Exit Humanity (2011)
Tried to finish it
The zombie genre has really suffered the last several years. There are so many movies about zombies, and none of them remotely good. This one I tried, it looked interesting so I gave it a shot. The beginning was pretty good, opening with a battle where the first zombie is seen. But the problems begin after that. There are too many scenes of dialogue that drag on forever. These tend to get boring. There are a few actual on screen killings but most cut away or show in animation form. The acting was good, and the effects were alright when shown. They had a good idea but it was executed poorly. The actual story would have been better without the zombies, but I guess they were thrown in, which is what it feels like when you watch it. All in all it is much better than a lot of the zombie movies but it is boring.
Germ (2013)
One bad low budget film
Tried to watch this one, but talk about boring. It takes 40 minutes before anything happens. There are not really any likable characters in this film, because there is really no character development. As for the special effects, if you can catch any, are bad. It cuts away anytime someone would get shot or bitten so you never really see anything. Acting seems forced and not natural, not that it should be expected as Oscar material. All in all I wouldn't recommend this, the film cover is deceiving. I would generally stay away from any low budget zombie flick, some are good but the majority are awful. **/10. Stick with George Romero's films. Which contain plenty of gore and great special effects.
Evil Dead (2013)
Very good, nothing like the original
I don't know if all the people saw the same movie I did, but what I saw was probably one of the best horror movies to come out in the last 5 years. The acting wasn't amazing, it was a horror movie, so I don't know why people expect them to give Oscar performances. This was not a disappointment. After all the hype about the original I saw it, and that was a disappointment. I would not call this a remake, although it used the same basic idea. There is PLENTY of blood/gore in the movie, and several cringing scenes; an arm being cut off, a hand being ripped off, a hand being blown off, and an amazing chainsaw scene. On top of that is was creepy, it wasn't stupid and had a pretty solid story line. This was a good movie, and better than I expected. The effects were good, and plenty of blood spill to satisfy any gorehound.
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Best Adaption of Dracula
Not only is this movie good because it is about the Horror legend of Dracula, but because it stars Gary Oldman as Dracula. He gives Dracula a personality, instead of just being a monster he gives a performance showing him as a Human. This movie is also back up by and excellent cast: Winona Ryder and Anthony Hopkins and Cary Elwes. This sets and costumes are also very well done, and the special effects are excellent. There are two notable consumes that Gary Oldman changes into: The Werewolf and the Giant Bat which were very creepy. The acting is very good; the only problem I seen was the Keanu Reeves performance seems very stiff and 1 dimensional. Other than that the movie as a whole is very good, and I believe most of the credit should go to Gary Oldman from his performance as Dracula, if it were anyone else I don't know how well the movie would have done.
Night of the Living Dead (1990)
Good remake by the master of Special effects
This is very good remake of the classic movie, especially since it was directed by Tom Savini. The special effects are done very well, the autopsy zombie is especially gruesome. The movie also has a creepy feel to it, much like the original. The story itself did not change much, and characters retain the same names. This version is also the best one to come out with the same name as the original, and there have been plenty of horrible movies that keep the name of the original. The whole movie is solid and the acting isn't half bad. The violence is very tame though, especially coming from Tom Savini, and I believe it focuses more on human nature more than the violence. I would recommend this movie for George Romero's fans and Tom Savini fans. Very well done.
Ironclad (2011)
Very Good, needed more attention
First off, this is not meant to be a Historical Drama or even be historically accurate the main theme of the movie seems to be the violence. The movie begins with violence, and doesn't stop the whole way through. The acting, I believe was pretty good, having 2 good actors as the main characters: James Purefoy an Paul Giamatti. The violence is brutal, ranging from a tongue being cut out to someone being beaten with a severed arm. There is plenty of blood splatter and decapitations throughout the film. The special effects are really good, and makes it very believable that the castle was being blown to bits. Overall this is a very solid movie, that need more attention.
The Walking Dead (2010)
The Best Zombie epic to ever come out
I remember waiting for this on Halloween 2010, and have bee hooked ever since. This is the best zombie series that has come out (aside from George Romero's amazing zombie movies) and would highly recommend this to any horror fan. This has all that makes a good series: Very Solid excellent acting/actors a solid and smart plot and the best zombie special effects I have ever seen. If you want a violent/gory show with very good acting and storyline this is the show for you. It is also very creepy (especially the first episode when Rick first sees the zombies in the hospital) and has plenty of jump moments. This is probably the best show on TV now, so if you have never seen this show I recommend buying seasons 1 and 2, and you will be hooked. An absolute treasure of a show that will go down in TV history.
Rise of the Zombies (2012)
Just awful syfy movie type.
OK, after 4 good reviews of the case, I thought I would give this movie a try. First the acting was bad, and seemed forced more than natural (not that I was expecting Walking dead type acting). The Special EFX were also pretty bad, the same used in syfy channel movies. One review compares this more violent than The Walking Dead (which it was not). Most Kills were CGI which was very obvious, and for some reason the zombies would react as a human, when getting punched, kicked etc. This whole movie seemed to move from one area to the next very fast, with no real character development. The amount of zombies actually killed is a lot lower than you would think, and they are killed pretty much the same manner each time. Overall I would not recommend this movie, It is a low budget syfy type movie with bad acting and Special EFX. If these type of movies continue to come out, the zombie genre will begin to fade, hopefully WORLD WAR Z will come out very well and give it the boost it needs, the walking dead can't do all the work!
Lincoln (2012)
A very good movie for Lincoln Lovers
This is one of the best movies that I have seen in a long time. I couldn't ask for a better movie or a better cast. Daniel Day-Lewis gives one of his best performances, and is complemented by an excellent performances by Sally field and Tommy Lee Jones. If you love politics then this gives you plenty of time watching debates, and makes you feel like you are actually in 1865 watching a debate. The sets and clothes are also excellent, the acting is solid all the way through. I have no complaints about this movie. It seemed liked the time just passed by when you were watching it. I would have loved for it to be longer. I would highly recommend this movie, and believe it is the best movie about Lincoln ever made.
28 Days Later... (2002)
A different post apocalyptic zombie movie
A very different view of the post apocalyptic-zombie genre. The idea was good, but it seemed that it could have been a lot better. Where it really slowed down is the story of the father and girl. All together this is a pretty different movie; Generally for Romero fans this will seem a little boring, which is what I thought. Its not that especially violent, and has a different view of zombies than what is usually shown. I was a little disappointed with this movie, after all the hype I saw about it I thought this was going to be an absolute excellent movie. There are some things that could have been explained better, and there could have been better character development. If you want a different view on the zombie genre this I would recommend this, if you are a hard core Romero fan it's a good movie to pass the time.
