Sanju (2018)
10/10
This movie will set a legacy known as - Ranbir Kapoor
29 June 2018
After Tamasha, I was eagerly waiting for something big from Kapoor's side, and then ADHM came, where RK's performance was stupendous (as always) however the movie being average, it didn't just add up.

I still remember, the day when Sanju was announced and Ranbir was casted, everyone including Sanjay was skeptical if kapoor will be able to pull him off. And after watching this today, I can bet you a 1000 bucks, that 10 mins in and you'll even forget RK is in there.

If there's anyone who can play Sanjay dutt better than sanjay dutt, is Ranbir Kapoor, and i'm not even exaggerating. Kapoor portrayed many aspects of Sanjay's life, in such a beautiful way, that it actually feels like watching 6 different movies in a go. The father-son bond, is the pillar this film stands on, and i'm pretty sure every son out there, is gonna connect with this at some level and shed some tears. Paresh Rawal, did more than justice to the role of a great and noble man, Mr. Sunil Dutt.

The sheer amount of dedication that went into making this excellence, is hard to neglect. Everything, from direction to camerawork reflects the zealousness and precision of what Hirani stands for.

It took more than 3 years for all this to cook up, given that, a typical Bollywood film wraps up in a mere 3 months (keeping in mind the example of Race 3, 80 days in the shooting, and we all know how it turned out), one can only admire Rajkumar Hirani's endearment towards film making.

As far as Bollywood goes, it's all commercialised nowadays, films are made just in the essence of making money, but, it gives me hope, when I know, there's a person out there like Rajkumar, whose work over the years proves that in this herd of money grabbers, he cares. Cares enough, to dedicate his life and time into making something extraordinary each and every juncture. And Sanju is no different, it's the perfect example of a Raju film, a collab of drama, emotions, laughter, stirred with philosophy and full of Life. And for all those haters out there, I know you're reading this (with a grim face), and cursing around, however - 'Kuch Toh Log Kahenge'

Silicon Valley: Grow Fast or Die Slow (2018)
Season 5, Episode 1
7/10
Not quite the same without Erlich Bachman
3 April 2018
Silicon valley, the only show that makes me re-evaluate my life choices and forces me to quit my daily ass job and work towards something of my own. I mean, it's not all candies and unicorns out there, and the show portrays that very well, showing all the harsh realities of getting your hands dirty in the silicon market. It has been a great journey so far, I mean from a compression algorithm to Pied-Piper and now "The New Internet", and the way they're heading forward nothing seems far fetched now, I mean we all believe in Richard's vision, don't we? Always have. Lol. But now, Erlich has always been my favorite character in here, he had that something, I wouldn't call it charm, but he just brought 'life' to this show. Sure, we have Gilfoyle's wittiness, and Richard's social awkwardness to rely on, but without Bachman, who will yell Jian Yang loudly now? who will flirt with Monica with no sense of boundaries? who will pass inappropriate comments and always address the elephant in the room (touche). Lol. Anywho, this show is great, and I'm glad it came back, hope it get's renewed for 2 more seasons.

Tamasha (2015)
10/10
Imtiaz Ali's most complex product till date
27 November 2015
I was damn excited for a movie with the deadly combo of Imtiaz Ali and Ranbir Kapoor including AR Rahman (cherry on top). I loved Rockstar, it was among one of my favorites in 2011. Which automatically made Tamasha my most anticipated movie of 2015 and damn was I spot on.

Tamasha is a visual treat, a movie with a PURE soul attached to it. There was a constant smile stuck on my face throughout its 139 min of runtime. Ranbir Kapoor's performance literally gave me awe-bumps (you know like goosebumps). Dayum, he's an excellent actor cum artist. Deepika was magnificent. And the songs, man. Each and everyone of it is bound to snug around your ears throughout the year.

Now let me get this straight, those who criticize this masterpiece are the same audience who disliked Rockstar, not because it was bad or something, it's just that they don't get it. They do not understand these kinda films. It's a piece of art. And I don't blame my fellow Indian audience to not to get along with these musical dramas, 'cuz they're way more inclined to commercial movies and the basic recipe of Bollywood masala crap. It's their comfort zone, and these movies make them uncomfortable.

Well, I'm shocked seeing negative remarks or even mixed reviews on such an extravagant cinema. But well, worry not 'cuz Imtiaz Ali's works are always slow burners and within a week or so Tamasha will begin. ;)

What's with all the negativity? The movie is freaking awesome <3
13 June 2015
A Spoiler Free Review : First of all, let me tell you, I'm a Hollywood buff, but I love occasional Bolly stuff too of which my favorites being A Wednesday, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, Rockstar, ZNMD, Fanaa, Ishqiya, Udaan, Dev D, Bheja Fry.. and some of them more. Well, I don't know why, but I chose Hamari Adhuri Kahaani to watch over Jurassic World(I'll watch that too, later :p), and Oh Boy! Did I made the right decision.

The movie is just fantastic, ek villain didn't impressed me at all(the songs were the ones which dragged it's so called 'success') But Aashiqui 2 was kind of good with some major plot holes, & the same goes with this one. I'm not implying that, Hamari Adhuri Kahani is one of a kind, It has many cliché moments, but the way Mohit opted to narrate the story, caught me into it.

This movie is purely performance driven. Vidya Balan stole my heart with her innocence but I've been a fan of her acting skills since Kahaani anyways. Rajkummar Rao delivering a top notch performance And Emraan Hashmi stole the show, I'm not gonna publicly admit that i cried every time he had tears in his eyes, I'm not gonna do that :p

All in all guys, this movie is packed with a hardhitting story, with an amazing climax (ignore the one's who are criticizing it, watch it for yourself & then judge it), the atmosphere (locations) serves as an eyecandy including the songs which gave me goosebumps, literally every time when the tittle track went on.

The movie is made for a Silver Screen so do watch it there. Worth ever penny, you'll love it :)
