Eternal Spring (2022)
I have watched it twice
Eternal Spring is so real, touching and inspiring. I watched it twice at AMC in October. After watching it the first time, I couldn't stop thinking about it. The scenes kept popping up into my mind. Not only is the story depicted emotionally moving, but the themes and the real events it reflected is soul touching. That is the reason I watched it again the next day.
Eternal Spring is not a funny or entertainment film, but a serious documentary. One time is absolutely not enough to capture the details. This kind of film with depth will make you contemplate while watching. Additionally, it's a foreign film. So thus you may miss some details when reading the subtitles.
The superb 3D animation and innovative presentation is another reason why I watched it twice.
I look forward to seeing the film again in the future when it is available again in theaters or on online platforms.
Unsilenced (2021)
My body was shaking
A friend invited me to see this film at a private screening. I am very grateful.
While watching the movie, my body trembled violently for a few moments. I was really touched!
I think I was moved by this story for several reasons.
1. It is very powerful. If you liked how Truman overcame obstacles and found himself in The Truman Show, if you've ever been moved by Nero's strong willpower in The Matrix, or the prisoner Shawshank, you'll know what I'm talking about.
2, it is real, not science fiction. This movie is based on a true story.
3, It is relevant to our current daily life. While movies like Schindler's List and Hacksaw Ridge were also based on true stories, they were made decades later to remind people of these heroes and events. In contrast, the stories presented in "Unsilenced" are still happening. Audiences can choose to influence the outcome by participating in their real lives. That's pretty remarkable.
Inception (2010)
Kick Chinese and pro-Beijing Westerners from their Babylon Dream
"Are we in a dream or in the real world?" It is a good question, exactly for the Chinese people and pro-Beijing Westerners.
In the movie, Cobb and Mal were trapped in Limbo for 50 years, unaware that their world wasn't real.
On earth, in the past one hundred years, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has designed and built a vast and complex world of dreams, dreams within dreams. We can call it the Great Babylon. It includes the CCP's self-labeled "greatness, glory, correctness", "liberation of all mankind", "socialism with Chinese characteristics", the PRC dream, Xi Jinping's "Community of Common Human Destiny", China's huge market, giving time and goodwill to the CCP, that is the ancient snake or red dragon, to expect it to change, and so on.
More than one billion people, including Chinese and foreigners, were trapped in this Great Babylon.
Wake up, dreamers! Come back, dreamers!
Babylon is falling! Xi is kicking you!
Counting down! Move fast!
Dune (2021)
Why I gave it a relatively low rating
I watched this movie yesterday. It is a good movie, but I was not excited or inspired as I was watching Matrix, Star Wars, or the Lord of the Rings.
I admire Paul Atreides for accepting his fate and having the courage to face his fears. But on the other hand, he did not act as other characters like Neo did - to inventively break the old agenda.
Maybe because it is just the beginning?
Letter from Masanjia (2018)
Very touching!
I just watched this documentary this afternoon in Pasadena. Very touching! 👏 I highly recommend it to everyone.
When he was long time tortured, he kept encouraging himself: I am still breathing, so why I give in? He defend his belief to traditional values with his life.
Salute to hero Sun Yi, his family and all anonymous contributors.
