The Wire (2002–2008)
7/10
Overrated
1 July 2022
I watched The Wire for the first time recently, 1 episode a day for the past 2 months. I didn't think it was that bad, but it was definitely not great either. It's interesting at times, but very slow at other times. It took me a while to get into it... just when I started to get into it in the second half of season 1, season 2 came around. Very different show all of a sudden. I really had to struggle to get through and felt like I wanted to quit. I pushed through, but I really didn't care much about season 2 or its ending. Not too much relevance with the later seasons either imo. Season 3 started slow as well, but improved pretty fast. It turned out to be my favorite season. Finally back to dope dealing in the hood, with some interesting police developments. Season 4 was different again, but was great as well. Season 5 got slow again, although it did have some great moments. Overall, I feel this show is very much overrated. There is just too much slow and boring stuff going on too often. It's bot bad, but I have seen way better series than this. It's not because I am watching this for the first after its release 20 years ago. This show is pretty timeless and could have easily been shot more recently, I never felt it was old or outdated. It was just too slow for my taste. I will say it's better than Sopranos though, which I think was / is also vastly overrated. More interesting stuff going on here than in that show.

Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
Season 1, Episode 10

Wow... disappointed in last final minutes
11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was really loving this new season of Dexter New Blood. I think every episode was great, good build-up, increasing tension and interesting storyline as the season progressed. I even liked the final episode for the most part. I read many reviewers here are pissed about Dexter killing Logan and that it all went wrong from there, I didn't think too much of it. Sure, it was not a 'code kill' but it's not like that never happened before in the previous Dexter seasons. Google for Dexter's kill list, there have been many other kills before in previous seasons that didn't fit the code either. Nothing new. What bothered me though was the final scene with Harrison. Everything was fine, they were going to run off together and then Harrison goes mental about Dexter killing Logan? So he values Logan higher than his own father who he had just started building a real connection with? He wants to be normal and have a normal life and he think he can achieve that by killing his own father? A man he shares a lot with and who is last living family member? Come on... he will still be all alone and on the run now, having to deal with his dark passenger alone... would have been better off together with this dad, who was way more experienced in this. Such a disappointing ending... it could have been so much better. I don't really mind that they had to kill Dexter either, so they could end the show for good... but not in this way. Should have been Batista or his girlfriend who shot him after some huge climatic buildup... such a disappointing ending...

I am speechless
25 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The first Matrix is in my top 2 favorite movies of all time... I am a huge fan and must have seen the first Matrix over a 30 times. Words just can't describe what I am feeling after just seeing the Matrix 4. This movie is wrong on so many levels, I don't even know where to begin. I think I am not even going to try and bother either... I think I'll just want to forget about this movie as fast as possible.... I will admit though, I did like the resurrection scene, where the machines were putting Neo back together. Maybe they actually could have pulled it off and build a good sequel based upon this theme.... This movie failed horribly in it though. I am going to be rewatching the first Matrix tomorrow again... to wash this crap from my eyes...

My favorite movie of the 2010's
15 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What can I say. This is such a great movie. I remember seeing this for the first time, not really knowing what it was about. Straight from the first scene, it immediately put a smile on my face, which lasted about for the rest of the entire movie. Great entertainment, I love over the top movies like this. I haven't seen something this good since Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I have seen it about 4 times again since it came out and I just keep loving it. The only downside was maybe the scene with the ludes and the Lamborghini. Even though it was great, maybe it was a bit too much over the top :)

Ok, but not great.
10 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I watched all 3 seasons these past weeks. It's an ok series, but there are better series you could watch instead. You can watch this when you have seen all the higher rated series and have nothing better left to watch. Personally, I think are too many characters in this show, most of whom are not too interesting. Sometimes the characters are not quite believable either. Bryan Cranston for example as the powerful New York gangster in S1 was a bit hard to believe. He appeared way to soft to be taken seriously imo. Go watch Power Or Sopranos if you want to see some more believable NY gangsters. His performance in the final episode of season 1 was great though. The black girl betrays Marius at the end of S1, causing him to deal with all of the bad guys in season 2. Still, he decides to work with her later on in season 2? Kind of annoying stuff imo. Also lots of situations that could have easily been solved with some guns, instead of setting up difficult cons to get out of a situation, but I guess that's just the nature of this show. The final two episodes of every season are pretty good, but the build-up to the final episodes are a bit long, stretched and often a bit boring imo. Most people here don't like season 3 that much, I didn't think it was that bad. I liked the change of scenery to New York and California. Lot's of small cons happening as well during S3 episodes, introducing more interesting characters as well, making it better than season 1 and 2 imo. Overall, decent show, but I have seen many better ones.

Used to be good, now it's a chick series
20 September 2020
Used to fun and interesting in the past seasons with Lucifer in the lead and interesting mythological storytelling about heaven and hell. In season 5, it's just the female support characters getting way to much screentime with endless blabla over feelings, emotions, babies and lots of other crap you really don't care about. The Chloe character looks pretty burned out this season. Boring to watch, I am grinding through it.

Power: Exactly How We Planned (2020)
Season 6, Episode 15

Could have been worse
30 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not the best ending, but I have seen worse. The ending for Tasha was quite satisfying. Tariq was really, really annoying. Spoiled want to be gangster, who starts crying when he could possibly go to jail and his father doesn't want to help him out anymore. I kept hoping Ghost would knock him out hard or that Tommy would show up in the end to throw him from a roof after all. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, so I am only giving this 6 out of 10. Besides Tariq being annoying, it wasn't such a bad episode. If you want to see a real bad series finale, go watch Dexter.

Power: He Always Wins (2020)
Season 6, Episode 12

Not interesting
28 July 2020
I have started watching all six seasons of Power since the beginning of this month. It's really a good show and I quite like it. Up until now, there wasn't a single episode I didn't like. Maybe some annoying scenes sometimes, but overall it's quite good. This episode is really bad though. Not an interesting character, you already know how the plot is going to end. Just a waste of time and energy. Still, it doesn't affect my overall view of Power. Great series that I will definitely watch again sometime in the future. I'll just make sure to skip this episode by then. Even Breaking Bad had one worthless episode about a fly. Doesn't make it a bad series either. Just forget about this episode and watch and enjoy the rest.

The Walking Dead (2010–2022)

Long past its prime
16 February 2020
Personally, I quit this show a long time ago. S1-S3 were good, S4 was just boring walking in the woods. S5 got a little bit of my interest back, although it was still very slow at times. I gave up somewhere in S6, not caring about any of the characters anymore at all, and for the lack of overall plot. The story just never went anywhere. Just walking from A to B, killing zombies in between, continue walking to C, etc. I still check sometimes to see if it has finally ended or if they are still milking this show. I see Rick has finally quit though, good for him. Pretty amazing there is yet another season coming without him. For those of you still watching, good luck grinding through this.

I'll treat this one as all the other ones after T2: Non-existent
18 January 2020
As Terminator 2 is my favorite movie of all time, I naturally had to see this one as well. Even though I already knew nothing good was to be expected looking at the trailers and the fact Arnie is past 70 and Hamilton is over 60. So I went in with very low expectations, expecting it to suck. And it sucked indeed. Political correctness, female power, immigrant power, it was all annoying the hell out of me. Sarah Connor was also annoying and Arnold's character was a joke. Not a funny one either I might add. The good old days of T2 are definitely long gone. Still, it was kind of nice to see the T800 in action again in upgraded CGI. I liked the action scenes when Arnie got included again in the second half of the movie. I didn't care much for the first part though, as I didn't care or relate to any of the other characters, including Sarah Connor. I didn't care at all if that Dani or Grace character got hurt or threatened, as I couldn't take them seriously. I'll treat this movie as all the other ones after T2: a one time watch, never to be watched again and non-existent going forward.

Painful
11 January 2020
I really liked Jay & Silent Bob, the Kevin Smith movies and all the crossovers back in the day. Mall Rats, Clerks I & II, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob strike back, Zack & Miri make a porno. Good stuff, I still watch those movies from time to time and really enjoy them. Great nostalgia that brings me back to happier times. But that was then and this is now. Age hasn't been kind to these actors and characters. It's actually quite sad to see these guys 20 years later in their 50ties, looking old, still making the same jokes, rehearsing the same lines. It's painful to watch and just not funny anymore. Stick to the classics if you have watched them at the time and pretend this curd was never created.

Not all great
1 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching this show a few months ago. I almost gave up in Season 1, as I didn't think it was too interesting in the first half. Just boring, too much useless conversations, no action, not much interesting settings. I am glad I pushed through though, because S2 and S3 were great. Lots of space action, interesting stories, nice CGI. Started watching S4 a few days ago and currently watching S4E6, but what a let down is this again. We're on a planet with 1.5 billion year old alien structures, which is interesting, but the first 5 eps are all about Belter squatters on the alien planet, who no one cares about (At least I don't). No space, no action, very boring setting in the squatter camp and nothing really interesting going on until the end of episode 5. This season so far feels like a season to balance to books. It looks like it didn't cost as much to make as S2 and S3, but it probably is bringing in a lot more because the series is now better known. Large profits for sure. Hopefully they'll use that money to make season 5 great again.

Fringe (2008–2013)

Good, not great
21 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Fringe is quite a good series imo, great for binge watching. The cast is very good and the stories are interesting and unique. I am not sure if I like it better than X-Files or Supernatural, but it's definitely up there. I love the main story episodes about Peter, Walter, 1985, William Bell, the war between universes, the observers, etc. The thing I don't like about this series however, is that those main episodes are so good, you don't want them to end. Instead however, you have to grind through a lot of standalone episodes in between. Those standalone episodes aren't bad, but compared to the main episodes, they are not great either. I'll give a 10/10 for the main episodes and a 7/10 for the standalone episodes. As there are a lot more standalone episodes, I'll average it down to an 8. Overall, a good series, but because of those filler standalone episodes, not great.

Not bad, not great.
12 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's nice to see some of the BB characters and some of the nostalgia again. However, this movie isn't as spectacular as the old series was. It's more of a round up to provide a good ending for Jesse's storyline. It's not bad, but it feels a bit dragged out. The only thing bothering me about this movie is the ending. Jesse is going to survive the rest of his life on 250k? Seems a bit off to me. Walt did it a lot better with his barrel of 10 million.

Supernatural (2005–2020)

Only show I know that's still great after 12 seasons
8 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I just wanted to share that I really like Supernatural. It's a great show with very interesting characters, great stories, great chemistry, good action, cool weapons, great car, great lines. Before this, I used to love X-files, which is somewhat similar, but Supernatural is better in certain areas. What I like better about Supernatural is that as the story develops, it doesn't raise more questions as you continue watching. This is what always frustrated me about the X-Files, but in Supernatural, things usually become clear after a few episodes. I don't want to spoil it too much, but if you're reading this and haven't watched Supernatural yet, go on and give it try. I just finished the mid season finale of S13 and this show is still great. You'll be not be disappointed if you're into action, mystery, life after death, ghosts, demons, etc. I highly recommend it. For me personally, it's in my top 5 of all time favorite series, along with X-Files, 24, Person of Interest and Breaking Bad.

Ozark (2017–2022)

Great pilot, boring afterwards
21 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Heard a lot of great things about this show, so I started with high expectations. The first episode was pretty good. Great settings, interesting dialogue, nice action. The Mexican dude was pretty cool. Usually when I like a first episode, it turns out to be a great series for me. Ozark however may the first series where this is not the case. The whole lake setting just doesn't work for me. Nothing really happens there and the locals are not very interesting either. There are way too many dumb, boring, uninteresting characters, getting too much scenes about nothing. Then there is too much gay men crap no one really wants to see either. I am currently half season and I am really struggling to keep watching. I will finish it, since it is only 5 more episodes, but so far this really isn't what I was hoping or expecting.
