Hey, my name is Michael, I was born on July 10, 1984 and I have been a big movie fan all my life!
WHAT MAKES A MOVIE GREAT?: Every scene needs to be looked at in two different ways. One way is what the scene is about and the other way is how the scene is filmed. I think a great movie is when the story keeps moving along and the film making doesn't look aged.
WHAT MAKES A MOVIE MY FAVORITE: When I feel it's perfect on all levels of filmmaking.
REASONS WHY IT MATTERS WHAT YOU SEE:
1. Nobody knew what a movie was when they first saw a movie and they enjoyed it because it was filled with images they've never seen before. Then over the years, they lost the memories and didn't gain much knowledge since they started judging movies over what year it came out or what the genre is and all of the above have good movies and bad movies. So keep the memories from when you first saw a movie and gain the knowledge at the same time. That way it's a win-win situation.
2. You will never get your time back no matter what movie you see.
3. There's thousands of movies made and you won't see every one.
4. The winning team, in terms of movies, are not the majority. It's the one that paid the most attention.
I watch movies from nearly every genre: Action, Adventure, Animation, Biography, Comedy, Crime, Documentary, Drama, Family, Fantasy, Film-Noir, Foreign Films, Gangster, Horror, Martial Arts, Musical, Natural Disaster, Romance, Samurai, Science Fiction, Silent Movies, Sports, Spy Movies, Superhero movies, Suspense, War, Western
I ENJOYED EVERY MOVIE FROM THE FOLLOWING SERIES':
All three BATMAN/DARK KNIGHT's
All three GODFATHER's
All four LETHAL WEAPON's
All three LORD OF THE RINGS
All six MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE's
All five RAMBO's
All three THREE COLORS TRILOGY
All four TOY STORY's

Grumpy Old Men (1993)
Pretty funny comedy.
Two next door neighbors (Matthau and Lemmon) have been fighting for no reason for years. Now, after those years passed by, a new woman who is a widow (Ann-Margaret), lives next door. Now, they finally have a reason to fight in this funny movie. To be perfectly honest, there were some scenes that have its ups and downs. Matthau and Lemmon enjoy working together since the 60s and 70s. All I can say is that if you don't remember seeing a movie with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, then you will definitely laugh once you see this. If you've seen a movie with Matthau and Lemmon, then you might not laugh that hard.
What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)
Johnny Depp stars in this interesting dramatic movie.
Johnny Depp plays Gilbert Grape and is worried because a lot of stuff is bothering him, which mainly is why it's called What's Eating Gilbert Grape from his problems going on; such as, his brother, who's brain doesn't quite work right and Leonardo Dicaprio plays him. He's a very good actor and I really don't believe why he just didn't get an Academy Award in this film. Another thing that's bothering Gilbert is he's worried about his mom since she gets made fun of because she's pretty fat. Other than that, Gilbert really wishes to be a better person. What's Eating Gilbert Grape is based on a book.
What About Bob? (1991)
What a laugh, don't you think?
This funny comedy stars Saturday Night Live's Bill Murray and Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss. Bill Murray plays Bob Wiley, who has major, big problems and Dr. Leo Marvin, played by Richard Dreyfuss, tries to help this out of control man who has every excuse that he could think of when he hears that Leo is going on vacation with his family. Bob Wiley visits there and soon becomes part of the family since everybody in the family except for Leo likes him. Leo thinks that they care about him more than they normally would care about their dad. After that happens, everything starts to explode.
Rock-A-Doodle (1991)
A worthless family movie that even has a crummy title.
Rock A Doodle is about a kid who loves to read the chapters of his favorite book of the same title. The book is about a rooster who has to hawk so the sunshine won't go away. One day, he had to defeat an owl, who is the main boss that won a fight and as he does, that means it will never show the sun out again since the rooster forgot to crow. The whole idea about the title is that the rooster became like Elvis is in a way. Meanwhile, one of the evil birds in the book came out of the pages of the little kid's favorite book and turned him into a cat. As he is, he and his other animated friends in the book try to find the singer and save the town.
Batman Returns (1992)
Tim Burton should be fired since he made the film.
In fact, the movie is not only not worth seeing, but also has no story to it and completely makes no sense at all. The closest I could get for telling you what the movie is about, is by saying that once again, Batman (Michael Keaton) battles the new villain named Penguin (Danny DeVito). The penguin wants to be Mayor of Gotham City in the worst way possible. Another thing about the movie is that Catwoman (Michelle Pfieffer) is Penguin's assistant, making out of control looking violence that are the worst violence and action I've ever seen. In fact, this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life.
Howard the Duck (1986)
A comedy that really shouldn't be made in the first place.
In fact, Howard the Duck doesn't even act like the writer or director really wants an Academy Award. It's about a duck named Howard who lives in space and is the most popular duck in the planet. After the duck came home one day, suddenly, out of nowhere, there's an earthquake that had only entered his room and nothing else. He blasts out of space and into the real world. When he first enters the world, it's already a disaster to begin with. The first thing was that he was beaten up by two mean punks. Then, after he met a woman (Lea Thompson), they end up trusting each other until the next day's disaster. Just like this movie.
Dennis the Menace (1993)
Popular T.V. series that's funny for the family.
Dennis the Menace stars in the not animated, but actually real life big screen family movie about, like always, Dennis Mitchell, who tries to get along with Mr. Wilson, who lives next door (played by old-time star Walter Matthau). Meanwhile, a robber named Switchblade Sam (Christopher Lloyd) tries to steal stuff from the block, which was the thing I did not about the movie, since I heard kids in the theater saying that they're scared. Dennis runs into the villain close to the end of the film. That's when it acts like another Home Alone film without Dennis noticing it really is Switchblade Sam.
RoboCop 2 (1990)
Nothing worked at all.
This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Nothing in the movie was exciting or enjoyable. Robocop didn't do much throughout the movie. He mostly had an identity crisis with the computer chip in his brain making him forget how to be a cop and not know how to arrest someone or know when to fire his gun. The opening is already a problem since it opens with someone getting electrocuted inside a car after trying to steal it. The scene is handled so strangely. Also, the lead villain is a 11 or 12 year old kid who acts like he's much older. He's violent and profane and doesn't make sense for him to be the age he is.
Planet of the Apes (1968)
I rewatched the original Planet of the Apes and while I still like it, I don't love it.
Some of the pacing drags more than I remembered and the mouth movements of some of the makeup looked difficult for the actors to read the lines as apes. Sometimes, the makeup looked perfect with terrific mouth movements and body language. The characters Zira and Cornelius were just right, but some of the mouth movements for the orangutans didn't move naturally and looked stiff with re-recorded audio for some of the lines. Their mouths didn't open as smoothly. The action scenes are still good and so is the production design. I also like the main storyline. The opening in outer space is aged with bluescreen backgrounds, but most of the story and personalities of the characters hold up well. The final scene is still legendary.
Super Mario Bros. (1993)
It was a waste to make it in the first place.
It is interesting that they would make a movie of Mario Brothers. Two plumbers, Mario and Luigi, meet a girl named Daisy and as the brothers help out, since there's a flood in her place, Mario, Luigi and Daisy get sucked inside a different dimension. Then, they meet the disgusting slob King Koopa that surprisingly is played by Dennis Hopper, which really surprised me that he was in a movie such as this. Mainly, it doesn't have a good story to it, to tell you the truth. Since this is based on the Nintendo game, Mario Brothers fans, what are you going to tell your parents once you see this film?
The Cable Guy (1996)
I wanted to like it, but it doesn't add up.
The movie wants to be a dark comedy and already that's tough because I can't tell if some of the scenes are intended to be funny. An example is the Medeval Times battle with Chip and Steven. Was it funny how cruel Chip was acting? There were some laughs at first when they go to the Information Super Highway or play basketball and some witty bits involving a trial on tv that seems like an important twist to the story, but no payoff. The Cable Guy character isn't well written. How did Steven call him after we find out who he is towards the end? What happened with the trial since the button to the Satellite went out all over town? How does Chip have a living once we learn more about him and that he has no place to live except in his van? How does he even pay for gas? The audience is left with no results to various parts of the story and there's no real reward for the Cable Guy as a character at the end as he remains the same as the start.
The Sandlot (1993)
Fun family movie.
A kid named Scott Smalls tries to meet friends. As he moves in, he meets a kid named Benny Rodriguez and after he meets Benny's longtime friends, they play baseball like the rest of the gang were doing for years. Every day they play baseball, the group has some sort of an adventure. This adventure made everything change for the rest of their life: Next door to the sandlot, there is a house that had what they called "The Beast". Scott stole a ball from his step dad's collection that was signed by Babe Ruth. It accidentally went over the house and they all tried to get the ball out of there the best way they can.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Nightmare Before Christmas is only created and produced by Tim Burton.
Tim Burton's movie is about a skeleton that lives in a place called Halloween Town, which is mainly a place where only people from that holiday live at. Meanwhile, the king of Halloween Town named Jack Skellington is bored of his only holiday after all those years and wanders around with his pet ghost dog Zero and as they find a place called Christmas Town that really surprises Jack, he accidentally falls there then develops a whole new world of joy when he now tries to take over Christmas, but not in a bad way. As he's doing what is wrong, his girlfriend Sally tries to cheer him up, although, when he tries to fix toys with his crew, his crew turns them into freaky toys.
Ri¢hie Ri¢h (1994)
In the middle of the movie, it kind of gets out of hand.
Based on the comic book character in Archie, a family with the last name Rich have a son and years later, the now grown up boy, Richie Rich had everything a boy could want except he didn't have what he wanted the most, which was friends. After meeting some friends, they have an adventure to save Richie's family. His parents have been kidnapped and together, they try to save his house, mostly from bad guys who are after the Rich Family Vault. Meanwhile, since he knows all the stuff and tools in the house, his friends and Richie try to go against the main villain that's behind all this before he ends up with the money that is altogether seventy billion dollars.
An American Tail (1986)
Nothing that kids would want to look forward to.
A young Russian mouse named Fivel gets separated accidentally by his family. After he and his family are worried for each other, Fivel tries to find his family. Fivel was lost when he and his family were boarding to go to America. Fivel wanted to see a fish and he lied to his dad that he had to get his hat. Fivel then tries to find his family. The first half of An American Tail had scenes of mostly cats chasing mice. Even a mouse getting separated could get the very young worried, too. Luckily, after the bad news is over with, the movie quickly turned out to be better than I expected it to be.
All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989)
Director Don Bluth has to show something that's not good to talk about.
An animated story about an uncaring and disgusting looking mutt, which could remind us of Rover Dangerfield. A young girl, who's adopted meets a dog who returned from Heaven to see if he could do something special for her. All Dogs Go To Heaven has an inappropriate misunderstanding because kids are gambling in the movie. Also, some of the songs aren't that great, too. With only the animation being the wisest idea concerning All Dogs Go To Heaven, this movie just shouldn't deal with something that kids aren't allowed to do. If you're thinking of the dogs gambling, you are wrong. The issue here is that kids shouldn't gamble.
Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994)
Police Academy movies were as dumb as they seem to be.
Now, the boys in blue go to Moscow to save the day when a rich man tries to take over Russia's most famous game titled: The Game. He then calls it: The New Game. Police Academy's very first straight to video filck. The gang seems wiser than before because everybody else appears to be dumber than they are. The gang is even losing lots of their buddies from other Police Academy movies. Actor Michael Winslow's sound effects are getting too boring. Don't worry, the title designs are better than before. Not even the dearest Police Academy fans would want to watch this movie because of how boring it is.
Tall Tale (1995)
This barely has any of its "tall tale" exaggerations.
Actor Stahl (famous for his extremely better performance in The Man Without a Face) appears to have hard times with his dad. They don't get along easily and they could only settle down when his father talks about his favorite "tall tale" characters while fishing. It appears an enemy of the young boy's father tries to take over his land. Stahl dreams that his heroes come to the rescue. This Wizard of Oz fantasy is way too dark and dull looking. Oliver Platt's character, Paul Bunyan isn't as huge as he's supposed to be. Catherine O' Hara's special appearance is no help. Paul Bunyan's blue ox is the best part of the movie.
Street Fighter (1994)
Your favorite arcade game hits the screen with your favorite characters.
There are two good things I should say about Street Fighter. One is that it's better than the previous year's Super Mario Bros and the other good thing is Raul Julia as Mike Bison. Ryu, Ken, Guile, Honda, Blanka, Chung Li, Vega, Sagot, Zangief and Mike Bison star. Everybody (except for Zangief and Blanka) has to stop Mike Bison (Raul Julia) before he kills the hostages by meeting the Blanka, the green monster. Guile (Jean-Claude Van Damme) and the gang tries to stop him. It's not that good. If you see this film since it's based on a video game, you might be interested. If you want to see this film because Raul Julia died, he's very good as Mike Bison.
Death Becomes Her (1992)
Robert Zemeckis directs a comedy about life and death.
A funny movie about two sisters; one jealous about the other and steals her sister's husbands. Meryl Streep plays the sister who takes away Goldie Hawn's husband (Bruce Willis). Later on after they get married, Meryl Streep goes to an awkward house and has a potion put in her body that can make her live forever. After it was discovered that both sisters took the potion, the sisters try to kill each other and can't. This movie is a messed up film about how important your life is and how dangerous it is to live forever. What I didn't like about the movie is that in the beginning, it is boring and some scenes wasted time.
Coneheads (1993)
This movie brings back memories from the famous Saturday Night Live skits.
Beldar and Prymat Conehead (Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtain) land in Michigan after crashing in a river. They suddenly are trapped there and try to manage to live through it. What I liked is that they look funny and have funny ways of thinking what things are. Although, you might already realize they come from outer space and they don't look like humans look. The big thing I really didn't like is that some of the jokes are for those who have watched the skits for Coneheads on Saturday Night Live. The Coneheads have a baby later on named Connie (Michelle Burke) who has a boyfriend named Ronnie (Chris Farley).
Three Amigos! (1986)
I always found this very uneven.
The idea sounds good, but there weren't many laughs. Having three silent actors mistaken as real cowboys for a village in danger sounds fun. I also like the three leads, but, unfortunately, there's not much else to it. When the bad guys find out they're actors by shooting Lucky in the arm, the leads soon decide to be the real thing towards the end and not actors putting on a show. On the positive side, the songs are cheerful and entertaining. There are some laughs involving the invisible swordsman and when the three amigos are separated in their own dangerous situations. For example, Lucky trying to breaking loose from the chains in jail after the keys are dropped on the ground in the cell. Otherwise, I don't like it that much.
Tightrope (1984)
I used to like this movie, since it has a distinct look, but the pacing wanders.
The character Eastwood plays is like a bland Dirty Harry. The character named Wes Block is so calm and laid back, I wonder why Eastwood would take the role. The villain also seems unmemorable, which is unfortunate because there's a good mystery here. Various prostitutes are being assaulted and strangled by a masked man and some of the signs point to the cop because of using similar neckties and interviewing some of the women before their unexpected deaths. The romance also isn't very memorable when Wes Block meets a woman who teaches a self defense class and even the last scene is blah. There's a good story and visual look in here, but the slowness and lack of urgency for the leads hurts it. Oddly, the use of red in the movie and the killer having many close ups of his shoes are repeated in the Eastwood movie Blood Work.
Mr. Deeds (2002)
Adam Sandler seemed bored making this movie.
The slapstick was very forced. For those who don't know, this is a remake of Mr. Deeds Goes to Town. I don't think it was that memorable, but it was more honest to its story than this version. The relationship with the two leads in the original was also more convincing. John Turturro does have some laughs as the butler and so does Steve Buscemi playing a similar role as in Big Daddy, but with his crazy eyes, but most of the cast looks uninterested in being on screen for this. Basically, the dialog works better for comedy than its tired, unrehearsed slapstick. What also doesn't make sense is why Adam Sandler would remake a lighthearted movie with his own form of over the top comedy and play a character who acts laidback in other scenes. It doesn't even follow its own advice at the end.
Demolition Man (1993)
I feel split on this movie.
The 21st century looked cool and the laughs about how the world was in the future were good. I didn't think the action scenes were anything special. The two leads were ok, but their characters were their typical selves. The only real standout of their characters were being in a different timeline and feeling confused by it. If anything, Snipes dying his hair blond with a mohawk cut was the only real change. I know he plays police officers or other heroes, but Snipes was just acting like his foul mouth, I'm cool self. Inevitably, the story was familiar with the Terminator movies. This time, they enter the future instead of the past, but it's basically two characters from a different year battling each other in another century.
