The Batman (2022)
7/10
A great cinematic experience
5 March 2022
A great cinematic experience, although with some flaws mostly in narrative and structural sense.

This really feels like a true Batman movie , and Pattinson is a right fit for it.

Every single person involved in making this did exceptional job and poured their hearts in it, but major props should go to the score/cinematography/makeup team.

Like everyone has said before, it is so refreshing to have a 'superhero' genre crafted on this level and looking like real cinema.

Functions really well when it is a procedural thriller, but isn't that interesting when it focuses on its mob subplots... Overall story isnt anything we haven't seen before and doesn't push the genre in any new way, it's just fine for what it is. It also becomes too convoluted towards the end.

3 hour runtime is not entirely earned , but it isn't felt that much due to immersive world.

Pacing loses some steam in the long second act before it picks up again towards the end. And even with this runtime some characters and relations remain underdeveloped (Alfred especially) There aren't many memorable setpieces or scenes.(besides maybe the batmobile chase)

All in all, a very, very good foundation for everything to come in this universe, from spin-offs to full trilogy.

P.s. Colin Farrell really nailed it by totally disappearing in his character with both his acting and mask.

The Last Duel (2021)
6/10
Venice 78 review

Excellent perfomances elevate meandering script which also drags a little and doesn't fully justify its structure. But scenes that work are really impressive, especially the last duel. Jodie Comer is a real standout with a nuanced perfomance that should get a lot of awards attention. All in all a perfectly fine movie but nothing you haven't seen before.

Joker (I) (2019)
10/10
Venice 76 review
1 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I have just watched the Joker in Venice and I will say if Joaquin doesn't get an Oscar this year then something is wrong with this world. This perfomance is just jaw-dropping, it glues you to the screen and doesn't let go till the end. Story is very good and has some interesting connections with Batman lore(especially one you can't guess from trailers). There are some scenes that are so tense ,well-acted and imaginative that push this movie to 10. Cinematography and direction are great, Todd has proven himself as a director. Robert is also good in his "small" role. Will definitely see it again as soon as it out in October.

Very stylistic movie - Venice 76 review
30 August 2019
I have just seen movie at the Venice film festival. A few quick thoughts -great cinematography(Hoyte has done it again) and acting from Brad and Tommy -there are a couple of interesting scenes that I did not really expect in the middle of the movie -sound editing top notch

It is a movie more for the critics and lovers of cinema art , and less for general public wanting some space sci-fi epic. But everyone will find somethig to enjoy in this film and I reccomend to see it !

Great fun at the movies !!!

Warning: Spoilers
I don't remember when I had such fun time at the cinema. This movie is pure blockbuster joy from start to finish. Highlight of the movie is Jake Gyllenhaal and story around Mysterio, espacially that illusion sequence. Connection to Iron Man with one of his workers is also a great easter egg. I like European locations a lot and interactions between students and their professors are a standout. Tom Holland and Zendaya are also good as usual. Definitely recommend!

SEASON 3 review
24 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the best seasons of any tv show ever.Period. Where do I even start? Everything worked this time, from acting, action, screenplay, music ,... It is like a 13-hour movie which should be remembered as a masterpiece. There are no filler episodes, from the beginning to the end the pace just goes up, you learn new secrets and other mysteries are resolved while you dive deep into the Hell's Kitchen. New characters and fascinating , with Bullseye being the standout. His backstory is really well done and made even better by phenomenal acting. Best action scenes in any medium, with highlights being the prison escape, Bulletin fight and church fight. The end is just enough happy and if this season is really the end of the series, I cant imagine a better way to go!
