this season..

STEP IT UP AMAZON!!!

Disappointing writing for such a high quality production
16 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As many other reviewers have pointed out, the blackmailing scene was sophomoric.

Felt like I was watching a C movie from the 90's.

How in the world do you have the budget they have yet not write something more creative, original, etc?

The whole episode was meh.

Best in genre since Bourne 1
5 April 2022
That's right, fans of shakey-cam Bourne 2 and 3,I said it.

Like "Drive," this is more about story than action (even though I really liked the action, which is rare for me these days), and I think that's why it's only a 6 right now.

Also, my hommies that don't like Pine because of his politics, I agree. But I he hasn't let the NPC out lately, so I can give him some slack.

Bottm line, it's original and cleaver, with very small liberties taken in some action scenes.

Definitely a Recommended if you like this genre.

Honest review from an atheist
15 March 2022
The Reason for the Skewed IMDB Rating: First, the rating is skewed because it was produced by Dinesh D'Souza, enemy of the State and those the State has under their spell.

The Christianity Part: I use to be a militant atheist, and would have given this 1 star in the old days just because the protagonist is Christian. Now, I'm a thousand times more accepting, and appreciate the many things we agree on. But it really doesn't matter so much here because there's very little religion anyway.

(You DO NOT have to be Christian to appreciate this film)

My Favorite Thing: The bad guy!!!! He's so freaking good. He's right up there with my favorite bad guys of all time (Die Hard, No Country for Old Men, Drive).

Budget and Acting: I am always concerned about these two things with non-Holywood films, but the production value and acting are excellent. The lead, James Caviezel, is consistently good in everything I've seen him in, and everyone else holds their own. No one took me out of it for a second. Again, the bad guy though.

Only Small Issue: There were a couple minor shortcomings in the action, but like I said, minor. You may not even notice them. I've seen so much action that I've become very difficult to please in that area, and this was still more than good enough.

Overall: Not many movies can keep my attention anymore, and with one exception of checking my phone, I was rapt the entire time (that says a lot).

Very glad I came across this film. Off to find out what else the bad guy is in.

P. S. Even though it says 2019, I'm pretty sure this came out September, 2020.

Wow, can't believe how good this was
19 February 2022
If you think critics are biased now, wait until you see what they gave a "13." 🤣🤣🤣

This crushed my expectations. This wasn't "good for a non-Hollywood movie." This was freakin AWESOME!

I'm still buzzing with how good that movie was. Haven't even been able to finish a movie in a while, but I couldn't stop watching this. You'll see.

WAS GREAT!
13 October 2021
UPDATED AT END

No dull waiting period--this is entertaining IMMEDIATELY.

This show has it all: attractive people, vastly desperate personalities, relatable protagonists, loathsome antagonists (this honor changes, but there's one big one), money, a BIG yacht, fun, interesting, and changing locations, interesting guests, interesting world, TIGHT quarters (GREAT for drama, but not claustrophobic at all because it's so open, vacationy, and they port so much - it's the OPPOSITE of claustrophobic), both a social element and very merit-based workplace element, and just the right amount of booze (not too much though - not like some IQ lowering Jersey Shore garbage).

Reminds me a lot of "Work Out," the gym-based reality show on Bravo a while ago, which I liked, but it can't compare to this, which is like that on steroids (no boring single location, much more intense drama with the demanding charters, luxury, etc).

Also, for the most part, you have something unusual for a reality show: intelligence. I think this will attract a smarter audience than other reality shows because MOST of the people (not all) are noticeably intelligent, as their job demands it ("5 star staff," including a chef, veteran Captain, experienced managers, a marine biologist, a fashion line entrepreneur, and a fireman).

I've seen 6 episodes now, but I was addicted from the beginning.

I think the two most important components of any reality show are the "characters" and the editing. The characters are there in spades, but the editing brings us the stories, and man do they make the stories POP! Hats off to the editing staff. I think we all like to see justice because we so rarely get it in real life, and the editors don't let anyone get away with ANYTHING. When someone does something stupid, we get to see the consequences, which is a great little respite from real life, where stupid people seem to get away with a lot.

I think there's something for everyone. I'm a straight dude, so seeing Hannah and Jules put on their shirts in the morning is a nice little bonus ;-).

Glad I found this show, but it sucks to be "jonesing" again for another damn episode!

S5 UPDATE: Loved Captain Sandy until she reinforced the female stereotype by taking Malia's side when Malia was called "Sweetheart," so Capt Sandy reprimanded ALL the deck guys, 2 of which had nothing to do with it. This wasn't a Capt complaint anyway. Malia wants to be a leader, but she can't even tell her own underling to stop calling her Sweatheart? Sandy seems like she did a 180,and started taking her insecurities out on everyone. Can't watch it anymore.

Woke propaganda
23 December 2020
The show stayed a-political until now. Very unfortunate.

They'd paid homage to the group responsible for over 30 deaths and $2,000,000,000 in property damage.

For those of us not brainwashed, this is insufferable to watch.

Denzel's son is NOT Denzel
19 December 2020
(Enough people are reviewing the extremely convoluted MacGuffin chasing plot. I'll focus on the lead).

Bale, DiCaprio, Pearce, Hardy, Jackman, McConaughey... Then this guy???

Zero "presence."

Acting must be a gift because Denzel is super intense and exciting to watch. His son, not at all.

I actually didn't know it was his son until after watching it. I kept thinking, "Nolan could get ANYONE. Why in the world did he cast this guy?"

The original miniseries was so freakin good!

I was excited for this new one, but I ended up not caring (no interesting characters, and skips all over the place).

Can't believe what he does with this movie.

Almost stopped watching this movie in the beginning.

Glad I kept going because I got to see the master at work.

Haven't lol'd this much at a movie since Bruce Almighty was in theaters.

Is the "7.1" rating real?
14 September 2020
9 of 10 written reviews are below 5, yet this has a "7.1"???

And I watched the movie... can't comprehend how this is in the 7's.

Something's fishy.

WARNING: Seriously overrated because Stephen King
11 September 2020
This movie was so horrifically bad, I kept wondering how it had a "7.1" rating. Then I saw that it was based on a King novel.

The novel was probably great. This was painful. The writing, acting, directing, CG, all amazingly bad.

Unsympathetic characters being dumb

Good: Acting

Bad: Drama is forced. There isn't enough organic justification for the characters to make such horrible decisions.

Sucks the life out of you for 80 minutes.
27 August 2020
The first 17 minutes are interesting. Then it just keeps digging a hole deeper and deeper that is never even close to made worth while.

Attempts to provide some interesting reason for our investment, but the weak imagination isn't even close to capable of making something significant enough to justify our significant investment (it's their job to make it not feel like an investment, and this felt like only investment).

I am remembering the director's and writers' names, Lorcan Finnegan and Garrett Shanley, to avoid anyting touching them in the future.

I will also be proportionately less interested in anything Jesse Eisenberg or Imogen Poots choose to be a part of in the future.

Last time I'm taking a risk on anything under a 6.2 rating.

I don't care about the pig - it's the BS response we're supposed to buy.

NO GOVERNMENT WOULD TAKE THAT SERIOUSLY. They'd say, "Obviously, we don't negotiate with terrorists. Next."

To expect us to buy otherwise is an insult to the viewers intelligence.

Setting women back 60 years
24 July 2020
Malia and Sandy couldn't have embodied all the negative stereotypes more accurately with their childish handling of the "sweetheart" ordeal.

Why on earth did she run to the captain. If you want to be a boss, BE A BOSS. Simply tell Pete it's unacceptable. Done. You don't bring that garbage to the Captain.

Then, Sandy, having no idea what was going on, takes all three male deck hands off their work to reprimand all of them. And the two that were being excellent professionals were like, WTF?

UPDATE: Malia does it again. (face-palm emoji)

First, I had no idea how good Samberg was. The guy is an incredible actor.

Hollywood, take note: 99% of the woke trash you've been putting out would be "Straight to DVD" without streaming. This, on the other hand, was original, clever, funny, tight, and just plain entertaining af. 100% MEMORABLE QUALITY.

Such a shame I couldn't see this in the theaters. This is old-school, bad ass, intense, WWII cinema at its best.
