Joe Pickett: If This Is Goodbye (2023)
Relax. The evidence still exists.
Like most of the reviewers, I was disappointed in this episode. The characters were all out of whack and there were scenes which were so implausible. Who knew so many blood thirsty racists could be rounded up so quickly to do some murdering?! And, then the roadblock scene when the sheriff was taking Shannon to prison before any trial. But, don't worry about him shooting the phone. Messages are stored on a server miles away. No phone needed. The sheriff should have known that. I am sure glad thise series is almost over. Joe has turned into a blubbering mass. And, where is Hank and the Grimms? This episode jumped the ferret.
Le ballon rouge (1956)
Saw as a child of the same age
I probably saw this around 1960 on black and white t.v.. I was spellbound by the movie. It really touched me. I never saw nor heard of it again for years and years until... My wife had given birth to our first son and we were in her tiny hospital room and things had calmed down. I turned on the t.v. And, lo! - The Red Balloon! I was blown away by the coincidence.
You Were Never Really Here (2017)
Wow. Richard Burton does "Taxi Driver"
I hadn't read the reviews before I watched it, but, my title reveals what I was impressed with during its run. JP is going to be one of our great actors if he can keep it together and attract good scripts. But, this movie always made me feel like I had missed part of it and that was why it didn't make sense. The tired, over-used flashbacks to attempt to backfill a weak plot is way overdone. I long for a movie that runs from front to back without unnecessary time travel. The days of Bobby Ewing in the shower are over. I hope JP reappears with a strong follow-up.
Big Ball (1983)
Saw this in 1983...
I had this experience in a Huntsville Alabama Showbiz Pizza. It was phenomenal. There was another movie relating to NASA and the firing of a rocket that was just as incredible. This movie technique was all about the experience and, in my opinion, it worked. But, apparently the whole production was cost prohibitive. Would love to see it re-emerge. But, it would probably be a Disney park venue.
Death Valley Days: The Hat That Huldah Wore (1966)
Great episode
I first noticed Carl Reindel in some Gunsmoke episodes. In this episode of DVDs Carl plays a mature cowhand who is gentlemanly and a member of a stage coach that gets robbed. All of this is to use up the required five lines in order to get to what I thought was remarkable about this episode of DVDs. Carl seems to be doing his best John Wayne impression throughout. Sometimes I thought there was a hint of Jimmy Stewart. But, definitely the Duke was definitely "in the house" when Carl was acting this role.
