Quiz Lady (2023)
Lighthearted and fun!
I checked out the trailer which encouraged me to watch and I was not sorry!
This is a little off the wall, basic but very funny mad-cap comedy with a great cast who deliver on their performances.
It's not ground breaking by any stretch but I wanted something light to take me away from the doom and gloom of the reality of the world right now and this was such an enjoyable distraction for me
I hadn't encountered Akwafina previously but really enjoy Oh (especially in killing Eve) and of course, Ferrell two solid actors with varied repertoires.
A definite recommend to watch from me, made me smile!!
Ted Lasso (2020)
One of the best TV Series in years
Haven't enjoyed a as series so much in years.
Jason S is incredible with a phenomenal supporting cast. Feel good, uplifting and human.
Cannot recommend this highly enough.
Rebecca (2020)
Sorry to say a waste of 2 hours
Despite my recalling this to be an intriguing tale it left much to be desired.
After an acceptable even perhaps promising opening, Rebecca transformed into a very dull, meandering affair and wooden performances.
No connection to the characters and no great investment in a murky plot.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Disappointed
Very disappointed with this regardless of what genre it is meant to sit in. Was so looking forward to this after an amazing 1st series and feel let down.
The 1st four episodes were unnecessary in length. At that point I hoped the pace would be sustained but ultimately it ebbed and flowed continuously.
The casting for me was about 60/40, Pedretti again stellar however I wasn't keen on most any other.
The soliloquies were interminable and for me didn't lend to the atmosphere but turned the viewing into a chore but once I had invested I was committed to seeing it out.
I've watched the 1st season twice and wasn't bored.
A great shame.
IMDb on the Scene - Interviews: Ratched (2020)
Immediate Withdrawal !
I was impatiently awaiting this release since hearing about it.
I absolutely adored it. The set, cinematography, costume, acting - flawless and engaging.
Particularly loved the use of colour throughout. Will admit I had to refrain from watching some of the 'treatments', the plot or pace perhaps lost it's way a little at times but nothing is perfect.
Looking forward to the next instalment immensely!!
