Locusts (2005 TV Movie)

Rooting for the Locusts!!
24 April 2005
Oh my, oh my, oh my. Awful doesn't even begin to describe this moronic waste of time. This movie is really just an incessant cell phone ringing and someone picking it up looking harried and worried. Yet another reason to hate technology--infesting the movies now with cell phones to eat up the scenery. Wow, kept me riveted! This blech of a movie is pathetic and I'm a huge fan of science fiction. This doesn't exactly harken back to the good old sci-fi/B movies of the past--it is insulting and a grind to watch. I was hoping the locusts would eat everyone and start with the people with cell phones parked at their heads.

awful, awful, and yes, you guessed it....awful
7 March 2005
I rewatched this film tonight and was absolutely appalled at how bad it was. What was bad was not the acting; what was bad was not the storyline--it was every contrivance possible put in here to make this girl as stupid as a goat. These ridiculous contrivances were annoying and belittling and insulting. There are so many missteps in this movie that it becomes a game at some point to count them. There is no way to point out them all. If one likes this kind of game while watching a movie, then this one is heaven on earth for you. I don't know that an intelligent review can be given of this movie, because it's clearly aimed at an IQ of 32. Some movies are so bad, they're worth watching--this is one of those movies. Oh and this movie continues that oh-so-sickening trend of giving Julia Roberts a slow motion guffaw with those 98 teeth a'gleamin'. That just never gets old, does it? Eek!

great movie--bad Southern accents
19 February 2005
This is a terrific movie; rich characters, rich story and almost identical to the book. However, the Southern accents in this movie are the worst I've ever heard and that genuinely takes away from the movie an amazing amount. The accents are absolutely obscene, which is too bad. American actors not from the South almost always get them wrong and British actors do so much better at the Southern accent. Maybe some linguist can explain this phenomenon. The attempts in this movie are pitiful, especially the laughable attempt by David Morse, who I usually think is great. The dialogue coach for Southern accents needs to be fired and quickly.

terrific, underrated movie
29 November 2004
This is a wonderful movie with a fun, clever story and the dynamics of culture differences and the running theme of what's important in life make this a very under-appreciated movie. Don't let the cynics of the world deter you from seeing this. Keaton has wonderful moments and I wonder at the fact that comedy is never appreciated, because actors like Keaton make going from humor to serious bits look tremendously easy. Great movie all around!

bad news
24 November 2004
This movie was bad history and bad acting and was almost rotten enough to be entertaining, but didn't quite cross that line. That line would have been welcome, because this thing hovered on pathetic. I don't quite understand the myriad of accents and there should have been some consistency there--quite irritating. Alexander came off as a bit of a fop and whether true or not, not a very appealing character and played awfully badly by Farrell, who I'm still trying to grasp the appeal of as he looks like he smells to high heaven. If you like epics, you'll be sorely disappointed here unless you require bad acting in your epics and then, of course, you're sure to be delighted!

Armageddon (1998)
pro-American movie; anti-American everything else
13 November 2004
The comments on this board are pathetic. Having watched this movie recently, I can honestly say that maybe we (the United States) shouldn't have tried to save the world--maybe save the United States only. The anti-Americanism on these boards that I easily explain as envy is so pathetic that I wonder if these boards are a forum to review movies or are simply a medium for anyone anti-American to get their two cents' worth of crap spewed out of their vile mouths. How about analyzing the movies people and get a hold on that hatred you have for us, because surely it is just growing tumors in your body somewhere. Here's hoping good wins out in the world, because the lines are being drawn everywhere these days, even in a place where people talk about movies.
