Shadow and Bone (2021)
The lousy acting is making it hard to get thru, looking at you Elena.
I'm sorry, but the actor who plays Elena is one of the worst actors to ever be cast in a leading role I mean I've seen lousy actors cast in leading roles, but they're usually at least hot AF, which she is 100% not no she is plain AF and a below average actor so I'm not sure what the hell was going on here? She is the reason for at least three star deduction, and then the rest of the actors are also CW status. Basically, I only like the main bad guy who played Prince Caspian in his younger years and the crew from the six of crows part of the story.
Oh, except for whoever is playing what's his name who Nina is into (she is great... although in the book, she is dropdead gorgeous to the point no man can resist her feminine wiles. However, in Netflixland plain and average is the new exotic because she is also nothing special to look at despite I think nailing the curvy body type her character was written as.....and thank you for not making her an obese pig Netflix I'm sure you wanted to tho).
But anyways, I mean for obvious reasons they may have chosen this guy I don't wanna spoil anything but at the same time yikes he's even worse than the main chick I mean he's fun to look at but yikes, like I don't even think it's guys ever actually said a line on camera until this show camera before because he is bad. But hey, unlike what's her face, at least he's fun to look at!
Human Resources (2022)
I think the high ratings are fake
Now hear me out. I don't care one way or the other how well the show does. But I really suspect that the high ratings are either done by fake reviewer's by people who haven't actually watched the show or it's people who have watched the show but want to support the show because they like to watch cartoons simulated sex ...because they are boys under the age of 13.
I say this because I actually really like the show this is a spin off of. And I actually thought it was a really good idea and I was excited to watch the season but I honestly had to give up by episode three. It just never got funny and it really turned into a bunch of weird u funny sex stuff . I thought each character represented a different aspect of humanity? But everything is just raunchy sex. I'm sorry what was the point of showing us the humanoid shame monsters mom having sex with the depression kitty? How is that relevant to anything? How is that even funny? It was Unnecessary. They just wanted to show a cat and a human having different kinds of weird sex. The other show is actually funny and relatable.
This has neither of those qualities. It's basically a giant monster orgy it's an excuse to look at cartoon porn. There are way too many characters and I don't like any of them not even the main characters from the other show. So as somebody who supports the original show and gets the humor and thought it was funny and relevant and even somewhat intelligent, I find this to be garbage. It's like the creators let their horny 12-year-old sons write it. I just do not get how anybody else thinks this is good or comparable to the original show?
In from the Cold (2022)
It was meh
I would have rated it higher if they had drastically reduced the amount of screen time both her annoying and weird looking daughter received as well the flashbacks. Also how weird was it that we had to see gross fake sex stuff btw Jenny and what's his name the main Spanish head honcho as well as some pathetic attempt at YA fake lesbian rug burns, but then we get a G rated cut to "fast asleep after presumes sex" when it came to Jenny and the main dude? I don't particularly enjoy watching actor simulate sex but it was still weird .
My biggest issue and maybe I missed it while periodically looking at my phone during the entire series, but how the F was Gidian able to hypnotize people with a song and a watch?????? Was the a wizardry school in Siberia?? I can suspend my disbelief as far as shape shifting even though everything about it was just ridiculous but someone explain the song and watch BS because I missed that little tidbit of info.
Oh and as far as the ending. I was actually surprised to find out who her handler was. I honestly didn't expect that. But the last scene? Yeah the writers have no idea how they're gonna make that work lol. That was so obviously a "Hail Mary we hope this big cliffhanger gets us a second season", because that makes literally NO sense. It's basically what the writer did on Blacklist. They kept stringing us along thinking there was some huge secret that they totally have planned to divulge in due time when....no, actually they were just kicking the can and hoping something would come to them.
If they got a second season I would still watch it because the stunts were good and who doesn't like a mutant with superpowers but if not, no big loss.
Everly (2014)
There's a very good reason why you haven't heard of this really really dumb movie
Look, we were all for some shoot ''em up, fun to watch, ridiculous action flick but this was in fact crappy. We were expecting hookers and ninjas but all the pointless hookers die in like the first five minutes of the movie and the rest is watching Selma and her cleavage dragging herself around an apartment and shooting people. Sometimes she's tough and sometimes she's just like whining and moaning? And then they try to add some drama with her mom and her random little girl like anybody cares. I think it one point Selma explains what happened to her I honestly missed it I was looking at my phone because I couldn't care less at that point I think she was kidnapped and made into a sex slave or something I don't know. This movie was completely disjointed and random in the worst king of boring way. I wouldn't even say it was ridiculous. I'm OK with ridiculous. This movie is stupid and stupid is annoying. I truly believe that anybody who gave this more than five stars did it just because they love Selma and anybody who gave it anything over 7 stars absolutely is or is friends with the cast and crew. Without a doubt. 100% also can I just say I've always hated to hear Salma Hayek use the F word it's just the most annoying thing ever. It gets three stars because parts of it were nice to look at. Salma Hayek looked gorgeous. She must've been about 49 when she shot this maybe 48. I just turned 40 and I wish I looked that amazing (of course that's her job and she's like a billionaire so big deal. Anyways it was something to look at before we went to bed on a Tuesday and at least my boyfriend got to watch Selma's booby cleavage for 1.5 hours. Yay.
Sense and Sensibility (1995)
It was just too hard for me to get over Elinors old age
Dude it's one thing to suspend some age discrepancy belief but come on Eleanor is supposed to be 19 I hate how some of these writers directors what ever feel the need to play main characters when they were so clearly too old for the role. Emma Thompson was literally closer in age to play the mother ( Emma was 36 and the mother was supposed to be 40) so instead what they did they made the mother look like she supposed to be I don't know 60? And here's a thing it's one thing if you're an actress and you look younger than you are I know when I was 35 I did look like I was still in my mid 20s..... but Emma looks like she could play 45 before she plays a 25 LET ALONE A 19 year old. And as much as I love Rickman, he is supposed to be 35!!!!! I guess they maybe made everybody super old looking in order to justify Emma Thompson playing a 19-year-old? I don't know, but in that case Kate Winslet should've been played by somebody who was also in their 30s. So for this annoying reason I'm not gonna give this movie a good rating I hate it when they cast for the sake of big Hollywood stars instead of casting people who would play the characters correctly. The 1995 version was better about ages but also not great.
Dave Chappelle: The Closer (2021)
You guys, he dedicated his closing Netflix special to Norm :'(
This was an excellent final show. Dave Chapelle is the king what more can be said? Just like all of his shows he learn you laugh and you cry. At least the spirit of Norm McDonald lives on and Dave Chapelle and other true real human beings/comedians.
I can't believe (jk I can't totally believe) that people still found a reason to attack Chapelle and call him a trans phobic. Dave Chapelle is a human who cares about individual people not whatever team they belong to or politics they ascribe to. He cares about the smallest minority group that exists: The individual. All these mindless WOKE freaks feeling so good about themselves by ganging up on Chapelle while they do nothing to actually help people, quite the opposite actually (what, you think their visceral Twitter bullying against Daphne had nothing to do with her giving up on life? Please.) Meanwhile Dave Chapelle tried to help this mediocre trans woman's stand up career out of the goodness of his non judgmental huge heart. Still he gets attacked and still he continues to help setting up a trust fun for her daughter. Yeah, he is definitely a horrible person.
Sticks and stones though beahtches.
STICKS AND STONES!
A Tale Dark & Grimm (2021)
Yeah but children actually aren't smarter than their parents
I was debating between a six and a seven star rating I gave it seven stars because it was funny for adults I guess it was gory but I don't think the subject matter or the gore was anything that I didn't grow up watching. I mean Disney animation can be pretty messed up and gory without being overtly gory and traumatizing at least this was all done tongue and cheek and whenever cartoons or shows show you with some sort of afterlife in this case hell death is never really that much of a traumatic subject in my opinion.
The reason I didn't give it a higher rating it was because I really disliked how the foolish, immature, helpless, inept...just basically all around lousy human beings the king and queen a.k.a. Hantzel and Gretel's parents were. I checked the book out through the library while watching this so I'd like to see what the actual story did but in my opinion kids these days seem to think that they know more than their parents thanks to the brainwashing they go through at school with their professors telling them what to tell their parents and how stupid their parents are if they don't tote the same line the public school system is brainwashing their kids into regurgitating. I mean don't get me wrong kids always think they know more than their parents but that usually happens later in life telling small children that they are as capable if not Way more capable then their parents is not the smartest idea unless their parents are truly awful human beings and these two characters were not awful human beings they were just parents trying to do the best they could do.
Now had the message been that it was important to trust your children rather than just dismissing them as dumb kids who don't need to know anything then maybe I could've gotten behind that but this was basically telling kids that they were smarter and more capable in life than their dim witted cowardly parents and I don't think that's a good message to put out. In most cases parents do know best and kids almost never do because they are freaking annoying kids who haven't been alive for more than a decade and only been speaking in coherent sentences for like five or six of those years, hell they can barely remember 5 of those years! Grimm fairytales Were told to basically scare kids straight. They wanted children to beware of evil and to always mind their parents the storytellers decided to do the opposite basically don't trust adults because they're all weird and kind of dumb.
Again unless we're talking about truly awful adult behavior there's no good reason to send a message to children that just because they don't understand the actions taken by a parent/adult that they have the right to rebel or run away. And no, they don't have a right to literally start acting like they are the grownup.
The writer here made the parents out to be foppish morons who literally handed over there crowns to their children I mean give me a break. Um, have these guys even met children? They do not know best, they don't know much of anything actually and most importantly, they are all very very annoying.
Still this was funny enough and engaging enough that I binge watched it in one sitting so I'll leave my rating at 7 stars.
Cats (2019)
Wow this cost 100 million $ y'all
Tom Hooper needs to stop.
There needs to be a Gofund me page or something to ensure he never directs another musical. I think he is to musicals as the author of Pride Prejudice and Zombies is to classics. Like he secretly hates them and wants to ruin them for everyone else or maybe out an end to them by traumatizing kids at an early age.
August: Osage County (2013)
Please ignore anything above a 3 star review
"Wtf" was what I said out loud after I sped through this ghastly awful crap. There was no point to this, unless you enjoy listening to Streep yell and moan and monologue. I guess she wanted to show everyone she can play a crazy white trash miserable POS.... with cancer.
This film was just gross, pointless, uninspiring, depressing and obnoxious to have to listen to. Every one of those actors should be embarrassed for taking this job.
And for everyone who raved about it, you are what's wrong with society. Trying to pretend that the rest of us didn't "get it" and that this was life and raw and "brilliantly performed". You people are the type who would pay $100,000 for a "statue" of a toilet filled with excrement and call it "art". This movie was made by and for people like you: pseudo- intellectual imbeciles.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Season 1 was the only season worth watching
Season 1 was funny and really fun to watch but then this show gets all teen drama and boring. We couldn't make it past 5 episodes into season 2. I can't believe this show was renewed for a fourth season. As far as Characters:
Loved the blond main character (I can't remember his name) and Miguel and his mom but the actor who plays the blond guys son is painful to watch. The daughter is boring AF. Hawk started out so sweet then you root for him and his new identity...... then they make him out to be a psycho. Why?? Russos daughters ex bestie was also great. Russo is probably on par with the son of the main actor (blond dude) as far as awful acting goes. I mean my god, what a horrible actor and that kid and his dumb blank stare that he thinks makes him come off , as I don't know.... pensive? He literally looks like a caveboy confused at the strange workings of the world in every scene he is in. Russo should be handing half his paycheck to his costar because that show is literally carried by him. He is great and I hope he goes onto something worth his talent. Also, did they make him shave his beard because he looked to young and handsome compared to his goofy weird looking dork of a costar? I'm not trying to be mean, I'm genuinely just curious.
The Blacklist: Hannah Hayes (No. 125) (2019)
This is a rant with typos...
WHO WROTE THIS???
Really? The bad guys grab the courier and not Katarina who's tiny old feeble arms manage to snap the neck of the giant russian she can barely wrap said chicken arms around??!
Also, I'm sick of looking at this unlikable old lady Katarina (don't care how you spell it). Also, No one wants to watch Liz's kid or any other child for that matter. This was a Pointless weird twilight zone type of episode of a crazy rape victim who because she kept forgetting that she wanted to terminate her rape baby until she was in her 3 rd term and was then not legally able to, goes on a rampage of torture and surgical rape. Who cares what happens to those babies if they even survive the experiment though, as long as her protest was made! And why wouldn't the first guy tell people about this psycho? And why did Ressler and Samir (spelling) stand there while she had a gun pointed at that crazy chick and wait until she finally shot the rape at before they were like " ok seriously put the gun down now!" This was a train wreck and the series needs to either get back on track or end.
Lucifer: A Devil of My Word (2018)
#saveLucifer
Yes season 3 got off track but to cancel this show to basically replace it with a tired doctor drama is disgusting. This episode was amazing with Lucifer with wings blazing and kicking butt plus his shocking reveal to Chloe!!!! I had hoped this episode was going to set the feel for season 4! Cancelled?!!! How about order fewer episodes FOX? Please pick up Lucifer Netflix! How great would it be to get to watch this show if it were to stream, freedom to do and say a lot more.
