Barney Miller: Contempt: Part 1 (1981)
One of the best episodes
One of the funniest episodes was when Barney was put in jail with a cell mate but all you heard was his voice. William Windom played the cell mate and had such a droll but commanding voice. His one on one with Barney was done with such a dry sense of humor. He acted like top dog on the cell block with Barney and there were times when you felt Barney was a little afraid of him even though we/he couldn't see him. This episode was done in two parts. His partners at the station didn't want to put him in jail but they had no choice. I thought this episode was done very well with great writing and very dry but funny lines. You almost had empathy for the cell mate but the bossy way he talked you knew he was guilty even before going to trial. Thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Barney and the cell mate. Good episode.
