Brutal, Sad, Oddly Funny, Hopeful, Horrifying, and Brilliant
23 February 2014
Season 2, of American HORROR STORY is, as has been said many times, much better than Season 1. In fact Season 2 is so sad, brutal and yet absolutely brilliant, I could not stop watching it. I have seen just about every Horror movie there is, and I often feel so cheated, bored, or 'so-so' - so often bored to tears and often kind of angry with the shallowness and cliché. But the ASYLUM (Season 2) is by far the best mini series Horror I have ever seen. I was terribly fixated, and could not stop watching it episode by episode back to back. I had very real feelings of such utter despair and sadness, yet I was exhilarated, hopeful, happy and yet contentedly horrified. ;] Just brilliant.

The Other 3 Reviews Must Be Self-Promotion
18 February 2014
The other 3 reviews must be self-promotion, or from the crew, because without a doubt this is one of the slowest, most boring movies I have ever had the displeasure to sit through. Wooden acting from all - the blonde girl irritating 'acting' beyond belief..At the 48 minute mark I had to check to see how long the movie had to go..only 32 minutes!?! wtf? But NOTHING has happened! Nothing at all of any real substance..Nothing at all. And not even psychologically speaking..Do yourself a favour and pass this one on bye - It's a stinker! I watch Horror movies all the time, and find it hard to see one I haven't seen, so therefore I see a lot of rubbish, but very few make me want to write a bad review. I cannot believe that this piece of rubbish has a vote of 68% Just doesn't deserve anywhere near that..

Testament (1983)

Definitely the worst of the 3 most well known nuclear war movies..
16 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I just finished re-watching it after 30 years, and I'd have to say it was about as emotionally powerful as it was in the 80's as it is now. However, emotion is a very broad spectrum pool of feelings, and in contrast with the actual realities of nuclear war, this one is easily the less believable of the major 3 (Threads, Day After, Testament). Why? Because after a nuclear exchange in the northern hemisphere, the slow, horribly grinding days of boredom, hunger and eventual radiation sickness, slowly waiting to die, would be something we in the southern hemisphere would probably experience more at this extremely slow, and less...let's say: radical rate. Watch 'On the Beach' for an inkling into what I am getting at here.

In the northern hemisphere: Billions in major cities would die in the first round of nukes, immediately vaporized, and then billions more would go a little slower (but not much) on the outskirts, yet much quicker than in this farce. Even those in the country would be dying in unimaginable physical horror for weeks on end - much more quickly gone the way of extreme violence, with extremely heavy, messy biological contamination, medical problems and radiation sickness than here 'foretold'. It's 'leisurely' pace is it's complete downfall IMO because of where it is set, it makes little to know sense, and believability is very important in these types of movies.

'Threads' by comparison, was a far more accurate portrayal of proposed sad events.
