Not worth the watch
12 February 2021
The first thought that left me baffled and spoilt the experience of watching this movie, which admittedly i did not bother watching till the end is why in the wide world were the characters speaking in hindi, if they are meant to be a family living in tamil nadu, firmly entrenched in the agragaram community living? With random tamil words thrown in, for what exactly? Perhaps for good measure It thoroughly annoyed me. Tamilians especially the tamil iyengars do not speak hindi in their day to day living If you want to make a hindi language movie, set it in north india, in delhi perhaps Maybe its just me, but then i always as a matter of principle do not watch movies with an obvious, glaring, jarring issue between language and the native setting of the movie itself Acting was completely one dimensional as well, with really weird, stilted conversations all around Just utter balderdash Could have been a great movie, especially with the idea of this movie Just a complete let down and its a shame

A Princess for Christmas (2011 TV Movie)

A Lovable Tale Infused with Christmas Magic
24 December 2012
This is a modern day fairy tale with no fresh spin whatsoever in the story line yet it was a truly enjoyable watch. I watched it on a lonely Christmas day spent away from family and friends, and " A princess for Christmas" somehow managed to get me into the Christmas spirit albeit only for an hour and a half. I watched this movie with no great expectations and at the end of the day it turned out to be a pleasant watch after all. So, if you are willing to disregard all the parameters that you might have in regard to this film, you might turn out to enjoy this light-hearted, holiday spirited movie. After all, who wouldn't want their happily ever after to become a reality right? Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!

Leelai (2012)

An Absolutely Adorable Watch
24 December 2012
The easiest way to review Leelai is this: if you are a romantic person at heart in search of a decent love story that adheres devoutly to the genre of romance with no wanton distractions, this is the movie you have been waiting for. The plot was pretty simple but at least there were no gaping plot holes in it-not as far as I could see. It was very sweet and simple and the leads in the movie- Shiv Pandit and Manashi Parekh were extremely good in bringing forth their emotions considering the fact that they are newcomers in the industry. The movie showcased the lifestyle of the urbanites of modern India and I would have to say that the director avoided being to formulaic while making a valiant effort to make a movie that tilts more towards the realistic side of life with regard to the backdrop of the movie. The songs in the movie? They had superb lyrics impregnated with meaning, if you would care to look for it. All in all, the best thing about this movie is that, it does not pretend to be something it is not. At the beginning it promises to be a light- hearted, romantic plus comedy flick and that is what you get throughout the movie. In my humble opinion, the storyline was well paced since it was neither draggy nor rushed. At the very least, if you decide to enjoy the movie, that is what you should feel and I sure hope you would enjoy it because it has got this air of freshness permeating through it that you would not get in most Tamil movies.

An infusion of magic and warmth

Rise of the Guardians is capable of giving both adults and their kids a wonderful time at the theatre. I am from a culture that does not ascribe to all the characters from this exceptionally beguiling animation nevertheless even I fell for its charm. That goes to say that people from all cultures, irrespective of their age group could walk into the theatre and be amazed at the awakening of their inner child. Jack Frost was my personal favourite in the cartoon and his story is one that could touch your heart. Many might even be able to identify with him and the trouble that plagues him which is resolved at the end of the story- 'to be invisible'to others. The liberty the creators of this animation took with the 'Guardians' especially the way Jack Frost was depicted, was a delight to me because I had always imagined him to be a a old man with a blue sheen to his skin and a wicked glint in his eyes. Jack Frost in the Rise of the Guardians on the other hand- well go catch it at the theatre and you will know what I am talking about. All in all, it is a heart- warming story with non-stop action, certain scenes to get you to crack up and a message that is very much familiar to most of us but still one worth being reminded of- have faith and belief!!!

Numero uno in its class
17 November 2012
For me this movie is easily the best movie of 2012 and it provided the best possible platform for the comeback of actress Sridevi.English Vinglish from the very beginning lets you know where the story is heading to but nevertheless you still would want to keep watching. Why? Because it has a certain sincerity capable of warming you right up to the cockles of your heart. A beautiful movie with a lovely message made in an endearing prose style and to top it all off it managed to be hilariously funny at certain points. Of course the entire crew of this movie deserves a whole lot of applaud for giving a stellar performance that was both convincing and sincere. At times English Vinglish could strike you as being a triffle too formulaic but due to the well-managed plot as well as the great charisma exuded by the ensemble of cast, this movie is not one of those trite ones that would be soon out of your mind. All in all, this is a must watch movie for the entire family and there is a high probability that once the movie ends, you would want to watch it all over again. My personal opinion? It is worth watching more than once for it is a film with a storyline as unique as its name..

Laugh Aloud Romp
24 July 2012
This could pass for one of those hate it or love it films. I just finished watching the movie and there were some moments so hilarious that I practically had tears in my eyes by the time I finished laughing. The storyline was not exactly refreshing in concept but the cast did a good job in my opinion and since I was in much need of some cheering up,the movie worked just fine for me. In all fairness, you could do so much more worse than choosing to watch this movie. The CGI effects were not that up to par but it doesn't really mar the film's entertainment value. Just go ahead and give it a try. If you don't expect too much out of the film you might actually end up relishing the movie.
