Kite Festival of Love (2021)
Great movie!!
We just watched this 2021 movie and we loved it! It has a wonderful story line, low drama, and great acting. I especially like the "adult" and sensitive handling of situations and relationships such as loss of a parent/spouse, pushy girlfriend wanna be, potential step-child relationship, and parent/adult children relationships. Even the protagonist's actions in the end were a nice surprise.
I also loved the dialog between the girl and her father about her music teacher. She was very sensitive and mature. Kudos to the writer.
I LOVED it! I wish all script writers would take a lesson and lose the high school - type drama and manipulation that is often prevalent in romance movies.
Miracle in Bethlehem, PA. (2023)
Delightful movie!
This was a delightful story of healing and courage and faith. We truly enjoyed it.
A nice surprise from Hallmark. Reminiscent of early years HM movies when faith was part of the story.
Loved the family support, grace in healing of relationships, and the loving way the adoption process was handled.
If your Christmas includes Christ and His birth, you will enjoy this movie.
It also addresses single parenting challenges, and forgiving past hurts.
We highly recommend this movie. It was a nice change from the cookie cutter storylines; a sweet, tender love story.
Thank you, Hallmark, for airing this one!
Christmas at Pemberley Manor (2018)
Ultimately a good message
Although the story is a typical Hallmark theme, it was fun to watch Jessica Lowndes and Michael Rady shine in their roles in which they overcome past hurts and experiences and transition from cold, business people to soft, compassionate people.
Also the glaring drama of demanding bosses, hopefully helps people realize that working for that kind of boss isn't worth it. You're worth more than that! Find another job!
The message of rising above fear and discomfort, and instead do things for the good of the community, was lovely. Love, sacrifice, and compassion for others is part of the true Christmas story, which is the love of the Father because of His compassion for His people and the gift of His Son, the ultimate sacrifice for us.
A Christmas... Present (2022)
A Real Christmas Movie
I LOVED this movie and am definitely enjoying this new channel and the Christmas line up. This movie addresses a problem more American families are experiencing than probably even realize it...the busyness of life and the emotional disconnect it creates in the core of the family, not just at Christmas but the rest of the year.
By visiting her brother and seeing the comparison of his simple celebration of Christmas vs. Her family's activity-filled schedule, Candace's character realizes something's broken in her family. Her brother shares his struggle with the same issues her family faces, and gently shares what helped his family. The hope God offers and the value of a closer walk with Him, and being involved in a caring church with the support of other believers. Also the value of not scheduling every minute of life with activities but relaxing sometimes and letting memorable moments happen naturally. I liked how the two families ultimately conclude that is was fun to have some fun scheduled activities and some low-key activities!
Some things I loved in this movie:
1. Good old fashioned, solid Biblical values
2. The value of making memories and documenting them in pictures
3. The gentle way extended family shares struggles and solutions
4. Family supporting and listening to each other.
5. The real struggle and realistic conversations between husband and wife
6. The teenagers being respectful and not angry or rebellious about doing activities they didn't think they would like, but ended up enjoying.
7. The unity in the family as they committed to implement the suggested solution.
8. The value of sharing family stories and memories with the next generation!
It is a movie of the real life struggle of so many people at the holidays and throughout the year - the desire to unplug and focus on the meaning of Christmas and time together with loved ones vs. The reality of the pull of the busyness of life, jobs, school, even too many good activities. The solution put forth in this movie is the only real one that works, the hope and healing, and peace that God gives.
I really appreciated this movie and many others on this network this season. It far outshines the crap that is coming out of Hallmark this year. It's sad to see many of my favorite Hallmark actors and actresses compromising values and giving in to the sad values developing across America.
