Prank Encounters (2019)
AWESOME! Fameless reboot!
If you watched and loved Fameless, you will love this show too - because it has the same cast! I love that they brought this cast back together because they are all so good together.
Apparently some people stupidly thought this was "preying on" the jobless (what kind of moron thinks like this?), but the people on the show were only supposed to be working for one day. It's not like they told them they had a full time job and then took it away. Plus they all look like they had a fantastic time and got to be on a show. I would love to do that! It would be an adventure. Hate the way idiots try to ruin anything fun. Lighten up, "warriors."
Diagnosis (2019)
Good show, disappointed in last episode
Overall I enjoyed this show. The cases were mostly interesting. I do have a couple frustrations with a couple episodes though.
Firstly, Lachey (teen girl who won't stop vomiting all the time) and her mother were so difficult to watch. It's like her mother was so invested in her condition that she did not want her to get better. She got defensive when they suggested a diagnosis, as if she just wanted to reject every possibility so they could keep pretending like there wasn't a solution. There are people who like to be sick or have a close family member that is sick. They feed off of the attention they get from always being the "victim." I think that is definitely the case here. She never went to a treatment center that had excellent success rates. Why? No reason, other than the fear it might work and she won't get the attention anymore. So frustrating.
The second issue was with the last episode. They started making claims that women "of color" get treated differently by the "mostly white" doctors in the US. I am curious as to where in the US the doctors are mostly white. They are all Asian, Indian, and Midlle Eastern where I live. You might find one or two that are white. That's it. I think their claim is absolutely baseless and they are just making the claim to feed into stereotypes.
And what "color" was this woman supposed to be? I get that she is Hispanic of some sort, but she is most definitely not a color any darker than white. She used her supposed "color" as the reason that doctors thought her condition was all in her head. Of course a doctor would think that if all the tests are coming back negative and they cannot find a cause for your symptoms. Eventually that is where you end up, no matter what color, shape, or gender anyone is. I get so tired of people making everything about race or gender. Heaven forbid you ever accept that maybe - just maybe - people are making their judgements based on *you,* not just what you look like.
Rant over.
Cutthroat Kitchen (2013)
Fun, entertaining, and silly
Many of the reviews on here seem to be from people who miss the point of the show entirely. The sabotages force the chefs to be creative to overcome them. It is fun to watch them try to work around a crazy cooking vessel, a crazy thing to carry around, or a time waster.
There is an educational component to the show. We learn how to improvise and make something when the ideal conditions are not there. That is good information.
Alton Brown is adorable, as always, and is a key component to the show. Without him it would definitely not be as fun to watch. He is the one that provides a lot of the educational commentary on the show as well.
It kills me that there are so many snobs out there that want to watch what would be the most boring cooking show ever - chefs cooking fancy food with no obstacles to overcome. Talk about boring. These are probably the people that watch early morning Food Network fare, which consists entirely of the "here is a chef who will cook a dish and talk about it" shows. I prefer primetime Food Network competition shows.
And no, the one with the least amount of money is not always the winner in the end. Not even most of the time.
'Til Death: Joy's Mom (2010)
Pain in the ...
So now Ally and her boyfriend are some sort of singer/songwriters? Spare me. Just gets worse and worse. It isn't enough that she is the fourth in a long line of Ally's, but she is nearly the most annoying. The blond one was the most annoying, this one second, Krysten Ritter's version 3rd and the other one was the most bearable. I will also add that the Joy's mom character shows us why Joy is such a torture to watch. At least it all took the focus off of the most annoying part of the show - Eddie. He has got to be one of the most bigoted, cruel, heartless and just plain unlikable characters on TV. Do not waste your time watching this filth.
'Til Death: No Complaints (2009)
Terrible, terrible show
I lost all respect for Brad Garrett with this show, primarily due to seasons 3 and 4. The actress playing the daughter gets changed 4 times, which is really annoying, especially since each incarnation of her is more grating than the last. The main couple has Eddie, who is a giant and a giant jerk, and Joy, who is stupid, mean and full of herself. It gets to the point that both characters are really unbearable. I find it amazing that this show made it 4 seasons when it should have been canned after 2 tops. The best part of the show was the Woodcocks, which we only got in seasons 1 and 2. Once they left it was all downhill, on skis with a rocket tied to its back. Do NOT waste your time.
