Mud (2012)
Work of Art
It's like Jamie Lannister saying " The things I do for Love "
" You need to watch yourself " -Mud In fact, everyone needs to watch himself, mostly the eponymous fugitive and almost so the 14 year olds Ellis (Tye Sheridan) and Neckbone (Jacob Lofland), who aid the murderer Mud (Matthew McConaughey)as he connects with his lost love, Juniper (Reese Witherspoon) and evades bounty hunters and irate family members of his victim. Everyone seems to be running from something.
Mud, who is in trouble for killing his girlfriends " troubler/ molester " , is being chased and hunted down by the police and the victims family. Mud runs off to an island on the banks of Mississippi and finds a Boat on a tree and apparently two young explorers also find the same. They help Mud rebuild it so he can get off the island and go far from there as possible with his love Juniper.
While Juniper still doesn't trust him, he leaves her for good, and decides to leave the place alone once and for all. While saying the final good bye he gets attacked by the bounty hunters at gets shot. The last scene depicts him on a boat with his uncle ( who according to Mud was an Assassin) are off to the sea with a new life.
The filmography is beautiful with a country-side setting. The shots of the great Mississippi river is also charming. I still don't get it why Matthew was not nominated for Oscars for this.
The Walk (2015)
Surreal BioPic
The movie was exactly what you would expect from Robert Zameckis, Forrest Gump still his best output, the biopic of a French artist of dreams of walking on high wire across the Twin Towers.
The movie is set in 1974 in France about Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). At a very young age he becomes fascinated by the local wire-walker Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley) and tries to wire walk on his own backyard. He was repeatedly called the Circus Clown by his father who did not like what he did. Soon Philippe found he was very good at balancing and juggling, and started to practice and learn. This didn't go for long soon he was kicked from his home by his father. He didn't have any other job so he started performing on streets, he used to draw a circle and call it his void he didn't talk or let anyone inside his void because that is where he performs. Once going through a magazine he notices a magnificent work of art "The twin towers" and instantly promises and makes his life's dream to walk across the twin tower on high wire. There he meets Annie (Charlotte Le Bon) a fellow street artist and falls in love with her, tells him all about his dreams and practices with her at her art school.
Then he starts looking for fellow mates to fulfill his dream of crossing twin towers, he finds Jean-Louis (Clément Sibony) and Jean- Louis' friend, Jean-François (César Domboy). He also learns everything from Papa Rudy and sets off to New York.
From the very first day he starts to learn each and everything about the twin tower and plans begin to perform the coup. To perform this they had to find an inside man who came to person who saw him perform in Paris and was fascinated by his artistic skills. With his help and some fellow French mates living in NYC he begins his preparations for the final day.
The day come and he is pumped with adrenaline, he performs the climatic walk in front of whole of NY and everyone embraces him and he becomes a legend in NY.
Robert Zameckis has done a great job along with the fx guys great movie to watch in 3D.
Southpaw (2015)
**** Just another Boxing Movie ****
Saw this movie just now and feel like I'm watching 'Creed' all over again. Like every other boxing movie starts with a bang then downfall of a legend... then broke stage of boxer and then Bam! up again. This movie feels like a clichéd Boxing movie. Rachel McAdams did a great job at the start of the movie often over powering Jake but the real deal was Oona Lawrences part great job girl (Hope to see to ahead in more movies ). But above all you got to appreciate Jake Gyllenhaal intensity throughout the movie that's why I gave it a 7. No special filmography, but a new and interesting cover story on the Boxer. I wanted to see more aggression for Whitaker. A good weekend movie I'd say !
