Mystic River (2003)

My mind was blown
22 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is amazing. It has everything element to make a great movie and it so well told through Clint Eastwoods directing. This might be my favorite film by him. The acting was spot on and the tension is so real I couldn't even pause the movie I was too caught up with the brilliant plot. Sean Penn especially was incredible and props to Tim Robbins. They really brought the movie to life. My one problem with it was that it did seem to have a plot hole or 2. Maybe plot hole isn't the right term but when Tim Robbins was trying to explain why he hadn't told his wife that he had killed a pedophile seemed out of place it didn't make a whole lot of sense but I can look past that.

This movie had me on the edge of the seat and I was convinced that Tim Robbins had killed Sean Penns daughter. I had no idea that it was the 2 boys instead and I could have never seen it coming. This was a truly great film and I won't be forgetting it anytime soon.

Demolition (2015)

A very real man with an interesting story
22 March 2017
Demolition is about a man of curiosity. Jake Gyllenhaal does an extraordinary job as always. He really brings this character to reality and watching this makes you feel like you are watching a real person dealing with a real problem. In demolition David loses his wife and comes to the realization that he really never loved her and is taking her absence as a chance to really take a look at the world and finds himself full of curiosity. So much raw emotion goes into this film but throughout the whole movie you feel that something is missing, except for the end which I feel came together very well. Though there were a few parts that were unnecessary and pointless. As much as I loved the main character I didn't love the story the same. It just didn't feel like it had much purpose and could have been a lot more powerful. It did have it's moments and the comedic lines were fun to see alongside the rock and roll filled soundtrack, but as far as story telling I would give it a 5/10. It had great potential but it just wasn't executed in the best way possible.Because of the acting though and the ending I think the overall film I think deserves a 7 and for those who watch I think you'll find it fun to see Jake Gyllenhaal's characters actions.

Power Rangers (2017)
7/10
A fun movie for the family
21 March 2017
I was one of the first people to be asked to watch power rangers in December of 2016. I went into the theater not expecting much from this movie but I was wrong, it was a good movie. Not great or OK it was simply good. It had great CGI and the acting was good for a young cast. I loved the first 2 acts of the movie they were really strong and had good story telling. But act 3 in my opinion seemed silly and sort of rushed. The first 2 acts were great because of 2 things. Great characters and a steady pace. The character development was great and I liked how the writers really stuck to making them interesting so that the audience would care about them, especially RJ Cylers character. Nothing was rushed and was going at a great pace and then all of a sudden act 3 came into play and it turned into a mediocre action film and wasn't very exciting and I believe that is due to the villain. I was not a fan. Her motives are too over used and simply a lame character. The actress was fine but the character it'self wasn't anything special and made the action scenes dull. Other than that the kids will love it and if you are a power ranger fan I think you will be pleased. It's fun for the whole family.

Better Than Force Awakens
19 December 2016
They finally got a Star Wars prequel correct. This movie is so fun and entertaining. I am so thankful for this movie and think that it thrives in almost every way possible. I'll break the movie down into pros and cons and then go into detail.

Pros: fantastic droid, cool characters, all of Darth Vaders scenes, the ending, beautiful planets and cinematography, fun cameos, ties in so perfectly, CGI was amazing

Cons: use of CGI characters could have been used lot less, music not done by John WIlliams

Although I didn't agree with the use CGI characters, they were used well except for that last part of the movie which I think it would have been better if we hadn't seen that persons face but its whatever. The music was good but of course I am sad about not hearing John Williams but it makes sense that they didn't use original Star Wars music because it is a whole new take and kinda separate story line. That is really all of my complaints and they are so minor. My favorite part of the whole experience was how gorgeous it was. Each and every planet was amazingly designed and just fit the whole Star Wars vibe perfectly. I am really happy to see a different take on colors. We are use to seeing such dark colors in Star Wars but in this movie there is so much green and blue. It also has incredible visuals that I hope they continue to use throughout all the movies. Also the reason I think it is better than Force Awakens is because it is just so much more original. The movie is brilliant and ties in so well with the original trilogy. If you are a Star Wars fan you will completely be satisfied with Gareth Edwards work and will love it.

A fantastic installment to the movie series we all love so dearly
19 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie at 2:30 Friday morning and let me just say that it was phenomenal. Of course there are some things that i felt didn't work and some things I would have changed but overall a amazing addition to Star Wars. There are gonna are gonna be spoilers so you have been warned.

JJ did so many things right with this movie. He added some amazing new characters that I think were amazing and fun, perfect new story elements. and so much more. But there are a couple flaws. So lets head over to my pros and con list.

Pros: Rey and Poe

Rey being force sensitive

Poe and Finns relationship

Kylo being Han and Leia's kid

Rey and Finn finding themselves on the Millennium Falcon

Luke going into hiding

BB-8 finding R2-D2

BB-8's fun on screen features

Snoke

Han and Chewies funny moments

Cons:

Han and Chewbacca loosing the Millennium Falcon

A little too much humor to Finn

Finns introduction was a little weak

The ground breaking in-between Rey and Kylo

Intro to the new Cantina

Captain Phasma got pushed out of the picture

Not very much information on the Knights of Ten

Now I will go into a little bit about these pros and cons. I thought that Rey being force sensitive was so amazing and her using the force so efficiently was good. Many people didn't like how fast she was able to do it but it showed how strong with the force she is. I loved how Kylo Ren wasn't trained as well as the past villains and that he was whiny like his grandfather (Anakin) and uncle (Luke, but only in a new hope). With Han solo sadly dying I think it was much needed, but he could of had a more heroic death and I also loved him using Chewbaccas crossbow which seems to be the first time based on his reaction. Chewbacca also going on a rampage after Han dying was really emotional but exactly how a Wookie would respond. Han dying means that we need a new gritty character. Poe is that character. He is one hell of a character who can get impossible things done. Definitely a great pilot and I can't wait to learn more about him. When Rey touches the light saber and she gets all of these flashbacks was cool and gave us more insight on exactly what when down with Luke training Kylo. I loved seeing the Knights of Ren but I wish they told us a little more. Finn was fun but a little too humorous and I think they could have pushed the comedy away from him. I didn't like that Han and Chewie had lost the Falcon. I think it would have been much better if they had been working on the Falcon while at a pit stop on Jakku and Rey starts flying it not knowing they are aboard. I personally thought Snoke really worked. I think that he was a really cool mysterious character. I also believe he is Darth Plagueis (The Emperors master who he "killed"). It was said that he was able to cheat death so what if he did that for himself?. I think that it would be really cool to see him being the overlord of the Sith who after so many years of standing by decides to form the Knights of Ren to hunt down Luke Skywalker.

That is my thought on the new Star Wars I hope all of you love it as much as I did. Good job JJ.
