17 Again (2009)

Why the bad reviews?
22 September 2012
Why does this movie have only a six? Is it because of Efron?

I thought this movie was just smart and not lacking in any way. The script was hilarious and had a full good plot line, the casting was great (Zac Efron really made you believe he was married with children... looking 17!) and even the smaller roles were really great additions.

I've seen this movie thrice and trust me, it's not just for Efron (which I assume is why people are hating on it - stop the bias!), it's genuinely well written, directed, acted... etc.

Brilliant! Will see again... 17 Again.

Concept is brilliant... but lazy plot construction.
21 September 2012
Personally, I think the concept is simply brilliant, yet completely left out to dry... Why? Well, I understand that at some points of writing the plot, there are some huge holes that are left to be filled with brainstorm ideas that come after everything. I believe these parts could have been thought through a lot better.

First of all, the 'world' they live in switches thrice, the asylum, then the dancing world, then the war world. When the dancing started as the war 'transition' did, I felt banging my head so hard against a table. Maybe they thought it was cool or whatever, but I think it's such a boring way to shortcut through a supposed 'intense' scene of when their going through the most intense moments. And the hypnotizing dance? God! Talk about the biggest upperhand in the world!

This movie could have been my favorite ever (based on the concept) but the plot tanked, yet I still enjoyed it. Reasons? The music was brilliant! CONCEPT. The graphics were spectacular! The starting -EPIC- and the ending -loved it!

So do I hate it? Can't. Do I love it? Can't. It's not bad. It's not incredible. It actually annoys me that it had the potential to be fantastic-al. That rhymed! REWRITE! Or book version. Either would be awesome.

Fish Hooks (2010–2014)

What brought me back to Disney.

It has everything that makes people love Spongebob Squarepants from Nickelodeon and Chowder from Cartoon Network. It has kid's favorite element of completely randomness, and for the elder teens, it has subtle ever-present humor. The characters are all unique to themselves and to the show.

The first time I heard of it I was like 'What? It must suck.' Man, I was wrong. The first episode I watched got me 'Fish Hook- ed'. Surprisingly good! I understand why some people don't get the humor though.

It's an acquired humor.

Interesting... but anticlimactic.
30 May 2012
The casting choices were very good in my opinion; very individual characters who you really feel as if you get to know. Freddie Highmore came in too late unfortunately. The sudden switch lost my sense of attachment to Nigel, and it was too near to the end to have it rebuild. I loved Oscar Kennedy. I thought he was amazing.

The ending was such a letdown, I was still waiting for the 'real ending' when it happened. Nigel's sexuality wasn't really emphasized, nor was it not mentioned. It was just 'there'. It wasn't played into the plot line or Nigel's character development. Probably the most anticlimactic bit after the ending.

Good. But could have been a lot better.
