Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
I got my hopes up
I'm tired of reading "well if you're an OG fan, you're being close minded...". If you say you're going to do a live action of Avatar: The Last Airbender, then it should exactly be like the original Avatar: The Last Airbender. If not, call it something else, because what is the point??? They basically took the characters from the original and made a whole new storyline. The acting and writing of this show is terrible. They removed all the emotion, humor, and character development that came with the original storyline. I didn't even finish the first episode because it couldn't keep my attention, it was that flat and uninteresting. Not even the overuse of CGI could catch my attention. Do it right or don't do at all, make something new and stop attempting to try to piggyback off of great shows because it's not working.
Girl from Nowhere (2018)
S1 is great! S2, not so much.
Season 1 was great and Chicha is an AMAZING actress! Nanno reminded me of Junji Ito's Tomie and I love that. However, I cannot say the same about Season 2. The first episode of Season 2 was good, but after that, it felt like they did not put in the same deep thought as they did in previous episodes and it fell flat. I also found Yuri (S2) to be quite annoying and in the way, I liked it MUCH better when it was just Nanno (Chicha) doing her thing, adding Yuri was not needed. I hope if there is a S3, they put more thought into the episodes like S1 and go without Yuri.
Spontaneous (2020)
Good film
This film gave me so much anxiety because I had no idea when someone was going to blow up. There are no hints, no foreshadowing, no warning, they just blow up. I had to keep stopping the film because not knowing when someone would blow up made my heart beat too fast. In my opinion, this is one of those type of films that you watch only once. In entirety, the film was good. 8/10.
Where Hands Touch (2018)
Accents are all over the place, but still good
The accents in this film are all over the place, especially Amandla's German accent. It sounded more like she was supposed to be in Black Panther, but ended up in the wrong movie. Other than that, the film is good. Not great, but good.
Aladdin (2019)
Okay
The movie fell quite flat, the acting subpar. The only reason I give it a five is because Will Smith managed to get a few good laughs out of me. No one can replace Robin Williams as Genie, but I think Will Smith did a good job for the live action. He was the most convincing compared to the rest.
Jurassic World (2015)
What is this foolishness??
The acting is BEYOND terrible. I had a good laugh through the whole thing, but not for any good reasons. It felt like a bunch of random scenes put together to make this film, nothing really connects. Chris Pratt is a good actor, but he should have passed on this.
