Plane (2023)

I miss such films
16 November 2023
Hollywood is nowadays producing such a bunch of crap, I just miss such movies. Sometimes you just want to watch a film that gives you the thrills, is easy on the mind and great on the eyes. This is one such film. Much better than my expectations. It's a time tested formula but the execution is great. Gerard Butler was in his typical 'has fallen' mode (which I like). The film itself is better than the recent 2 has fallen films. The climax was really good. It created the sense of thrill that one comes to expect from such films. The plane VFX for most parts were nice. They have used VFX judiciously so that's a good thing. The passengers could be best termed NPCs. However, Butler's mate (a convict who turns into butler's mate) was a really nice addition. I liked him a lot. The action scenes are well choreographed. The antagonists are untrained militia and the final confrontation reflects this fact when they engage with professional mercenaries sent to rescue Butler and his plane. I'd like to see more such film and highly recommend it!

Not just the best Korean series, the best TV series ever.
15 December 2019
While most tv from Hollywood or India increasingly relies on sex and gore to sell itself, this TV series shows that you don't need any explicit stuff to get people interested if you have an intriguing plot. The sheer complexity of the plot is handled with such finesse that it makes 'Game of Thrones' look like it's written by a bunch of juveniles. After watching this you can't go back to watching stuff like Arrow, Flash. Pure garbage. Also, worth mentioning is the emotional depth of the series. I'm the last person on earth to jerk a tear but this one made me. This TV series should be a reference guide on how humans emotions should be crafted and conveyed in cinema. It's a masterpiece!

A good film which could have been better
5 April 2019
I think people downrating it comparing it to Raazi are misguided. The overall story is much more complex than Raazi. I do think that it could have done with more deft execution but I didn't find it as slow as websites are saying. Reviews by media houses are pathologically biased because the movie is based on a nationalistic theme. Its definitely not a bore and is pretty intense especially in the second half. It's not overtly jingoistic and maintains a good realistic tone. Infact, the conclusion is much better than Raazi. I felt that the story with Mouni Roy could have been done away with. The true surprise is Jackie Shroff. He's a complete show stealer. Overall its a solid 8 from me.

My first 10/10

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't even know about this movie until I saw it on amazon prime. Most reviews seemed negative (except imdb). However, once I saw the film I knew why. The movie takes a reverse gaze at caste issue, i.e. how reservations and affirmative action completely sideline the economically weaker among general category. The movie subtly shows that there is not even a single policy or welfare measure for those who don't fall under the purview of caste reservations. The protagonist is a person who tries best to make do of the situation and peacefully accepts it as how things work in the country unless systematic apathy and reverse discrimination take him to the absolute breaking point. The part where his wife is pregnant and he runs around with twins in his hand searching for a ventilator gave me chills! No wonder most media outlets driven by their political correctness and left wing bias thrashed this movie. This movie shows the hypocrisy of 'social justice'. Its a gem of a film and a very brave attempt. I'd like to see more from the director. 10 on 10.

Pretty good movie
29 June 2017
I found it to be a good film unlike what most of the reviews were saying. I guess nowadays if any Hollywood movie is just plain fun without any social message it's bound to get thrashed. Transformers is all about CGI, big battle scenes and lots of explosions. On all counts this movie gets an A. Compared to previous transformers movies, I think it was at par with age of extinction. The humor was also nice, especially the moments between Anthony Hopkins and his automaton butler. But as someone pointed out, some characters were unnecessary. Especially, the young girl Izabella's character didn't make any sense (plus she was downright irritating). Also, this movie focused more on Bumblebee than optimus prime, which I guess is on account of his spin off film. OVer the years, bumblebee's character has evolved very well and I think that his own movie would be great fun.

Overall, I'll give it a 7. IF you liked age of extinction you'll like this one too.

24: Legacy (2016–2017)
Oh boy....this sucked!
21 March 2017
I am from India and 24 was the first television series I started watching. It was a hell of a ride. But this one.....I couldn't stand the first 15 minutes! It was utterly ridiculous and exasperating. As pointed out by many, this is more of a left-liberalist diversity propaganda rather than an engrossing thriller series. I am not white and even I can make out that they are trying to unnecesarily portray white people in a negative light, especially males. They should understand that Keifer Stherland wasn't successful because he was white. It was because he looked the part of a CTU agent to the T. The temperament he displayed convinced viewers that this is a man who'll break the rules if it gets the job done. This legacy stuff is non-sense. I wasn't able to make out whether they rebooted 24 or parodied it. This is SAD! They absolutely ruined it!

The Great Wall (I) (2016)

A great film abotaged by critics and SJW's
20 March 2017
This is one of the most engrossing movie in recent times. It has great star cast, tight direction and very, very cool looking action sequences. Alas, critics and SJW's created a false propaganda that this was 'whitewashing' of some kind. You have to see to realize how well balanced the film is in portrayal of its characters. This is one of those edge of the seat rides that one you can't skip even a second!

I am really sad this bombed! It's a very good movie sabotaged by mainstream media and critics in order to push their BS left-liberalist agenda. It deserves nothing less than an 8.

Suicide Squad (2016)
8/10
Enjoyable film! Don't care about the critics. There's definitely some bias against it.
8 August 2016
It's a pretty good movie. I never really gave an ear to conspiracies about movies getting berated but now I do believe that DC movies are deliberately underrated. I found Age of Ultron to be disappointing. Civil war was a decent film and by all counts I find suicide squad to be as good as civil war. It has loads of humor, a brilliant star cast, and a pretty good soundtrack. Margot Robbie really steals the show as Harley Quinn. The expectations I set from the trailer were indeed met. Critics are trying to portray it as something bad as Fantastic Four which is extremely unfair. And then there are some who are apparently calling it sexist for Margot Robbie's character. Word to all those 'liberals' - kiss my a**. She's the best comic relief and glamour quotient in the film and she totally kills it! She actually appears to be in crazy love with joker. The only part that could have been better was Jared Leto's joker. It was more of an add-on footage rather than having any real functional value to the plot. I wouldn't mind watching this movie again and I very much look forward to a sequel.
