Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Hopefully Hollywood Learns From This Movie
This movie and Top Gun are both summer blockbuster sequels that came out this year. One was amazing. This one was not. Unlike Top Gun this movie has a serious agenda. It packaged a bunch of stupid woke ideas with dinosaurs. Just like the Batman the dialogue in this movie is fake and forced. Every line is rushed. This movie had one good scene. Where the Raptors are killing people. The story was beyond stupid. Praise whistle blowers. Im losing faith in people. People think humanity is a virus or something. So ridiculous.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Best Show On TV
What's not to like about this show? Roman mythology, intrigue, mystery. Phenomenal acting and dialogue. I've always liked Travis Fimmel since Vikings but he's seriously one of the best actors of today. The Mythraics, dark photons, Kepler 22B. My friends and I have been saying lines from this show for a month.
Best show on tv right now. I'd be devastated if it got cancelled. 100/100. I don't want to give too much away. SoL's light burns inside me. I wear the armor of Mithras in the light. I am shielded by all that is harmful. Mother and Father are great too. I have a million theories. The kid who plays Paul can really act. Kampian sucks though but hey he ain't from around here. I want to know more about Kampian Sturges. I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!
Killers of the Cosmos (2021)
I Don't Hate The Idea
What I do hate is the pathetic attempt. Cheap, completely phoned in. I've made power points better than this. Little Finger completely phoned it in. It's insulting how bad this was. I only gave it a 4 because I love shows about space and the Universe and want these types of shows to keep getting made.
How the Universe Works, Cosmos, Secrets of the Universe, NOVA, even Ancient Aliens puts this show to shame. I don't blame the cosmologists & Astronomers. The abysmal graphics, tone, and heart of the project was apparent.
South Park: Post Covid - The Return of Covid (2021)
Brilliant
Made me cry from laughter then just cry. Cartman stole the show in this one. His family hiding in the attic was so freakin funny. Also how Uncle Kyle made his kids nutty. Love the Weiner's out references calling him Uncle Kyle. Butter's as the NFT salesman was so damn funny.
I had a cousins' boyfriend tell me this special sucked on Christmas, before I had seen it. But he didn't even know South Park had started to do running seasons! After I watched this I remembered he was a crypto obsessed Liberal with no sense of humor, so it made sense.
Randy was awesome, loved Token, Butters, Jimmy, Clyde as the Terminator had me dying. All of the references toward the future. And the whole forgiveness thing at the end had me literally crying. I really felt bad for Cartman too. Help each other and forgive one another. That's always been the South Park way!
The King's Man (2021)
Disappointed
This is my first review in a while because I got sick and tired of my reviews being removed. It's sad that Hollywood has such fragile egos and thin skin that platforms have to take down bad reviews to insulate them. The Kingsman is yet another movie that chose to take shots at men, specifically Caucasian men. Normally I say ehh whatever, but when the movie is a let down and stinks they're glaring.
Anyone could see the twist in this movie from a mile away. They took away all the great spy gadgets and over the top violence that made the first movie great. The whole father son drama was so drawn out. I kept waiting for things to happen. We got literally no back story on any characters. The way the son died was so stupid. He was so whiny too. Ralph Fienes was good but his character wasn't special.
The Rasbutin fight scene and silent knife fight scene were decent. Why was everyone following the "Scottish" guy and calling him my Shepard? What was his deal? How did he travel between places so easily and quickly without notice?
All in all boring movie with none of the things that made the first one great.
Foundation: Barbarians at the Gate (2021)
Salvor Hardin is Ruining it For Me
The time period is jumping too quickly without much explanation which is strange because it's very slow. The Lee Pace characters are cool but it's difficult to remember which is which over the quick passage of time. Salvor is unbearable. She's trying to wear 10 different hats, can apparently talk to ghosts, survive energy weapons, and gives everyone so much attitude yet they all voted her Warden. Her own parents don't even really like her! No way the town does. I don't see a real direction in this show. Thought it would be way better.
"I've made a lot of bad choices Salvor Hardin. Stickin by your side ain't one of them."
"Best Man Servant ever"
Thanks for that one Salvor!
See (2019)
7.5 to 8.5 over the seasons
This show is really cool. Great hand to hand combat and strategy. It's cool to see how people would fight in a world without sight. Relying on sound and smell to fight. Adapting to use a sonar like ability to know thy surroundings. Although I do think there'd be more friendly fire but whatever the fighting makes up for it.
Finale of season 2 was really good but there was a lot of overacting going on. Big production understandable but not great. Queen Kane is good in small doses. The voice is getting me a little at times which is strange because I like other villains Sylvia has played.
As usual the guy who plays Jobe in Banshee, Toad, stole the episode. Love that guy. Can't figure out the girl they cast as the sighted Trevantian. What was her relationship to Edo and where was this magical family she often spoke of? The Haniwa love story did nothing for me. The twins kinda suck.
Baba Voss and the fighting make up for a lot. Although I do like Maghra and Lord Harlan too. Paris was pretty good, Bo Lion too as she seemed to show up in the nicka time with some new tribe and skill set. Tamacti June is pretty dope too.
Fighting. Me fight good. Makes up for a lot. Peace.
Copshop (2021)
Decent Start Terrible Execution
The preview made me really want to like this movie. This movie started off pretty well and then started teetering. Then finally we got a flashback. I was excited, we were finally going to find out the backstory. This movie fell off of a cliff. The backstory was so vague and cheesy and didn't explain anything. The scene where his car blew up was laughable. Frank Grillo's occupation was vague and laughable. Why did FBI agents and police give up their lives for his?
Secondly the female actress was terrible. So bad it was laughable. I leaned to my friend twice and said does this scene seem really strange to you? She talked like she was leading up to a punchline that never came. Same Monotone voice over and over. The movie couldn't overcome this alone.
Third the story was jumbled and no died. They did 4 ohh this person is not dead reveals in a row. Hilarious. People would get shot 10 times and not die. The one cop who was bad but worried about stealing inventory became a psycho murderer really quickly. Teddy was supposed to be the Devil apparently but they gave him a wife and son who we never met nor cared about to do the opposite and humanize him. The two cops coming back from the scene of his murdered family were joking and laughing like it never happened. Way too much slow mo at the end as Teddy is shot a 100 times. And then the slow mo scene of him running and her doing the predictable spin the barrel shot, cuz you know...who wouldn't try that for the first time in a life and death situation. And then after all that he wasn't even dead yet. For some reason Feds and politicians trust a lunatic to murder people for them and not talk. We know the difference between a professional and a psychotic yet they felt the need to explain it to the audience twice. Every gun had unlimited bullets especially the automatic. When she's trying to get into the cell the guy literally fired 500 bullets from one clip.
Then there was the ending. The weirdest most awkward scene. Gerard Butler saves her life, her whole department was murdered, and she has been shot almost to death. So she decides to steal the ambulance leave the paramedics on the side of the road and then goes after Gerard Butler. Then we have a 2 min scene of them driving and humming and singing to the radio. Wtf was that lol. This movie stunk. The Director clearly was going for a Tarantino vibe and missed tremendously.
Outcast (2016)
Great show Rewatching It
I love Kyle Barnes. He's a deeply flawed character that seems real. Show does a good job making it realistic even though it's paranormal. I think the Reverend and Barnes have good chemistry. You see Barnes' transformation even in the first episode. Definitely recommend this show.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Best DC Movie Since Dark Knight Rises
I really enjoyed this film. I would have given it a 10 if the Star Fish was done better but I understand why they did it. You can only mass murder so many people before the audience turns on the characters so making the villain more cartoonish made it easier to butcher everyone lol.
Firstly the Harley Quinn movie was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. In her first two movies the voice drove me nuts and all her fighting was very gimmicky and dumb. A baseball bat? An over sized bop hammer? In this one they scale back on her stupidity and voice and up the crazy. I love it. But in this one we see Harley can really fight and is an absolute killer. The best scene of the movie was when she breaks out and starts killing everyone in a variety of different ways. About half way through we see it from Harleys head and the blood is flowers. I thought Margot Robbie proved she can fight and put in the work. I walked away thinking finally they made Harley Quinn awesome!
John Cena stole the show. He was fantastic. I was dying laughing. Also the Polka dot guy was so funny and the scenes of him seeing his mother were hilarious. Idris Elba was great as always. The opening scene was soo good and I had a feeling it was going to happen but when it actually did I was so pumped. Javelin, TDK, Sevant haha.
Great music, pacing, cinematography, etc. All in all great movie. James Gunn is becoming one of the best Directors on the planet.
Cosmic Sin (2021)
One of the worst movies ever
Back story was pretty great and this had a chance to be great but they released an epic disaster. They spent way too much money getting Bruce Willis and Frank Grillo. They were barely in any scenes and they clearly skimmed in other places.
Bruce Willis's right hand man was not the army type at all and we get one of the weirdest scenes I've ever seen where he is talking to a young girl who apparently appeared out of nowhere that he's going to "save" her. It was so uncomfortable. Before that we get about 45 min of one on one side conversations between characters that were just awful.
The scene where they are flying through the galaxy I absolutely started dying. They looked like Power Rangers!! They travel 13 light years in minutes but when two of them crash into eachother they just go off course a little. Lmao. Who was their physics consultant? Joe Biden?
There's reference to the Alliance govt but that is never shown. So the biggest event in human history is fought by a handful of rag tag military guys. Ohh and the Aliens sent a handful of soldiers to fight initially rather than send their ships through immediately and keep the element of surprise. They ran out of money for Bruce Willis and Frank Grillo so they kept them in those absolutely laughable Quantum suits and just used their voices. This could have been good. The set, the acting, the CGI all awful. Even the Entourage and Old School actress was awful in her role.
This movie is a jumbled mess. It's so freaking bad but not even funny bad. It's mostly pointless side convos and horrible special effects. We never really even get to see the aliens and what they actually look like! Pathetic!!
Blood Red Sky (2021)
Netflix the voice over actors you choose, especially for young boys is pathetic at this point.
This movie relies heavily on the mother son dynamic. Although the mom can only seem to say "Elias" in a whacked out voice. The kids voice was too much too young. Not a single piece of actual dialogue. It's a long movie with way too much down time and random flashbacks. However the actors playing Vampires did a great job. Especially the main girl. Interesting to see a Vampire especially one as ferocious as her trying to live a normal life. Jaded with the fact she is cursed. Thought it was a great plot pretty well done but really could have been way better.
Old (2021)
M. Knight is On a Roll!
M. Knight is on his best streak since the start of his career with Sixth Sense, Signs; and Unbreakable. This recent streak started with Split, then Glass, and then the phenomenal show Servant on Apple +. If you haven't seen Servant you're missing out. One of the best shows on tv.
Old is a great movie. It focuses on human life and what's really important to you. It also is a very fresh take on the age old question. Is it right to sacrifice the few to save the many? I'm pumped M. Knight is making great movies again. If he keeps making them I'll keep seeing them.
The Forever Purge (2021)
The Disrespect of Releasing This Movie on July 4th
I am not political. I am 1 out of 330 million people. Nothing I say or do is going to change anything. One thing I do respect is history. The millions of men and women of all races who have died for this country to make it the country it is today. This movie is political garbage. It's hilariously bad. This movie is a slap in the face to all of the Americans around the world. It's also a complete insult to our history and everyone who has given their life for America. Releasing it on July 4th was like spitting in the eye of our Veterans. These film makers should be ashamed of themselves. All they're trying to do is create a divide in our country and make people hate. Pathetic.
Fatale (2020)
So Bad
The only reason Swank signed onto this movie was because she was cast as the evil hot chick and realistically how often has that happened? Especially at 46 years old.
This movie is so predictable. All of the people are dirt bags and all the white people are evil per Hollywood's mandate. It's not worth watching. In fact it's terrible.
The I-Land: Brave New World (2019)
Arrogant Brats Get Stranded On an Island
Cocky girl who is sunbathing but doesn't want to to be bothered or seem to care she woke up on a desert island with amnesia finds the only book buried in the sand next to her and casually throws it into the ocean. Enough said....
Most vein group of people who have ever lived really don't seem to care about anything or try to work together. Kate Bosworth plays another over the top Southern jerk. Not a likable character in the whole show. Can't get over the book thing. How stupid are these people?!
The Handmaid's Tale: The Wilderness (2021)
Good Scene But Seriously?
This is my nightmare! That's what I was thinking when Waterford was getting chased by all the Handmaids. That was probably the best scene of the show since season 1. Doesn't make up for all of the horrendous story telling over the last two seasons. Or how much I hate June but it was a good scene.
But seriously, we couldn't get Serena's reaction to the violent death of her husband. Her fear in possibly becoming a Handmaiden. If Serena doesn't become a Handmaid next season and have her kid taken away I will scream. I've been waiting 3 seasons for her downfall. In that time we've had 2,347,876 close ups of June's face but we can't get 1 Serena reaction?! Just to tease us and hold us over until next season. Instead we have mail guy open up just 1 package out of 100 that happened to have his finger in it. Cmon. Seriously. They better have taken pictures.
And how about Gilead and the Canadians just walk back and forth across the border like nothing now. They go here to meet than back across then meet up down there with neither government interacting. Plot holes galore and lazy story telling. This show is not good.
The Handmaid's Tale: Progress (2021)
No More Closeups!!
Elizabeth Moss directed this episode and still all we get are close ups of her face! June has become one of the most hatable characters ever. She is extremely selfish. She thinks she's tough. In a previous episode Lawrence said how June's talent is she gets everyone to like her. It's true in the show people bend over backwards for her but it is so unbelievable that they do and that people like her. Because she is one of the most unlikable characters ever. She gets people killed, tortured, and only thinks of herself. And the close ups of her face. Awful!! I honestly don't know why I still watch this show. I'll watch one more and then I'm done! Also Lydia looking at Janine like a daughter is laughable. Does she remember that she gouged her eye out, beat her, tortured her, and tried to have girls stone her to death? I guess that's love in Lydia's eyes. The whole Lydia character turning evil because she couldn't get a man is lazy and pathetic.
Outlander: Do No Harm (2018)
Claire is Getting Ridiculous
Claire is becoming really stupid. Making horrible decisions all the time and almost getting everyone killed. She can't see to grasp the save the many instead of the few. She goes full blast Doctor Claire when anyone is injured. Claire you gave that up when you decided to go 200 years into the past again.
She does not listen to anyone. She's combative, rude, and judgemenal to Jamie's incredibly nice Aunt only because of the time period and land she lives on. And Claire chose to go to!! Claire also fails to mention to Jamie in her crusade to abolish the house slaves that a civil war was fought over this very thing that turned out to be the bloodiest war in American history. Is what she trying to do noble? Absolutely. But her blatant disregard of what's best for everyone in this episode crossed a line in my opinion and if it were anyone else they'd be dead. It's becoming all about social justice and worst of all she is starting to make Jamie stupid. The show just hasn't been good for awhile. I may not watch anymore.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Some Good Most Really Bad
The opening scene of this movie was fantastic. The main zombie cuts through the Seals team quickly and with ferocious intensity. We then see that these zombies can communicate with each other. I thought to myself ohh this is going to be good. I was wrong.
We then have one of the strangest most drawn out intros I've ever seen. I guess it was supposed to be comedic but we see people in Las Vegas killing thousands of zombies and they are stupid and slow, nothing like the zombies from the opening scene. Like the credits there are multiple scenes that drag on and on. I turned to my friend at one point during one of the numerous unnecessary side bar "heart to heart" conversations and said are they ever going to fight any zombies? There's like 20 minutes left in the movie.
The daughter was an insufferable character. She volunteered at this camp and was obsessed with Gheeta for some reason and her 3 sisters. All of which die and she doesn't care at all. She survives a plane crash and a nuclear explosion and then Dave Batista gives her money to help Gheetas kids and get the out of the camp. Are you kidding me?!??! We saw that the camp was up against the shipping containers walls of Las Vegas and they just dropped a nuclear bomb on it!! Anyone in that camp was liquified. Well except for the guy in the safe who isn't affected by radiation or nuclear bombs apparently. And doesn't know when he is bit by a Zombie. Isn't that the whole reason they wanted out of the camps? So a nuke didn't drop on them. Gheeta's whole family is toast. And the insufferable daughter will be dead in a few days from radiation as well.
When the Japanese guy is going over the plans it almost sounded satirical. The German guys comic relief is not funny at all. The funniest part of the movie is when the Spanish woman's head gets snapped backwards. The guy who betrayed them was so clearly going to betray them. This movie was a joke.
The only reason I'm giving it a 5 is because the opening scene was cool, I liked the concept of the alphas and how they could communicate and even reproduce, and I thought the French girl Coyote was a good character. The rest of it sucked!
Hey Gheeta, I've got a feeling your whole family's going down!
Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)
Never Captured My Attention
The movie is decent and has some well acted powerful parts, but it focuses a lot on side stories and is kind of choppy. It doesn't really know what it wants to be in my opinion. I feel they could have gone deeper into the characters. Especially the character (Daniel) plays. I think his portrayal could have been better.
The movie goes off on tangents without really building the core story. Then we get a quick mass shooting and it's over. For a movie nominated for an Oscar I would think it would have been way better. But that goes to show you about the types of movies nominated for Awards these days.
Outlander (2014)
Time Traveling Liberal
I'm towards the end of season 2. I like this show a lot but I find myself chuckling about Claire being a time traveling liberal from the future. She acts more like a present day liberal from 2021 rather than 1948.
I like Claire though she's feisty. She tries to change people's attitudes and behaviors and before she was married to Jamie she probably would have had a much tougher time. I'm surprised Dougal hasn't beaten her half to death. I love how she doesn't hold back and makes her mind known.
I think season 2 taking part mostly in France was a great idea. We see that surrounding countries are very different to Scottland. I hope we'll see England soon too. Love that the show draws on real historical figures like Prince Charles Stuart and King Louis of France. Claire yelling at the French Aristocrat women was funny and they totally misconstrued it and said you're right we should put the homeless somewhere else. We do that even today offering them one way flights out of California and Hawaii rather dealing with the problem. Claire sees the world from a 21st century perspective rather than a 20th. But it makes for great confrontations and I love it. Hope the show keeps getting better but it's very good so far.
Also Claire should have invested in a bunch of companies and ventures with her knowledge!!!
Wrath of Man (2021)
Guy Ritchie Enters a New Realm of Film Making
First off I want to say Snatch is in my top 3 favorite movies of all time of not number 1. I absolutely love that movie. Like many of Guy Ritchie's films that came before Wrath of Man; Snatch, Lock Stock, Rock n Rola, and The Gentlemen they were all light hearted Gangsta movies that at their heart are comedies. They all had excellent plots that were interesting and had a way of introducing a wide spectrum of characters that inexplicably come together at the end. Wrath of Man was no different in this regard.
The story was told out of order almost Terentino style but keeping with some of Guy Ritchie's work in the past. The thing that separates this movie is there is zero comic relief, and our hero is an intense psychopath that maybe says 35 words the entire movie. But it works! The intense music is the driving force of the movie. There's an especially good musical number when H's crew kidnaps and tortures rival crews looking for answers. You also learn very little about H which makes his character all the more mysterious.
The scene at the end of the movie was iconic. It was intense and must have been so difficult to shoot. Reminded me a little of the Fenway Park robbery in the town. We learn by the end of the movie that it's not just H's wrath in the title. Crews torturing and killing other crews. Military units are angry and start robbing trucks, then killing innocents, then turning on their brothers for money. There was plenty of wrath to go around.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
One of a Few Sequels That are Better Than the Original
I know I know. Most of you will disagree with me. I liked the original movie a lot. The first time I saw it was about 10 years ago. I'm a huge sci-fi fan and I like to watch some of the older classics that came out before I was born. The first was iconic and was a great movie.
I honestly thought this one was better. The story was great. It had the same vibe with the dark music and the rainy LA streets. A world with Replicants. What a great story. Ryan Gosling was amazing in this movie. Anna De Armis too. Phenomenal sequel. I don't understand why people thought this was boring. It was excellent.
The Nevers (2021)
Great Unexpected Deaths
When Mary is singing that strange song that only the touched could hear it was so uplifting and powerful. Then out of nowhere she gets riddled with bullets. It was hilarious. And so unexpected.
Then they try to save the crazy girl during the public execution but she laughs and literally just jumps and snaps her neck. I was like what the hell? Lol. But then it turns out it's not her and she's actually the beautiful reporter. Great twist.
I must say I'm surprised how good this show is. Based on the description I was skeptical but once I saw Joss Whedon was involved I knew it would be great. Has there anyone who has been more influential on empowering women than Joss Whedon? Most of his shows are violent and hero driven with women as the main characters. Whether it's Buffy, Angel, Agents of Shield, or Dollhouse they are all shows with strong women at the center who kick serious butt. This show is no different. It's very similar to X-Men but set in Victorian England. It was extremely ambitious but it turned out to be great. Love the characters and their powers. I hope this show continues for multiple seasons.
